LET’S TALK PLANTS

BY JEN BISWAS, PAISLEY + SPARROW I’m in the camp of “more is more” when it comes to plants and live by the 3 plants per room rule (at a minimum!). It can be hard to break into becoming a plant lady (or man) so here are some tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way.

5 TIPS TO BECOME

A Good Plant Parent

1. START EASY

Don’t start out with a picky, high maintenance plant or you’ll lose your confidence. A plant like a pothos is a great place to start. It doesn’t require a lot of light, is ok if it’s neglected a bit and is super easy to propagate!

2. CLEAN YOUR AIR

Many plants help clean the air and remove toxins. Try out a snake plant that removes 107 known air pollutants AND produces a ton of oxygen at night. These are great for bedrooms!

3. PICK BLOOMS

Want a plant that blooms? Try a lipstick plant! These gorgeous plants produce beautiful red blooms that look like tubes of lipstick.

4. GO BIG OR GO HOME Don’t think you can maintain 3 plants in a room? Try just one large one! An umbrella plant (or monstera!) are great options for large plants that are easy to grow.

5. CREATE A PLANT WALL Lastly, if you run out of room on your shelves, get creative! Plant walls are super easy to create and give you so much more room for plants!

Growing and caring for plants takes time and practice.

Start easy and master the more hardy plants before moving on to trickier ones.
