The Great Outdoors

Nursery Welly Walk Welly Walks

Every Wednesday morning, our Little Beacons don their wellies and head into the beautiful woodlands surrounding the school. In line with their autumnal topic, our Nursery boys have been learning about trees, leaves and animals that hibernate. They enjoyed rustling through the leaves and a highlight was always seeing their friend, Mr Squirrel!

Year 2 Outdoor Learning

In Year 2 Outdoor Learning lessons, our boys undertook several activities relating to exploration and natural wonder. They went on bug hunts, leaf identification and den-making activities for Baz the cuddly toy! Throughout the different tasks, they showed some form of independence, teamwork, communication and listening skills. A great time was had by all and huge amounts of fun!

Year 3 Sensory Walk

Year 3 Outdoor Senses

In English, our Year 3 boys have been studying the book ‘Orion and the Dark’ by Emily Yarlett.

In preparation for writing a description from Orion’s perspective, the boys went on a sensory walk around the school. They enjoyed using the four senses of touch, smell, sight and sound to explore different areas around the school.

Back in the classroom they were tasked with writing descriptive sentences about what they had experienced.
