The Arcadia High football team was just overmatched by visiting Burroughs High and fell, 3714, on Friday night in a Pacific League game. The Apaches were held to just one touchdown offensively and 163 total offensive yards. Arcadia coach Andrew Policky said the team had its difficulties throughout the game. “We had a little bit of trouble with pass protection there on offense,” Policky said. “We didn’t run the ball effectively like we did the last couple of games, so that was rough. Once we get that going it helps us in some other areas.” He added the offensively problems inevitably lead to problems for the defensive squad, which led to just too big a hole to fill.

He added the team was eventually able to overcome the Apaches. “They were blitzing us early,” Knoop said. “We were able to force them out of it. Then we kind of dictated what we wanted to do offensively. Defensively, we were too physical for them.” Trailing, 21-0, late in the second quarter, Arcadia quarterback Joey Harmon hit receiver Tealon Haggerty with a 10-yard touchdown pass to cap a 19-play, 83-yard drive. Trailing, 37-6, late in the fourth quarter, Arcadia scored its second touchdown of the game when Robbie Hillier ran back a kickoff return for 99 yards. By Shel Segal “The defense was out there for a long time and we ran out of gas,” he said. “We got into some bad spots a couple of times. We got pinned down there on the 1-yard line. It just got away from us tonight.” Burroughs coach Keith Knoop said overall it was a good game for the Indians, who are battling for a CIF Southern Section playoff spot and possible league championship as they play Burbank High on Friday night. “We still have some special teams issues we have to fix,” Knoop said. “We had some injuries we had to put guys in for. We didn’t throw the ball offensively as much as we would have liked to have. We ran the ball, which is really what we do, but we’ve been trying to be a passing team, be more balanced.”
