Milena Korolczuk (ur./b. 1984)
Milena Korolczuk mieszka w kalifornijskim Oakland. W 2010 ukończyła studia na Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Poznaniu. Jej prace to przede wszystkim fotografie i filmy, pokazujące w dojrzały sposób obraz nowego pokolenia młodych artystów. Jej sztuka przedstawia świat własnych doświadczeń kulturowych i pokoleniowych. Jej prace były prezentowane na targach LISTE w Bazylei oraz NADA w Miami. Od 2014 roku artystka zajmuje się pisaniem scenariuszy i rozwija swoje zainteresowanie filmem fabularnym. O pracy: Korolczuk jest autorką cyklu mikrorzeźb przedstawiających filozofów, artystów i ikony popkultury ulepionych, co znaczące, z popularnego amerykańskiego pieczywa „Wonder Bread” a następnie sfotografowanych. Wonder to po angielsku „rozmyślać” a sam chleb, będący tworzywem rzeźb, również jest nacechowany symbolicznie. Wierne odzwierciedlenie ikonicznych dla szerokorozumianego świata kultury postaci w chlebowej materii stanowi ironiczną wypowiedź artystki, efekt uboczny jej śniadaniowych rozmyślań.
Milena Korolczuk lives in Oakland, California. In 2010, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. Her works are primarily photographs and films, showing in a mature way the image of a new generation of young artists. Her art presents the world of her own cultural and generational experience. Her work was represented at the LISTE in Basel and NADA in Miami. Since 2014, the artist has been writing scripts and developing her interest in feature film. About the artwork: Korolczuk is the author of a series of microfigures depicting philosophers, artists and pop culture icons that have been made, significantly, from the popular American brand ‘Wonder Bread’ and then photographed. Wonder also in terms of reflection and the bread itself, which is the material of sculptures, is also marked symbolically. Accurate rendition of iconic figures in bread matter for the broader world of culture is the artist's ironic statement, a side effect of her breakfast meditations.
