I live in a small town in the north of Portugal. Its name is Viana do Castelo. Fifty years ago my town was very different. It was smaller and most of the buildings were already old. Now there are more houses and some blocks of flats. The shops are bigger than they used to be 50 years ago and most of them are not downtown but outside town and we have a shopping centre. Transport is very different too. Now we travel by bus, train or car but 50 years ago there was only the train station and people didn’t use to have cars. Now we have highways, but in the past there were only small streets. There was a small cinema where people could see black and white movies, but now there is a cinema at the shopping centre and we can watch 3D films. My grandparents lived in town 50 years ago. They say “nothing is like it used to be 59 years ago”. For me, before (50 years ago) everything was quieter, but I like it the way it is, I would not change a thing!!!
