Shakespeare’s Globe launches The Dream Space and Egg Exhibition for Easter 05 March 2012 This Easter Shakespeare’s Globe will offer families a selection of interactive and creative events. Take part in the egg decorating competition, experience the magic of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the brand new Dream Space and become immersed in Shakespeare’s London with a visit to the Globe Exhibition and Tour.

Families can explore the magic and mystery of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream by visiting Globe Education’s Dream Space, running throughout the Easter holidays. The Dream Space will be hosting 60 minute storytelling sessions twice daily at 11.00am and 2.00pm, when families will be invited to experience a world of fairies, mechanicals and mortals through performance, puppetry and mime. The sessions are suitable for children aged 5 and upwards.

Situated underneath the Globe Theatre, Globe Exhibition explores the rich story of the Globe and brings Shakespeare’s world to life through the use of modern technology and traditional crafts. For Easter the Globe’s Exhibition has launched a competition that will see the artistic creations of the entrants displayed in the exhibition. Visitors are asked to decorate an egg in the style of a Shakespearean character to create a new temporary display for the holidays. Each participant will then be entered into a prize draw to win a family ticket to a Globe to Globe production. Globe to Globe is the theatre’s unprecedented festival which will see all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays performed at the Globe in 37 different languages over six weeks from the 21 April. The prize will give the winners a chance to experience Shakespeare in a language of their choice ranging from Swahili to Mandarin.

If the egg is delivered to the Globe Exhibition and Tour in person, the Globe will also exchange the decorated egg for a chocolate egg. The competition will run from the 9 March to 15 April and for full terms and conditions visit shakespearesglobe.com/competitions.

Throughout the holidays print press and Elizabethan dress demonstrations will also take place in the Exhibition between 11am and 4pm every 30 minutes. These activities are included in the exhibition ticket price.
