Aug. 2 At 1:32 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1000 block of South Sixth Avenue regarding a theft from vehicle report. Sometime between 3 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Aug. 2, an unidentified suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole a wallet, knife set, and a speaker. There is no suspect information at this time. At 6:33 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Retirement Village, located at 607 W. Duarte Road, regarding a battery report. An investigation revealed a resident became angry and pushed a medication cart causing the employee’s hand to be jammed in one of the drawers. The victim declined medical treatment. The case has been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Officer for review. The 71-year-old male from Arcadia was not arrested. Aug. 3 At 11:20 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Arcadia Avenue regarding a battery report. An altercation between a mother and her 15-year-old son resulted in the son punching the mother in the face and ear. The victim sustained injuries to her eye and leg. The victim is not desirous of prosecution. Aug. 4 At 6:20 a.m., an officer responded to the 1600 block of South Fourth Avenue regarding a mail theft report. A witness reported seeing three suspicious subjects opening mailboxes in the area and pushing a small shopping cart. Officers were unable to locate the suspects, but they found the shopping cart with pieces of stolen mail. Surveillance footage revealed the suspects were three White or Hispanic males, all between the ages of 20 and 30-years-old, wearing gloves, and masks. At 7:56 a.m., an officer responded to CVS, located at 1401 S. Baldwin Ave., regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect cut the lock to a large storage container to the rear of the business and stole miscellaneous tools.

At 11:14 a.m., an officer responded to a business suite in the 500 block of North First Avenue regarding a commercial burglary report. The officer determined an unknown suspect broke the door handle to the business, entered the janitor’s closet, damaged a roof-access door, and fled emptyhanded. The investigation is pending a review of the surveillance footage. Aug. 5 At 10:04 a.m., an officer responded to Paco’s Restaurant, located at 200 E. Foothill Blvd., regarding a theft from vehicle report. Surveillance footage revealed two male suspects driving a white Chevrolet Silverado truck stole gardening tools from the victim’s open truck bed. Suspect #1 is described as a Hispanic male wearing a dark mask, white tshirt, a red hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, a black baseball hat, and was likely between the ages of 20 and 30-yearsold. Suspect #2 is described as a Hispanic male with a medium build, wearing a blue bandana mask, a white t-shirt, black shorts, and appeared to be between the ages of 20 and 30-years-old. The investigation is ongoing. Aug. 6 At 1:15 a.m., an officer responded to Hilton Garden Inn, located at 199 N. Second Ave., regarding a fraud report. The victim discovered a roommate stole his credit cards and $275 cash. The suspect, 29-year-old male from Arcadia, is outstanding as of the time of this report.

MONROVIA July 31 At 7:44 a.m., an officer was patrolling the 800 block of Alta when he saw a male subject sleeping in his vehicle with a can of beer on the center console. When the subject was contacted, he was found to be in possession of a pipe that had been used to smoke methamphetamine. The beer can was empty. The subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 6:53 a.m., an officer saw a vehicle commit several traffic violations near the intersection of Monterey and Huntington. The officer initiated a traffic stop. As the officer approached the driver, the vehicle fled the area. Officers searched the area and located the vehicle, unoccupied, near Myrtle and Pomona. The driver had fled the scene and was not located. An investigation revealed stolen property inside of the vehicle. This investigation is continuing. Aug. 5

At 1:42 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a very low rate of speed, impeding traffic near the intersection of California and Huntington. A traffic stop was conducted. The investigation revealed the female driver was in possession of a controlled substance and the male passenger was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were arrested. At 6:57 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Eighth and Duarte regarding a suspicious vehicle parked along a red curb line. Officers made contact with the single occupant of the vehicle, who said he had been parked there for three hours waiting for his daughter. Further investigation revealed the occupant was in possession of a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested. Aug. 2 At 12:24 a.m., officers responded to a business in the 200 block of West Huntington regarding two suspects in the drive-thru, attempting to pay with a counterfeit $100 bill. The clerk kept the bill and called police. The suspects left prior to officers arriving. This investigation is continuing. Aug. 3

An investigation revealed the suspect smashed the front glass door, ransacked numerous rooms, and fled with nearly $2,000 worth of supplies; including surveillance cameras. There is no suspect information at this time.

At 2:47 p.m., a bicyclist was traveling north on Primrose and entered the intersection of Primrose and Olive. A white sedan traveling west on Olive drove through the stop sign and collided into the bicyclist. The bicyclist was thrown to the ground by the impact. The driver pulled up next to the bicyclist on the ground and yelled that he was sorry but did not stop and fled the area heading west. The bicyclist sustained minor injuries. The investigation is continuing.

PASADENA July 23 At 1:33 p.m. patrol officers responded to a motel in the area of Colorado Boulevard and Madre Street in regards to a man who was reportedly armed with a gun. Officers located the suspect in a vehicle, as he was exiting the motel parking lot. A traffic stop was conducted of the suspect vehicle and an investigation did not reveal any evidence of a firearm. The subject was, however, in possession of multiple ounces of narcotics. Further investigation lead to the recovery of additional narcotics in the motel room where the suspect and his girlfriend were staying. Both suspects were arrested and booked at the Pasadena Jail. July 24

At 1:57 a.m. a resident called regarding a subject who was tampering with the resident’s front door in the 1000 block of Hastings Ranch Drive. Officers arrived and found the suspect at the front door, pulling on the door and trying to get into the home. Officers gave orders in an attempt to stop the suspect, however he did not comply and continued to force his way into the home. The suspect eventually turned his attention towards the officers and charged at them. After a short scuffle, the officers were able to take the suspect into custody while sustaining only minor injuries. July 25 At 11:13 a.m. an officer saw a subject who he knew from prior contacts and arrests, loitering in the area of Allen Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The officer was aware the subject was on active probation and as the officer approached the subject to make contact, the suspect made a furtive movement. The officer immediately attempted to control the subject’s hand to prevent him from retrieving either a weapon or concealing evidence. However, the suspect broke free from the officer's grasp and ran. The officer caught the suspect and detained him and it was discovered the suspect had a loaded firearm and narcotics in his possession. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Pasadena City jail.

July 29 At 1:58 p.m. officers responded to the 100 block of East Washington Boulevard to assist the Pasadena Fire Department with a residential fire at an apartment complex. A small child who lived at the primary residence, died as a result of the fire and two other family members sustained life threatening injuries. The fire was initially determined to be accidental and caused by an electrical issue. Multiple neighbors were displaced and the American Red Cross responded to assist with temporary housing for those families who needed it. Pasadena Police Officers and Pasadena Police Volunteers assisted with traffic control and perimeter security throughout the duration of the fire investigation. July 31 At 9:10 p.m. officers responded to a City Park in the 1300 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue regarding the report of several males chasing another male. When officers arrived at location, they were unable to locate a victim. Several minutes later, the Pasadena Police Dispatch Center received a call regarding a victim of an assault who was at the 500 block of North Marengo Avenue. Officers contacted the victim who would only provide minimal information. The victim refused to identify himself or provide information about his assailants.
