Community Service Clubs & Lodges The Historic Battleford Lions Club The Historic Battleford Lions Club (chartered in 1976) and the Battleford 2000 Lions Club (Chartered in 2000) amalgamated in 2014 and are now jointly called The Historic Battleford Lions Club. The Lions motto is “We Serve” Our club “serves” our community by supporting local people, projects and events and we feel that giving back to our community helps make our community a great place to live.Working in partnership with other Lions members is an invaluable and fun experience, fostering positive personal and professional relationships. We organize the Christmas Bazaar, held the first Saturday of December, and the “We’ve got you covered” Community Garage Sale, held the first Saturday in May, as well as numerous other activities.

Ionic Lodge No. 31 A.F. and A.M. Ionic Lodge No. 31 was instituted in North Battleford in 1906. It is a fraternity which ‘Takes good men and makes them better’ through a rich history of allegory, symbols and brotherhood. Although not strictly a service organization, the philanthropy of the Order is Youth. Ionic Lodge provides awards to the Musical Festival in Speech Arts; and sponsor a young boy or girl to a provincial youth program designed to improve leadership skills. As well, the Masonic Youth Trust Fund provides scholarships to further student education. Ionic Lodge No. 31 meets on the second Friday of every month except July and August. This year, we will be organizing an event in conjunction with the International Street Performer Festival in July and also organizing “The Operun” in October to raise funds for the Opera House in Battleford. Funds raised are dedicated to specific projects or are distributed to local people, projects and events throughout the year. We also support organizations that deal with diabetes, sight, the elderly youth, culture, sports and recreation. As Lions, we support project Pride and Lions Dog Guides and other events sponsored by Lions International and the Lions Foundation of Canada. We also “serve” by volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program, by volunteering to host a birthday party at Battlefords District Care Centre, by planting trees in our community and in many other ways.
