Students who already have some business and IT experience will learn data communication and network theory plus the design, installation, and administration of multi-platform networks. All programming courses begin with Introduction to Software Development 1 (COMP 1409) followed by Introduction to Software Development 2 (COMP 1451). These are the foundations in object-oriented programming (OOP) and are the prerequisites for all other intermediatelevel programming languages. If you are serious about becoming an application programmer, you should understand multiple programming languages and environments.

APPLIED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT –ASSOCIATE CERTIFICATE bcit.ca/6958acert Learn to design, build, and deploy software applications. This program is aimed at three audiences: students who want to learn programming, existing programmers who want to learn new languages, and candidates for advanced programming credentials. Applied Software Development is the first step towards the CST diploma and degree, as well as the prerequisite for the three higher-level credentials: Web and Mobile Application Development, .NET Application Software Development, and Advanced Java Web Development.

ADVANCED JAVA WEB DEVELOPMENT –ASSOCIATE CERTIFICATE bcit.ca/6445acert Advanced Java Development is a second-level credential that is built on top of our Applied Software Development Associate Certificate. You must already have full understanding of OOP. Systems analysis and design are also required in order to properly understand these higher-level Java courses. Graduates of this program will be able to build and deploy Java webbased and large-scale enterprise applications.
