Becky Scarborough Graphic Design & Illustration

Becky's illustration based work often features and is inspired by nature and animals. She likes to bring more meaning to her work by responding to issues such as migration, pollution, hunting or de‐forestation. Creative and hands‐on, with a passion for making things, Becky has recently begun broadening her style and practice by using natural elements found in the garden. She combines this with skills such as illustration, collage and bookbinding.

Guardian of the Forest Three‐dimensional box frame illustrations, inspired by mythology and folklore of the forest. In Celtic religion there is a God known as Cernunnos, the deity of the forest and wild animals. The stag is the physical representation of Cernunnos, and his spirit lives within all deer. The deer – guardian of the forest – is the largest living animal in British woodlands, with no predator other than man. These herbivores, with no need to harm other living creatures, protect all animals that are smaller, and more vulnerable. The large illustration of the stag, and the ascending branch antlers, contain smaller animals featuring !"#$%&'%""&'$()*+&,-."%&/0#&1""'&$2#&'.(3&)"3*4& The layers depict the depth of the forest he guards.

Safety in Numbers Safety in Numbers Set of 4 illustrations inspired by the migration of animals. From researching animal migration, these illustrations symbolise the mass of animals that travel thousands of miles by air, land or sea. 5(6"%"2'&$2(7$)&!)$**"*&8$9"&*:"!(;!&!-))"!'(9"& nouns, four of these nouns are illustrated using <"/%$&:%(2'+&;*8&*!$)"*+&/0''"%,=&.(23*&$2#& bird feathers to represent each animal.
