Masters

A Masters degree is a postgraduate qualification, typically taking one to two years of study, which allows students to delve deeper into their chosen field of study, enhancing their knowledge, critical thinking and research skills.

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Certificate in Education (Cert Ed)

A PGCE is a one-year post-graduate qualification which is recognised, and allows you to teach different age groups, across the world. Study combines experience in the classroom alongside academic theory.

Degree (BA, BSc, BEng, LLB)

A Bachelors Degree can also be known as an undergraduate, first or honours degree. It typically takes three years fulltime or four years part-time to complete. ‘Bachelors Degree’ is the broad term given to a full undergraduate degree but there are different designations depending on your subject: ‘Bachelor of Arts (BA)’, ‘Bachelor of Science (BSc)’ and ‘Bachelor of Engineering (BEng)’. LLB is the abbreviation for the Bachelor of Law Degree.

Top-up Degree

Designed for students who have successfully completed a Foundation Degree or a Higher National Diploma. A top-up course, or progression route, allows you to enter the final year of university study so you can upgrade your qualification to a full degree - this typically takes one year of further study, full-time.

Foundation Degree (FdA)

Foundation Degrees combine practical work-based learning with academic study and aim to train you for a specific job. The qualification is often favoured by students who want to work and study at the same time. Once you have completed your Foundation Degree you can go straight into work or you can ‘top-up’ your studies to achieve a full degree.

Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ)

We offer an advanced level of training, focused on a specific technical field, to give you the practical knowledge and skills required to perform complex job roles and valuable work experience.

Higher National Certificate and Diploma (HND/HNC)

HNCs and HNDs are work-related courses which focus on ‘learning by doing’ and are designed to give you specific work skills. A full-time HNC takes one year to complete. A HND is the next level up and takes two years to complete full-time or three to four years part time.

Generally, a HND is equivalent to the second year of university and can be used as a stepping-stone to a full degree.

Foundation Entry

Foundation Entry Degree courses are ideal for students who have the ability to study for a degree, but do not have the necessary qualifications. An additional preliminary year of study will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to progress to your chosen Honours Degree.

Foundation Entry Degrees are different to Foundation Degrees, which are usually offered over two years and require a further top-up to gain an Honours Degree. These are an additional year at the beginning of your undergraduate degree.
