DEKALB FOOTBALL TAKES ON 2022 JAMBOREE

On August 19, the high school football team traveled to North Andrew to take on North Andrew, Platte Valley, and Plattsburg in the annual Football Jamboree. The football team beat North Andrew with the defense not letting North Andrew score.
According to Freshman Ryder Hawk, there were a few defensive and offensive mistakes in the Jamboree, but with time they can be fixed. Hawk was also quick to add, “I mess up a lot too.” Senior Chris Weinmann states that the team was “more open-minded, more fast paced, and more into the game.”

Coach Wardlow has high hopes for this season: “If we stay healthy, I think we can do better than last year.” Weinmann agrees with Coach Wardlow that the season could go better than last year if everyone stays away from injuries.
Hawk also agrees that the season is going to go well if all the freshmen can learn the game. Ryder also says “If we do the plays right, we can score.” With only a few Seniors it makes it harder to have an experienced team, but Wardlow thinks this can help because the Seniors can teach the Freshmen everything they need to know.

This year the boys are taking in everything Coach Wardlow says and being ready to learn, so on Friday nights they can step on the field and leave with a win. Even though there are things they need to work on, they will get better over time. Support also gets the boys more into the game, so make sure to watch and cheer for your Tiger Team every Friday!
