On a day when Tennessee amassed 25 hits, Lady Vols pitcher Ivy Renfroe stole the show by throwing her first career no-hitter. The 5-foot-10 right-hander (18-2) was dominant in an 11-0 victory over Western Carolina, striking out seven and facing just one batter over the five-inning minimum. Erinn Webb and Kat Dotson hit home runs for No. 17 Tennessee (30-7) in a 14-0 win in the opener at Lee Softball Stadium. The game also was shortened to five innings. Cat Hosfield earned her 12th pitching victory, working three innings. "The mark of a good team is playing well in games in which you are favored,'' Lady Vols co-head coach Ralph Weekly said. "We're proud of the way our team came out and took care of business in both games of the doubleheader. Ivy Renfroe and Cat Hosfield both had tremendous outings in the circle while our posted 25 total hits." In the second game, freshman Lauren Gibson had three hits and three RBIs. Webb and Dotson had home runs. Women's Tennis: The 16th-ranked Lady Vols (12-6, 6-2 SEC) close out the home SEC schedule this weekend against rivals Florida and South Carolina. The No. 4 Gators (18 -8, 8-0) will be at Barksdale Stadium (formerly Varsity Courts) today at 4 p.m.
