MONROVIA Feb. 27 At 8:52 a.m., a resident in the 200 block of Valle Vista called to report a female acquaintance was trying to steal a car parked in his driveway. Officers arrived and contacted the female. A computer check indicated she had an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was arrested and taken into custody for the warrant. Feb. 28 At 11:13 a.m., an officer was patrolling the area of Magnolia and Walnut when he saw a vehicle commit a traffic violation. A traffic stop was conducted and it was learned that the male driver was on probation for a drug offense and had two outstanding warrants for his arrest. A search incident to arrest revealed heroin hidden beneath a seat, which the driver admitted belonged to him. He was arrested and taken into custody. At 4:06 p.m., a resident in the 100 block of North Myrtle called to report the catalytic converter was stolen off his

vehicle sometime during the night. The victim had left his vehicle parked overnight on the street and did not discover the theft until late afternoon the next day. The investigation is continuing.

Feb. 29 At 7:47 a.m., officers responded to the area of Mayflower and Evergreen regarding a disturbed subject waving a knife around. Officers arrived and located a subject who matched the description that was provided to police dispatch. The subject had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. A search incident to arrest revealed the subject was in possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. March 1 At 5:48 p.m., a resident in the 1700 block of South Mayflower called to report a domestic battery that occurred on Friday, Feb. 28. A couple had been drinking and was involved in an argument. The argument escalated and the boyfriend head-butted and punched his girlfriend. He proceeded to kick her and

At 6:40 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the 100 block of East Huntington when he saw a motorist driving a vehicle with no license plates. He stopped the vehicle and found the driver was driving with a suspended license. During a search of the vehicle and occupants, the officer found both the driver and his passenger were in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine and the type of tools commonly used to commit burglaries. Both suspects were arrested and taken into custody. March 3 At 3:22 p.m., an officer was patrolling Station Square Park in the 1600 block of South Myrtle when he discovered the open bathrooms had been vandalized. The vandalism was green, gang related graffiti. This investigation is continuing. March 4

At 10:50 a.m., a caller reported that a traffic collision just occurred at the intersection of Monterey and Huntington. Two vehicles collided in the intersection and the cause of the collision is under investigation. One party complained of pain and was treated at the scene by Monrovia Paramedics. The investigation is continuing.

At 4:56 p.m. five victims, who are all professional BMX riders, were in Pasadena to film an amateur BMX video at a local park. The bike rid-

ers were approached by a local gang member who took a set of keys from one of the victims and told the victims he was taking one of their skateboards because he was "taxing" them for being in "his park." The suspect also lifted up his shirt, revealing several gang tattoos as a sign of intimidation. The suspect fled the location on the stolen skateboard and the victims followed him for a short distance until police arrived. As officers were obtaining statements from the victims, the suspect rode by on the skateboard. Officers were able to quickly take the suspect into custody without incident. Feb. 2 At 5:05 p.m. Pasadena Police Department responded to a trailhead in the nature area close to JPL regarding a person who was performing CPR on a bicyclist. The Pasadena Fire Department arrived first and transported the victim to a local hospital. Unfortunately the victim passed away at the hospital. It was determined the victim was mountain biking on the trails near JPL and a witness heard the victim crash his bike. The good Samaritan immediately initiated CPR for the bicyclist and called 911 for assistance. Preliminarily, it appears the bicyclist suffered a medical emergency. Feb. 5 At 7:33 p.m. officers responded to the 600 block of Penn Street regarding a house and tree on fire. The resident was inside her residence and believed one of her dogs knocked over papers onto a floor heater. She walked outside to put her dogs in the backyard and when she returned to the house, she saw the flames. She was able to get out of her residence; however, she did sustain second degree burns to both hands as well as minor smoke inhalation.

At 9:05 p.m. officers responded to Memorial Park regarding an armed robbery of a bus driver. The victim had parked his bus adjacent to Memorial Park so he could use the park’s restroom. While in the restroom, two male suspects brandishing knives entered the restroom and demanded the victim’s wallet, identification and cell phone. Out of fear, the victim complied. The suspects then ordered the victim to wait in an empty stall while the suspects fled the restroom in an unknown direction. Fortunately, the victim was not injured during the robbery. Feb. 8 At 6:38 a.m. Pasadena Police Department’s Dispatch Center received a call of shots heard in the 500 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue. Officers searched the area and located an occupied vehicle, parked in the immediate area. Officers approached the car and found a casing inside. After conducting a thorough investigation, one of the vehicle’s occupants was arrested and a firearm was recovered. The arrested individual was an admitted gang member.

At 12:35 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation at Navarro Avenue and Tremont Street. Officers requested to search the vehicle and the driver gave permission. The officers located a loaded revolver under the front seat. The driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a loaded firearm and the passenger had previously been convicted for a felon in possession of a firearm. Feb. 11 At 6:34 p.m. Pasadena officers responded to the area of the 1800 block of East Colorado Boulevard regarding an armed robbery at a nearby gas station. The suspect entered the location armed with a firearm and demanded money from the victim. The suspect made verbal threats of “killing” the business’ clerk if he did not “open the register!” The suspect unsuccessfully attempted to open a safe but was able to open and remove cash from the register. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival. Further investigation is being conducted by police detectives. Feb. 12

Feb. 9 At 5:01 a.m. the Police Department received a call of an in-progress burglary at a residence in the 400 block of South Catalina Avenue. The owner was not at the residence but was monitoring the location via live remote security cameras. Initially it was reported the suspect was inside upon the officer’s arrival. A containment of the residence was established, however, it was later learned there was a delay in police notification and the suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Further investigation is being conducted by police detectives.

At 8:36 a.m. police dispatch received a call of a fire in the 200 block of North Hudson Avenue. Officers and Pasadena Fire Department responded and located an active fire at the apartment complex. Officers assisted in evacuating nearby apartments while the firefighters extinguished the fire. Extensive damage was caused by water in the adjoining apartments and evidence suggested the resident of the apartment where the fire initially started had intentionally set the fire. The resident was arrested and further investigation is being conducted by the arson investigator.
