DHS WELCOMES NEW LEADER
DHS WELCOMES NEW LEADER
BY: TRICIA SIMPSON
Mr. Chisam is the new principal at DHS for the 22-23 school year. He is originally from Osawatomie, Kansas which is a small town south of Olathe, Kansas, so coming to DeKalb wasn’t a huge jump for our principal.

Before coming to DeKalb, Mr. Chisam was previously a coach and teacher at Platte County Middle and High School, Osawatomie Middle and High School, and Wellsville Middle and High School.
During high school, his principal was his dad, so it's kind of ironic that he became a principal himself. He used to think being a principal was one of the last things he would do, but during his college baseball career, he had decided he wanted to become a coach.
Although Mr. Chisam was originally a coach, after speaking with his colleagues he realized that he likes the “leadership aspect of being a head coach and being a principle has similarities except now you’re the coach of a whole school.""
Mr. Chisam also would like to say “I’m excited to be here at Dekalb High School and Middle School, and I’m excited to be a Tiger. I’m looking forward to the future and there’s lots of great students here. I'm looking forward to being able to help”. Welcome to the Tiger Family, Mr. Chisam!
