Loren H. Kerkow

Margaret L. Sickler Margaret L. Sickler, 93, of Le Sueur passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Facility. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church, Le Sueur. Visitation was on Sunday, December 20 from 3-7 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. There was a 2:45 C.C.W. Rosary and a 6:45 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continued on Monday morning at the funeral home from 8-10:15 a.m. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur. Fr. Andrew Stueve officiated the services. Margaret was born June 5, 1922 to John and Margaret (Neavin) Lawrence in Jessenland Township, Sibley County. She grew up in the Jessenland Township area and attended rural schools there. She married Andrew Sickler on June 22, 1940 at St. Joseph’s Church in Henderson and the couple lived in the Rush River area for two years before purchasing their farm in Henderson Township, Sibley County. She worked various jobs over the years, Green Giant, Le Sueur Foundry and in her later years, the seed house for Seneca in Le Sueur. She moved off the farm in 2005. Margaret enjoyed gardening, flowers and her time with family. She was a long time member of St. Anne’s Church and the St. Anne’s C.C.W. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (Don) Bieringer of North Branch and Patricia (Wesley) Schlegel of Le Sueur; grandsons, Tim (Brenda) Sickler, David Sickler, Patrick Sickler and Richard Sickler; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Sickler Jr. in 1972; son, Andrew Sickler III in 2007; siblings, Edmund, Nealis and Mark Lawrence and Mary Ella Bigaouette.

Kerkow, Aaron Kerkow and fiancé’ Stephanie Konz, Cody Kerkow, Ian Kerkow, Lauren Kerkow, Dalton Kerkow, Cody Rockman, Christopher Willis; two great-grandsons, Lealand Remmy Heinen, Arckham James Heinen; sister, Dorothy (Alan) Quatmann; sister-inlaw, Myra Kerkow; and other relatives and friends. Preceded in death and there to welcome Loren home in Heaven is his granddaughter, Xochilt Lutgen; parents, Werner and Lillian; and brother, Ralph Kerkow.

A lifelong resident of Jordan, Loren Henry Kerkow, 75, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2015, at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. A Celebration of Life Service was held on December 21 at 11 a.m. with a 2 hour visitation prior to service at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 100 West Sixth Avenue, Jordan. Pastor Jeremy Glowiki presided. Loren was laid to rest with family at Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan. Loren was born in St. Lawrence Township on January 22, 1940 to Werner Carl and Lillian Louis (Jentsch) Kerkow. He was born at home on the farm, where he lived all of his life. Loren was a dairy farmer from the time he left school in the ninth grade. He loved his family and he loved his farm and cows. He married Mariana Rockman on March 10, 1978, in Brookings, South Dakota. They had two sons, Loren H. Kerkow, Jr and Mark T. Kerkow. Loren also took on the role of father to Tammy and Allen Rockman, Mariana’s children. Loren milked cows and farmed all of his life. It was what he loved to do! He did some traveling later in his life, but it could only be for a short time because he had to get back to the farm he loved. Loren was so happy when one of his grandsons, Aaron, went to dairy school to become a dairy farmer. Aaron is now milking cows in the barn Loren built. His other grandson, Blake went to Ag School to learn about equipment and how to farm the soil. He was so proud of his granddaughter Heather because she graduated from the U of M and got a 4 year degree. Loren loved his family. He always talked about all the grandchildren and he loved to hear about all their achievements. Left to honor Loren’s life is his wife, Mariana; children, Loren H. Jr. (Audra) Kerkow, Mark T. Lydia E. W. (Kessler) Stier Lydia Emma Wilhelmina (Kessler) Stier, 102, of Belle Plaine, passed away December 21, 2015 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Lydia was born in Tyrone Township, Le Sueur County on August 19, 1913 to August and Hulda (Schultz) Kessler. She was baptized September 14, 1913 at Friedrich’s Kirche Church (Redeemer) in Blakeley Township and confirmed in 1928. On May 6, 1936 Lydia married Erwin Stier at Redeemer Lutheran Church. They farmed in Blakeley Township for many years. She is survived by her son, Merlin (Linda) Stier of Belle Plaine; two step granddaughters, Stacey (Luke) Weber and Jennifer (Alan) Babatz; three great-grandsons, Bennett Weber, Ryan and Matthew Babatz; sister, Luella Bromaghim; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Erwin on July 9, 1982; sisters, Edna Stier and Irma Herder; brother, Edwin Kessler; and many other relatives and friends.
