Les Amis Bake Shoppe is a fullservice specialty bakery and coffee shop owned by Stephanie Bueche Hansen. The shop opened in August 2013, featuring handcrafted baked goods and desserts for retail and commercial sales. Everything is made from scratch in-house, handed down from family recipes. Les Amis prides itself on exceptional customer service and fresh products—no premade mixes, fillings, buttercreams, etc.

WHAT CAN MAKE THE EVENT PLANNING PROCESS OVERWHELMING OR STRESSFUL?

Lots of things! Event planning involves many tasks like scheduling, selecting, purchasing, and sometimes even DIY crafting. I find that if the planning process becomes overwhelming, it’s crucial to take a step back and reassess, scaling back where necessary in order to enjoy the process. I highly recommend considering hiring a professional coordinator or seeking out a fullservice venue that provides a coordinator and handles certain details, particularly for larger-scale events. It can significantly alleviate the stress of the planning process.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE LAST-MINUTE CHANGES OR UNEXPECTED CHALLENGES DURING AN EVENT?

Every event inevitably encounters unforeseen or lastminute challenges, but most can be overcome smoothly. Frankly, guests often don’t notice every detail as keenly as the hosts do. By putting yourself in your guests’ shoes and visualizing the event from their perspective, you can make decisions that ensure your vision is maintained and your guests are well taken care of. This approach allows for flexibility and adaptability when it comes to those unexpected challenges.

WHAT SETS YOUR EVENT PLANNING SERVICES/VENUE APART FROM OTHERS IN THE INDUSTRY?

It’s my approach – I try not to strictly adhere to established etiquette or tradition. Instead, I prioritize meeting the unique needs and visions of my clients. If the traditional practices don’t resonate with their preferences or beliefs, I’m committed to finding innovative ways to tailor the event to truly reflect their individual style and vision. Each event is driven by a distinct goal, and I view the process of creating that vision as an opportunity to showcase diversity and personality!

WHAT MAKES EVENT PLANNING A REWARDING JOB FOR YOU?

Event planning is profoundly rewarding for me, it brings me so much fulfillment and joy – It’s personally the most gratifying job! Helping craft memorable celebrations fills me with genuine happiness, knowing I’m contributing to the creation of so many cherished, lifelong memories - whether it be for weddings, corporate events or any celebrations in between. Having so much experience in and working across so many of the various aspects of this multifaceted industry, I’ve gained invaluable insights and cultivated a deep love for every aspect of it.

Dates are filling faster than ever, so starting early is great but being flexible is even better! Venues may ofer great deals if you’re willing to look at a date that they need to fill versus high demand times. Always keep an open mind. What may look like a modern meeting room during the day, can take on a whole new identity at night with just a few adjustments to the lighting, linens, and ambiance. Lastly, lean into the advice of the professional you’re working with. Its their job to make yours easy and they know their space better than anyone.

Going small on sweets makes a big impression at a party.

Rather than a large pan of dessert, serve individual portions. Timeless favorites like Mississippi Mud Pie, Classic Banana Pudding and Ooey Gooey Pies work great in small portions. Serve in tiny glasses or disposables with a silver or even a gold spoon and display on acrylic tray. Add whip cream and garnish for a polished, photo-worthy look. Guests love it and are more likely to pick up and enjoy individual desserts.
