INTRODUCING THE NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Followingacomprehensivesearchandselectionprocess,theBrockvilleand DistrictHospitalFoundationBoardofDirectorsispleasedtoannouncethe appointmentofLeePigeauasthenewExecutiveDirector.

Leehasworkedinthenon-profitsectorforcloseto30years.

“LeebringstremendousexperienceandexpertisetohisnewroleasExecutive Director.HisexperienceandsuccesshavebeenbasedonLee’scommitmentto importantcausesandbuildingpositiverelationshipswithdonors,volunteers andthoseheworkswith.Thiswaskey,anditiswhatcontributedtoLeebeing therightfitfortheBDHF,”saysLindaHansen,BoardChair.

Lee’spreviousleadershipexperienceinthehealthsectorincludesExecutive DirectorofSoldiers’MemorialHospitalFoundation,andDirectorof PhilanthropyforQueenswayCarletonHospitalFoundation.

LeehasalsoservedastheNationalExecutiveDirectorfortheCanadianHardofHearingAssociation,andasCEOfor HabitatforHumanityHuronia.AsanadjunctfacultymemberofGeorgianCollege’sFundraisingandResource DevelopmentProgram,LeetaughtandmentorednewfundraisersacrossCanada.

Inanticipationofhisnewrole,Leestates,“IamreallyexcitedtojointheteamatBrockvilleandDistrictHospital Foundation.Communityhospitalsarevitallyimportanttotheoverallwellbeingofanytownorcity.Itiswherethe communitytakescareoftheirown.Beingapartofthatisextremelyrewarding.”

LeejoinstheFoundationatanexcitingtimeasweembarkuponourMRI/EquipmentCampaign.“Welookforwardto welcomingLeetotheFoundation.WeknowthatwewillbenefitgreatlyfromLee’svastexperience,”saysBoardChair, LindaHansen.

TheBoardoftheBDHFispleasedtoannouncethatJoanSimonhasmovedintotheexcitingnewroleof MajorGiftsandDonorRelations.

Joanhasspent14yearscraftingrelationshipsthroughoutthecommunityand shewantstoconcentrate hereffortsondonors,strengtheningthoselong-standingrelationshipsandbuildingnewones-allin supportofBrockvilleGeneralHospital.JoanwillcontinuewiththeFoundationsupportingourmost generousdonorsandensuringalldonorsareproperlythanked.

"IthasbeenaprivilegetohaveservedastheExecutiveDirectorfortheFoundationforthepast14years, saidJoan.“Ihavealwaysbeengratefulthatweliveinsuchagivingcommunity,andIamthrilledtobe transitioningintothisnewrole.Itwillbeanhonortobeastewardofourdonorswishes”.

“JoanSimonhasworkedtirelesslyasourExecutiveDirector.Sheishighlyrespectedbyourcommunityaswellasotherhospita foundationleadersacrosstheprovinceforhersignificantachievements,”statedMariliesRettig,PastChairoftheBDHFBoard. couldnotbemorefortunatetohaveJoancontinueherworkwiththeFoundationfocusingsolelyondonorsaswepreparetoembark uponanequipmentcampaignandtoaddressthecriticalneedsofBGH.”

TheGuyfamilyhashadatraditionofgivingtothehealthofourcommunitysince1999.ItbeganwiththeProstateCancer ResearchTournamentattheHighlandGolfCoursefor12yearsuntil2011andthentheCommunityCareandShare TournamentwhichsupportedtheBrockvilleGeneralHospitalsCardiovascularprogramuntil2016.Thefamilytradition ofgivingcontinueswiththerecent$250,000donationbydaughtersofCharlieandKayGuy,CarolDunn,andCathy Thomas,towardsthepurchaseofanMRImachinefortheHospital.Thegenerosityofthisfamilyhasresultedinover $800,000insupportoftheneedsofBGH.

TIM HORTONS—15 YEAR PARTNERSHIP AWARD

DONOR SPOTLIGHT

WewouldliketothankthefundraisingeffortsofTheJoyceGroupforthe2022Smile CookieCampaign,whichwasheldattheirBrockvilleTimHortonslocations.Withalittle helpfromtheBrockvilleandDistrictHospitalFoundation,anditsvolunteers,Smile CookieswerealsosoldinBrockvilleGeneralHospital’scafeteriaandintheBrockville GeneralVolunteerAssociation’sCafe.Thisyear’sSmileCookiecampaignraisedan astounding$24,482!ThedonatedfundswillgotowardsthepurchaseofanMRI,and SuitetohousetheMRI,forBrockvilleGeneralHospital.

InrecognitionofTheJoyceGroup’s15-yearpartnershipwiththeBrockvilleandDistrict HospitalFoundation,theFoundationispleasedtopresentShaneJoyceandNatashaAvis, ownersofTimHorton’sBrockvillelocations,withanawardfortheirlongstanding commitment.Overthepast15years,theSmileCookieCampaignhasraisedan astonishing$226,844insupportoftheHospital. Thesefundshavegonetopurchase manydifferentitems,whichincludeachestcompressionsystemfortheEmergency Department,blanketwarmersforIntensiveCareUnitandMedical-SurgicalUnit, chemotherapychairsforAmbulatoryCareUnitandmanyotheritemsforvarious locationsthroughoutthehospital.

AubreeandGradySpicerareshownselling lemonade.Thetwosiblingsraisedmorethan $150forpalliativecaretohonourtheir Uncle,RayPlace,whopassedawayin August.

OnSaturday,October1st,the BrockvilleDistrictShrineClub presentedtheHospitalFoundation with$5,000forpediatricservicesat BGHincelebrationofTheShrine Club’s100yearanniversary!

WearethankfulfortheShrineClub’s graciousgenerosityovertheyears.

Thethemeforthisyear’sFriendsofPalliativeCareGolfTournamentcouldwellbe….“They did it again”!!

AverysincerecongratulationsandthankyoutoJimCooper&DavePublowandtheirverydedicatedcommittee membersonthetremendoussuccessofthe29thAnnualFriendsofPalliativeCareGolfTournament.

Itissuchanincredibleaccomplishmenttohaveraised$332,000towardsourgreatlyvaluedPalliativeCareProgramat BGH.Itisrecognizedthatthissuccessisadirectresultoftheirdedicationandtirelessefforts.

Whilewearesofortunatetohavesuchagenerousgivingcommunity,theirplanningandorganizingandgameday oversightplayedaveryintegralroleinbringingthemanyvolunteers,generoussponsors,donors,Foundationstaff,and enthusiasticgolferstogethertoensuresuchanenjoyableandsuccessfulevent.

Wearelookingforwardtothe30th Annualcelebrationsfornextyear’seventthatwillbetakingplaceon Wednesday,August30th,2023.

Wheneveryouneedit,oursurgicalteamishereforyouandyourfamily.

Thisfall,youmaybereceivingaletteraskingforyoursupporttopurchase newlightingforouroperatingrooms.Excellentlightingisessentialin providingthebestcarepossible,quitesimply,youwantyoursurgeontobe abletoseewhattheyaredoing!
