Yummy! It’s Girl Guide biccie time. The annual fundraiser is on again as thousands of boxes of the iconic biscuits go on sale across the country next week. The Pohutukawa Coast Girl Guides, Brownies and Pippins will be out selling door to door on Monday March 2 from 5pm. But they are also taking phone orders. Co-ordinator Michelle Berriman says the local guides troup is currently down on numbers with three Pippins (aged 5-7),, 10 Brownies (aged 7.5-9.5) and eight Girl Guides (aged 9.513.5). They meet weekly at the scout hall at Te Puru. “We’d love to have more girls join the group,” says Michelle. “The guiding movement enables girls to gain life skills by doing a range of fun activities. “Selling the bisucits is just one of them as it they get to develop confidence as they learn to approach people, work as a team and practise handling money.” The biscuits cost $3.50 per packet and come in three varieties - plain, chocolate and minichocolate.
