Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Spain, 2013 Photomontage in form of Christmas cards made from photographs of a working-class neighborhood in Vallecas, Madrid. (Diciembre 2012-enero 2013) Video, DVD Pal, 0,43 min, color Montages made of photographs taken in the afternoon of the 6th of January and in the morning of the 7th, after the night in which the Three Wise Men surprise us with their presents in our houses and as a result the remains of previous years and wrappers of the new packages end up in the trash. Each work consists of series of three photographs that tell us a small story making a reflection about the value we give to this traditional festival. The format chosen for each work is Christmas card. The selected content for each one is made up of a cover image and an interior handwritten by a child. The first commercial Christmas cards are dated in London in 1843 and later on, the cards like postcards became popular around 1920. There was a decline since 2005 and technology is responsible of that. As a result, the estimated number of received cards in each home was drastically reduced.
