Mary A. Busch Mary A. Busch, 75, passed away peacefully February 21, 2013 surrounded by loving family. Mary battled cancer with bravery yet resolve until the Lord took her home. She is now safely in the arms of Jesus. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 2 from 1–2:30 p.m. at Kolden Funeral Home, 219 N. Willow Street, Belle Plaine, MN 56011. Private Christian memorial service and internment following. Mary was born at home to Devoda (Melchior) and Edmund Bristol on June 17, 1937 in Hancock Township, MN. She was a lifetime resident of Belle Plaine. She was married in 1955 and raised seven children. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. She was an avid gardener. She loved growing flowers and vegetables, canning and making jam. She enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and bird watching. She also loved to sew and bake for family and friends. Later in life, while a resident of Cardinal Ridge apartments, she was passionate about helping others dealing with their own health issues.
Mary is survived by and will be deeply missed by children, son, Rick (Donna); daughter, Chaune Munson (John); son, Sheldon (Annette); son, Mark (Susan); son, Charlie (Amy); son Clay (Jodi); daughter, Charlotte Gaughran (Scott); siblings, sister, Donna Meyer (Richard); brother, Donald; extended family; 14 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; a baby brother; brother, Edward; sister, Geraldine; sister, Barbara. …God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered “Peace be Thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. A big part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
Marian M. Tope Marian Marcella Tope, 89, of Prescott, AZ, passed away on February 17, 2013. A Rosary and Memorial were held Friday, Feb. 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott, AZ. A Mass and celebration of her life were held Saturday Feb. 23 at noon at Sacred Heart Church in Prescott, AZ. A luncheon followed at Marian’s home. They honored her proud Irish heritage by wearing a bit of green. Born to Joseph and Mary McRaith on Jan. 16, 1924 in Belle Plaine, MN. Marian fulfilled her desire to be a nurse at 17 by joining the Cadet Nurse Corps. She trained at St. Catherine’s College, and upon graduation was stationed with many of her fellow graduates at Fort Whipple in Prescott Arizona. At Whipple, Marian made many lifelong friends who she treasured to her dying day. Along with friends, Marian met and married a recovering Navy man, Allen Tope, with whom she had four children. Nursing for Marian was not just a career; it was a way of life. Along with nurturing her family, she cared for Phoenix patients in ICU and Orthopedics; eventually retiring from active nursing in 1987 as head nurse of oncology at St. Joseph’s hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Marian was a dedicated Hospice volunteer, active in

her church and the community. She also took pride in her involvement to establish both Robert E. Simpson School and the Agnes E. Miller Boy’s Club, both of Phoenix. Marian had a love of all things family and was proud of her Irish heritage, eventually traveling to Ireland to explore her family’s history. She treasured her family in Minnesota and enjoyed visiting with them on many trips back home. In her later years she filled her days playing bridge with friends, golfing, fishing and reading. She is survived by sons, Mark and Greg Tope; and daughters, Cathy Clark and Sharon Grassi; as well as 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Marian is preceded in death by Kelly Lynn (Meyer) Paul, 35, her parents; along with siblings, of Le Sueur passed away on Jack, Tom, Kevin, Jerome, Joe Wednesday, February 20, at the University of Minnesota after and Therese. battling cancer. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, February 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church in Le Sueur. Visitation was Sunday, February 24, from 3-7 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. The evening ended with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continued the morning of the Mass at the Kolden Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until about 10:45 a.m. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur. Fr. George Grafsky officiated the services. Kelly was born on July 31, 1977 to Steve and Mary Jo (Pudwill) Meyer in St. Peter, MN. She attended Le Sueur schools and married Roger Paul on February 21, 2001, they later divorced. She worked for Richard W. gardening, reading, playing a good game of zilch and conversation over a cup of coffee, cold beer or glass of wine. She was especially passionate throughout her life about horses and loved riding. She enjoyed a friendly game of scrabble and was known for soundly beating us all. Above all, Loretta valued her many lifelong friends and her dearly loved family. So many who know Loretta will remember her for her sparkling smiling eyes and her endearing laugh. Loretta is survived by her five children, Michelle Burns (Timothy), Steven Straub (Cherie), Renee Tousley (Bob), Tony Straub (Tenille), Mara Rayner (Brian); and 11 grandchildren; her siblings, Ivan (Doreen) Lehnert, Patty (Dick) Symonds, Fred (Mary) Lehnert, Barb (Gerry) Ramaker, Judy (Dave) Hall, Dale (JeanAnn) Lehnert and Bruce (Brenda) Lehnert; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Milton Lehnert; and her ex-husband, Tim Straub.
