Have you ever thought about how can one event change your life?

Nina Joffeydiscovered her love for art unexpectedly when her friend took her to a “SIP AND PAINT” event. She immediately loved the smell of paint, and she was immediately drawn to the feeling of adventure of trying to paint herself. After working for more than 30 years in the Information Technology field and never touching brushes or paint, she stumbled upon something which gave her so much joy. “She couldn’t believe how lucky she was!” shared Nina during her interview.

Her painting voyage began in 2017 when she took a few classes from the community center and local artists. “The painting changed my life. I discovered a new world and a new me. Arts help to open the eyes and the beauty of the world, accept things you overlooked before,” continued Joffeyin her artistic story.

Nina Joffeyis a well-known Virginian artist who is experimenting with media and styles, but her favorite at this moment is oil in a semitraditional style. She loves to do portraits, as well as to paint nature, cities, landscapes and gets inspiration from traveling, observing and just seeing the beauty in the simple things.

Gayane Minasyan

Gayane Minasyan is a Northern Virginia-based painter and collage artist whose prolific work focuses on showing the beauty of women and portraiture. She first turned to art to help relieve the stress and loneliness of disconnecting from social life, losing a dear friend and watching her native country of Armenia enter into a war, all during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and has quickly turned her work into a statement about the power of art to share messages of hope, faith and beauty.

Since personally benefiting from the art therapy process, Minasyan completed the Art Therapy Practitioner course (IPHM, CMA, CPD) in January 2022, and now teaches group and individual art therapy classes, with the goal of helping all ages, especially seniors, find a way to connect their bodies, minds and souls through their creativity.

When she is not creating beautiful works of art, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her family at their condo in southern Maryland and donating to worthy causes.
