COMP 2654 Data Communication and LAN Design*
Databases and information systems are part of most organizations at all levels. Computing (COMP) courses in relational database cover in-depth, current industry standards and start with Relational Database Design and SQL (COMP 1630).

APPLIED DATABASE ADMINISTRATION AND DESIGN– ASSOCIATE CERTIFICATE bcit.ca/6994acert Most organizations have PC databases on networks. This hands-on program teaches how to design and manage medium- to large-scale databases to industry standard. Students will learn aspects of relational database design, systems analysis and design, plus higher-level administration, reporting, and business intelligence. Many of these courses provide preparation for industry certifications.

COMPTIA A+ HARDWARE TECHNICIAN bcit.ca/computing/pts CompTIA A+ is a computer industry certification that is recognized around the world. The CompTIA certification process is separate from BCIT and requires that an exam be written through a third party. The purpose of this course is to prepare students for the A+ industry certification. Please search ‘CompTIA’ online for details about A+ as well as the exam process.

APPLIED NETWORK ADMINISTRATION AND DESIGN –ASSOCIATE CERTIFICATE bcit.ca/5515acert This hands-on program teaches the design, set-up, and administration of local- and wide-area networks. Students who already have some business and IT experience will learn data communication and network theory plus the design, installation, and administration of multi-platform networks. Many of these courses provide preparation for industry certifications.
