specialist health and work services Befriending Service We know that a cancer diagnosis is frightening and overwhelming, even more so during these unfamiliar times. So, we have introduced a Telephone Befriending Service, to ensure that every person receiving treatment at The Beatson has a friend to speak to whenever they may need it. Our befrienders are available for one-to-one chats on a weekly basis. “I am currently stuck at home and unable to return to work due to my Covid-19 risk status, which is really frustrating. My befriender has been a massive support and has provided comfort through a really tough time.” – Frank, Befriending Service User Specialist Health and Work (SHAWS) Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, our SHAWS programme has temporarily moved to a telephone service. How we help: • We provide tailored support that best suits you • We assign a practitioner who works closely with you to help focus on returning to work, staying in work or making work related decisions • We provide information and support if there are areas of conflict “When I was considering going back to work, the support I was given was tremendous. The service will always be close to my heart.” – Kris Remember our Facemasks Branded facemask with a comfortable Velcro strap – a must for going out and about!
