8th annual free emergency dental treatment events throughout So. Cal For the second time this year California Dental Group will be providing free emergency dental care as part of their growing annual effort to serve those who don’t have the money to go to the dentist. The Free Emergency Dental Care Day Clinics will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 and on Sunday, September 29, 2013, from 8am – 3pm. Realizing that many people are struggling in the current economy, California Dental Group wants to give people, who couldn’t otherwise afford it, an opportunity to take care of dental problems before they become more serious, and more costly. Free dental services, including fillings, emergency root canals, extractions, toothache treatments, and cleaning of infected gums, will be provided, at NO COST, to as many people as can be seen beginning at 8am and ending at 3pm, on a first come, first serve basis. No appointments. One emergency treatment per patient. California Dental Group sees hundreds of patients a month. Yet, according to Dr. Kamran Sahabi, owner of California Dental Group,
“We see an amazing number of people who need treatment and can’t afford it. We come across this every day. So I decided that we needed to address this serious health issue.” Each of California Dental Group’s seven locations now devotes at least one day per year to providing free emergency dental care to the community. Dr. Sahabi considers the cost of the giveaway in staff time and supplies as “not really important.” “What is important is that people understand the two main problems in dental care — tooth decay and gum disease — and that they are both preventable with good hygiene and regular visits to the dentist.” Office locations and Free Emergency Dental Care Day schedule is as follows: Wednesday, September 25, 2013, 8am – 3pm California Dental Group – Glendale Office 609 S. A new California Appellate case just published August 8, 2013, “Glaski v. Bank of America”, holds that a homeowner can challenge his lender’s right to foreclose by showing that the Deed of Trust never made it into the securitized trust until after the trust’s closing date. This is the case in most loans made in the last 12 years. If the bank foreclosed we should be able to get the homeowner money damages and/or the house back. Or a lawsuit could be filed and a court ruling obtained preventing the court from foreclosing. Recently enacted Sections 2924(a)(6) and 2924.19 of California Civil Code provide the same relief to homeowners. It is highly suggested that homeowners take this window of opportunity to get relief before the banks get Congress to close this door with national legislation. Contact us so we can help you.

California firm recalls ground beef products that may contain foreign materials Central Valley Meat Company, a Hanford, Calif., establishment, is recalling 58,240 pounds of ground beef that may contain small pieces of plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products subject to recall include: - 40-lb. cases containing 10-lb. chubs of “Fine Ground Beef.” The products bear the establishment number “Est. 6063A” inside the USDA Mark of Inspection. The products were produced on April 1, 2013, and can be further identified by case code “6063A3091A” or “6063A3091B.” The products were shipped to distribution centers in Arkansas, Cali-
fornia, Montana and Texas and were intended for use by the National School Lunch Program. FSIS discovered the problem during an investigation due to customer complaints. FSIS and the company have received no reports of illness or injury due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an illness or injury should contact a health care professional. FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. Consumers with food safety questions can “Ask Karen,” the FSIS virtual rep-
resentative available 24 hours a day at AskKaren.gov or via smartphone at m.askkaren. gov. “Ask Karen” live chat services are available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. The tollfree USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline, 1-888-MPHotline (1888-674-6854), is available in English and Spanish and can be reached weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. Recorded food safety messages are available 24 hours a day. For information on how to report a problem with a meat, poultry or processed egg product to FSIS at any time, visit www.fsis.usda. gov/FSIS_Recalls/Problems_ With_Food_Products. summers, and to another successful summer classical music series.” Pasadena Entertainment has served as the production and marketing firm for the California Philharmonic and its concert series for the past four years. “We value the professionalism of Pasadena Entertainment as part of our marketing and production team,” said Pete Siberell, Director of Special Projects for Los Angeles Turf Club. “Teaming up with California Philharmonic has been a great opportunity to develop Santa Anita Race Track as a premier concert venue.” And the close to 20,000 people who attended California Philharmonic’s 2013 Festival on the Green at Santa Anita Race Track couldn’t agree more. Equally enthusiastic, are the 10,000 fans who filled last season’s sold out concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall and showed their
appreciation of the revered orchestra with an unprecedented five standing ovations during the final performance of the season. The transition of California Philharmonic to Pasadena Entertainment from the nonprofit CalPhil Foundation began earlier this year. CalPhil Foundation (not the California Philharmonic), will phase out through bankruptcy. Under its new organization, all past and present professional obligations with California Philharmonic musicians have been met. A new collective bargaining agreement has been set and California Philharmonic is moving forward with the Musicians Union and its members in good standing. “AFM, Local 47 is pleased to announce that all back wages owed to California Philharmonic musicians for services rendered have been paid,” comments John Acosta, Vice President of
Local 47. “Pasadena Entertainment has stepped up to take on the proud tradition of California Philharmonic, providing summer concerts in Los Angeles County. Local 47 and its new partner Pasadena Entertainment look forward to a long and successful relationship!” The musicians echo the excitement for the future of California Philharmonic along with the Union, the orchestra’s ever-growing loyal fan base and the venues. “Maestro Vener and California Philharmonic create the kind of energy that John Mauceri, Arthur Fiedler and Leonard Bernstein brought to the concert stage,” says Dennis Karmazyn, California Philharmonic’s principal cellist. “California Philharmonic takes the audience on a musical journey.” Subscriptions and tickets are available for the 2014 summer season.

accepting that this is going to become the new normal in America, we cannot let that happen. We’re have to find out a way to move those folks in the Senate and move people here in the House, and just make forward progress. I’m not willing to accept, and I think Americans are not willing to accept that this is just going to become a fact of our lives now.” On need for contractor
oversight: “We’re going look at the background check system. And, I think there are overlaps with Snowden, particularly some vulnerabilities that we have when there is new derogatory information on someone who has already gotten the clearance – how do we get that into the system to either have that security clearance pulled or make sure they don’t get another. “I think we do use con-
tractors too much; we are too reliant on them. And, in fact, we’ve shifted a lot of functions that are inherently government functions, particularly in the intelligence arena, to private contractors that we shouldn’t do, that I think was done under this kind of overarching philosophy, let’s privatize things, but the essential government functions ought to be kept within the government.”
