NURSING WEEK CELEBRATED
ACROSS THE PROVINCE BCNU members across the province celebrated National Nursing Week May 5-11. The union ran radio ads honouring our members starting May 6th, running right through to LPN Day on May 13th, and newspaper ads calling for BC’s nurses to be given a leading role in healthcare planning. Nursing Week’s theme this year was Nursing: A Leading Force For Change. The week coincided with the BC Provincial Election. Many members took the opportunity to call on candidates to listen to BC’s nurses and remind politicians they must fund the promise to hire over 2,000 more nurses to provide safe care in BC. 1.
