A fund managed by Davy Real Estate is buying the premises and planning to continue to invest in its development. There will be no change to the overall Harvey’s Point experience led by general manager Noel Cunningham and financial
controller Michael Cullinan. Central to its offering is Wellness@ Harvey’s Point, which features the famous organic ila brand. A range of face and body therapies and treatments are available in the ila Treatment Suites, along with a variety of homecare packages.

GALGORM SPA & GOLF RESORT OPENS COTTAGE COLLECTION
Northern Ireland’s Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort has opened up a new collection of country cottages as part of a £14m investment into the business. The project, along with a forthcoming spa extension, represents an investment of £50m in the business over the past decade. In the last 12 months Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort has expanded its
Thermal Spa Village to over three acres, with the addition of the Serenity Spa Garden with private hot tubs. The 17 new cottages are located within the parkland estate and further plans for Galgorm include 64 new hotel bedrooms, a rooftop spa, added external spa garden facilities and an executive lounge.
“By further enhancing our product offering to attract the discerning traveller, we can enhance our reputation as a destination spa, allowing us to compete with the very best resorts on the global stage,” said managing director Colin Johnston.
EUROPE HOTEL & RESORT IN KILLARNEY, CO KERRY SCOOPS EUROPEAN SPA AWARD The Europe Hotel & Resort in Killarney, Co Kerry has won a top prize at this year’s European Hotel Awards in Geneva, taking home the award for Hotel Spa of the Year. The awards, which took place in March, hosted an elite selection of Europe’s top hoteliers, celebrating the best in luxury and hospitality across the continent. READY The spa industry is thriving and there are many upcoming spa professional conventions to choose from, writes mentor and spa consultant Diahann Buckley. It is a very exciting time to be part of the spa industry, which is globally growing 9.9pc in the past two years. The word spa has become synonymous with tourism and global wellness. Never has there been a more viable time for you to grow your business and market with gusto. We need to stay connected with the market trends and leaders while still keeping a hold over our own spa type/identity and share. Keeping up with the heartbeat of spa trends can be tricky if you work remotely and getting out there to conventions and events is a great mind opener. Beauty Dusseldorf, The Wellness Collective Sicily, Spa Life International this coming May in Ireland and SPATEC Europe are just a few events coming up. The fundamental parts of any convention worth going to will involve: skincare brands, science, new trends, equipment, software, sundry suppliers, recruitment specialists, media and education. The later excites me most of all. Time away from our business needs to be productive both for yourself and your employer. Go with your own agenda and hit list. Arriving without this lends itself to being distracted. The social and networking aspect has indeed immense value. I have always taken the approach of sharing knowledge and experience freely as we learn more from each other then we could ever possibly learn from a generic
management programme. Set out a list of properties that are similar in size and offering to your business and make it your first priority to meet and link in with your fellow managers. You will be your own best support in all aspects of the business as you share the same challenges and opportunities.
“Organise your own meetings and get maximum return on time and process” You have probably set a wish list for the business for the year ahead and know you exactly what supports, changes or modifications you wish to implement in this season. If not, get cracking because any event will have the resources centralised for you to explore. I follow the MoScoW prioritisation approach. It is rather simple and hugely effective. MoScoW simply explained is what are your Must have, Should have, Could have and Won’t have (this time). Simply write down beside each heading your aim and from there you set for a successful event. Organise your own meetings and get maximum return on time and process. Remember the nature of an event is to sell to you, so focusing on your own agenda will bear fruit. Do your research on potential meet-ups with suppliers before you attend, it will help you avoid being bedazzled by sale
pitches and take your off focus from your objective. I can’t suggest strongly enough you write down your questions in advance, therefore getting the exact information you need to make a considered choice. It is a wonderful opportunity to let your hair down in an industry that has incredible people building the future of spa in Ireland. I look forward to seeing you there.
