STUDENT SERVICES & POLICIES FAQS

STUDENT SERVICES FAQ What is the meal plan?

Where and when do I purchase my textbooks?

All freshmen are required to be on the 18-meal plan with $150 Dining Dollars per semester. Dining Dollars come preloaded with your meal plan and must be used by the end of each semester.

Textbooks are purchased online and shipped directly to campus from our virtual bookstore. Textbooks are not sold on campus. Textbooks will be available for purchase online through your student’s RavenZone account beginning July 15, 2020.

What are Raven Bucks? Raven Bucks work like a convenient debit system, using your Benedictine student ID card. At any time you may deposit funds onto the card (a minimum of $5 will start your account) and you can use your card at many locations across campus, including all campus dining facilities. There are no fees to use Raven Bucks, and they don’t expire. To close your account, simply contact the Benedictine College Business Office for further details.

How can I add to my Raven Bucks? You may add to your personal Raven Bucks online before you come to campus, using a credit card through a secure link on the Benedictine website at Benedictine.edu > Resources > Raven Bucks. You should have received your unique login information to view and purchase Raven Bucks, along with your other passwords. You can also deposit money on your Raven Bucks account during move-in weekend, or by mailing or walking a check to the Business Office, to the Cashier’s attention. Include a note indicating your name as it appears on your student account, your home address, and your student ID, if known.

How can I use my Raven Bucks? Once you deposit funds into your Raven Bucks account, you can use your Benedictine ID in many ways: at all dining locations across campus, at Rocky’s Copies or at WEPA printing kiosks, select vending machines, and the Raven Store. 18

What laundry, vending, and recreational services are available? All residence halls are equipped with washing machines and dryers. The washing machines and dryers are free for residential students. Vending machines are in most hall lounges, along with a TV, and a kitchenette with a stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave, and sink. Other recreational areas on campus include outdoor grills, a hammocking area, sand volleyball, racquetball, ping-pong, pool tables, track, tennis, basketball, a weight room, and a recreation center.

What monetary transaction services are there on or near campus? Atchison has several banks that offer financial services, including “student-priced” checking accounts. We highly recommend you visit with the banks and consider establishing an account; some community businesses will more quickly accept checks from students when the checks are drawn from a local bank account. A UMB Bank ATM machine is located on campus in the JPII Student Center and several others from various banks are located throughout the City of Atchison. The College Business Office issues student account bills as well as work-study payroll checks. Direct deposit of payroll checks has replaced issuance of paper checks. Direct deposit is available to both local and non-local banks and is highly encouraged for its overall convenience and security. The Business Office will cash personal checks for students in amounts under $50. For more information, call the Business Office at 913.360.7403.
