Arcadia’s Annual End of Summer Carnival

The Recreation and Community Services Department of Arcadia will host their Annual End of Summer Carnival on Wednesday, August 10 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Eisenhower Memorial Park. This year the theme will be “Under the Big Top”. There will be crafts, raffles, a photo booth, a balloonist and a caricature artist. There will be carnival games and kidfriendly prizes so guests are encouraged to bring lots of change. Guests may also bring a picnic lunch, or purchase a snack from the snack bar. WEEKLY EVENTS Surface Truths: Abstract Painting In The Sixties Join a Museum Educator on Friday, August 5 at 6 or 7 p.m. for a one hour tour on the exhibition Surface Truths: Abstract Painting in the Sixties at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. Space is limited to 25 participants, who may sign up at the information desk no later than 15 minutes prior to the tour. The tour is free and open to all ages. Summer Art Walks in Old Town Monrovia

Association of Fine Arts, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, featuring local art-

ists held on the last Saturday of each month during the Summer in charming Old Town Monrovia: this year, on Saturdays; August 27 th 2011 from 7:00 pm10:00 p.m. Local artists will set up along the sidewalks of Old Town Monrovia’s historic Myrtle Avenue to show and sell drawings, paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography and handmade glass and ceramic artworks. ular demand, artists Frank Zgonc and Heather Shaw will bring back the “BrushOff” or “Swap-a-thon” which is a fun demonstration of two artists painting on each other’s canvases as a collaborative effort in the process of making artwork. Art Walk Night is also FREE CERAMICS NIGHT at Paint-N-Play Art Studio and Gallery, 418 South Myrtle Ave. First 50 kids (age 12 and under) will be able to paint a ce-
