Adult Variety
Fast & Fabulous Cards
Ages 18+
Don’t have a lot of time to make cards? Can’t get out in the evenings for classes? In this class, you will learn techniques for creating fast & fabulous cards that will wow your recipients but will only take a short time to make. You will learn to make 4 cards in only an hour. Each session will feature different cards, and all will include birthday, thank you, thinking of you, and a seasonal card. You will have a variety of greetings to fit several occasions. Registration deadline is noon on Thursday, 03/09.
Feel the Love Card Stock Up
Ages 18+
Nothing says “I care” like a handmade card. We will create 10 cards (2 of each design) to have on hand for those special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, and Valentine’s Day. Each card can be customized with the greeting of your choice. We will be rubber stamping, using designer patterned paper and trending embellishments. All supplies and envelopes included. Registration deadline is noon the day before class.
One-Sheet Wonder
Ages 18+
In this class you will learn how to turn one sheet of paper into a bunch of wonderful cards using a template. Making that first cut is so much easier when you know where you’re going with the whole sheet of paper. All supplies are included and templates will be provided so you can make cards at home with all your extra paper! Please bring your own paper cutter if you have one. Registration deadline is noon on Thursday, 03/09.
Tiny Notes
Ages 18+
One of the most popular classes is back! These 3 x 3” cards are perfect for gifts, lunchboxes, and more. We will create a set of 16 cards (four each of four designs). These cards can be customized with greetings of your choice including birthday, thank you, baby, thinking of you, and those for other occasions to provide a variety of cards. Registration deadline is noon the day before class.
WOW Cards
Ages 18+
Are you ready for more advanced card designs? Do you love layers, embellishments, techniques, and bling? This card class is for you! We will make two “over the top” cards each class. New cards will be featured each month so sign up for all sessions. Registration deadline is noon the day before class.
Learn to Knit a Scarf
Ages 18+
In this six-week course, you will knit a scarf, learning how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. Please bring two skeins of medium or worsted weight yarn and 1 set of knitting needles (straight or circular) size 7 or 8.
Advanced Knitting
Ages 18+
In this class, you will learn the technique of knitting in the round, and will make a cowl for those cool fall evenings. Please bring 1 skein of yarn – worsted weight preferred—and size 7 or 8 circular needles. Please note this is a six-week course.
Horsemanship for Adults

Ages 16+
Join in the fun at Dunham Woods Farm with beginning riding lessons! Our teachings are based on tradition and looking to the future. You’ll learn all about the proper ways to groom, tack and handle horses. In the saddle, you will learn the basics of riding at the walk and trot. Riders should wear jeans or Jodhpur pants and hard-soled riding or hiking boots with a small, low heel. Bring an approved riding helmet or bicycle helmet. Registration deadline for session 1A is 01/13. Registration deadline for session 1B is 03/24.
Tai Chi

Astronomy Seminar

Our presenters from the Fox Valley Astronomical Society will share with you the captivating story of the James Webb Space Telescope: What it is, how it works, and of course, the stunning images that help unlock the history and reveal the beauty of our universe.

Propagating Annuals from Cuttings
Ages 18+
Learn how to grow annuals from cuttings with Batavia Park District’s very own grower, Antonio Salazar. You will learn how to take stem cuttings, root them in soil, and grow them to be planted the following spring. This class will run on either 02/25 or 03/04, the date depends on the maturity level of the plants being used in the class. Please check our website or call us in February for the exact date. This class will be held at Batavia Park District’s maintenance facility at 700 South River Street.

Basic Car Maintenance
Ages 14+
In this class you will learn how to check a vehicle’s fluid levels and tire pressure, as well as how to change a flat tire. Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothes appropriate for a maintenance shop environment. This class will be taught by Mitch Dienst, Batavia Park District’s own mechanic, and held at our maintenance facility at 700 South River Street
Candle Making
Ages 18+
Lighting a homemade candle in the winter is a great way to bring warmth and comfort to your home. Learn how to make your own customblend candle with an instructor from Gia Bella Designs. You will receive an introduction to candle-making and get a guided, hands-on experience with the process from start to finish. Choose from a selection of phthalate free, nontoxic fragrances. Make your own 10-ounce candle using eco-friendly, paraffin free, coconut/apricot blend candle wax.

What Is That Ringing?
Ages 18+
Find out what Tinnitus is, why it occurs and what you can do at home. This course will present information to help those who suffer from tinnitus take back control. 45-minute presentation with Q&A after.
College: Getting There from Here
Ages 16+
Whether your children or grandchildren are learning to crawl or learning to drive, you can help make a college education a reality. Our presenter, Giana Ferrari Ayers, Financial Advisor at Edward Jones, will discuss questions to consider as you establish a college savings goal. You will learn strategies to help you reach your goal, and the features and benefits of 529 education savings plans. A beverage and light snack will be provided.

How do you start preparing for retirement? How do you translate your vision for retirement into tangible goals? Attend this presentation to learn investment strategies to help design the retirement you want. Giana Ferrari Ayers, Financial Advisor at Edward Jones, will explain how you can add flexibility to your strategy to help you handle unexpected events and how you can keep your strategy on track. Simplify your Spending and Saving Strategies
Ages 14+
This workshop is designed to help you sharpen your spending and saving strategy. Giana Ferrari Ayers, Financial Advisor at Edward Jones, will lead you through the basics of budgeting and the importance of managing credit and debt. A beverage and light snack will be provided.
Lunch and Learn: How to Avoid Scammers
Ages 18+
Join us for lunch and a presentation by Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain about how to stay safe in the digital age. Sheriff Ron will speak about common internet scams and privacy invasions as well as how to protect yourself while using your device and going online. After his presentation, we will enjoy a delicious lunch of tacos, rice, and beans provided by Fernando’s Street Kitchen of Batavia. Register by Monday, January 23.
