Splash Day
The Morning Program and After Camp Program are charged at a rate of $6.00/hour and are billed after use. Children must be 3 years of age and potty trained to stay past 3:00 p.m. A family’s second and each subsequent child will be charged half price for morning and after camp fees. The Morning & After Camp Program is only available for children who are enrolled in our summer camps.
Weather permitting each Friday, we will have Splash Day. Please send a bathing suit and towel with your child each Friday. Water shoes are optional. Our splash day typically consists of an inflatable slide, inflatable pool, and sprinklers. Participation is optional, but should your child not participate they will still be outside with the rest of their camp.
Meals & Snacks
All medications MUST be given to the front office and the appropriate forms completed. Regardless of age, students are not allowed to keep medication on their person, in their bags, or in their locker. Please be specific when leaving instructions.
Send your child with a packed lunch each day and a cloth mat to place their lunch upon. Please do not send items that need to be refrigerated or microwaved. Campers will not have access to either. Should your child be in a camp that has field trips, please be aware of the circumstances of that trip and pack your child’s lunch in the appropriate bag or cooler. Children need to bring their own utensils. Snacks are provided in the morning. You are also free to pack your own.
Naps For Ms. Crystal Sorrow’s camp, naps are required for all children from Noon - 2:15 p.m. each day.
Dress Code All campers must wear closed toed shoes. No crocs, flip flops, sandals or any other slide on. Our camps are often active outside and at minimum have time on the playground. Proper footwear keeps them safe. Please send your child in comfortable attire that can get dirty. We recommend appropriate length shorts and a t-shirt. Skirts are allowed, but should have bloomers or leggings underneath as our camps are very active.
Medications
Terms Due to high demand and limited camp space, a nonrefundable deposit equal to one week’s camp tuition is due upon enrollment to hold a spot for each child. This deposit will be credited towards one of your registered weeks. All changes and cancellations must be done in writing a minimum of four weeks before a scheduled camp - all fees are 100% non-refundable after that time. Changes inside four weeks are possible, but only within the same week of camp, with camp director approval, with space available, and a $25 fee. Should a camp be canceled for any reason, you will have the option of choosing another camp with no penalty or receiving a full refund for that week. Some camps may have an additional field trip and/or supply fees and parents may be needed to drive.
Beginners Camp | Ages 2 - 4 Ms. Crystal Sorrow
The Beginners summer camp is a Montessori hands-on curriculum combined with weekly educational fun themes, arts and crafts, music, and playground fun! Every Wednesday is dress-up day, corresponding with the weekly theme. Splash Day is each Friday. Full and Half Day available. Nap is Noon to 2:15 p.m. for Full Day campers. June 11 - 15: Music Makers - Craft, create, and syncopate! Dance with the rhythm, beat on the drum, spin, grin, move your body, and revel in the fun. This week’s camp will consist of making simple instruments, listening to many genres of music, dancing with props, and having a blast as we explore how music makes us feel and move. June 18 - 22: Little Chefs *Additional fee for this week. - Come explore implements, ingredients, and techniques as you cook up some excitement! New food tastes better when you make it yourself. Throughout the week there will be peeling, slicing, mixing, and more. We shall eat the tantalizing results for snack each day. Dress as a chef on Wednesday and splash down on Friday! June 25 - 29: Jedi Training Camp - A long time ago in a little house far far away there was a group of young padawans who learned to be compassionate wielders of the force. They enjoyed art activities,
explored the outdoors, and enjoyed water activities, much like those found on the planet of Kamino. July 2 - 6: Imagine that! Fantastical Beasts and Fairy Tales (No Camp Wednesday, July 4th) - Imagine swimming under the sea with the merfolk, dancing as a unicorn, and flying as a dragon in our week of fantasy fun. We will make and decorate items that bring our dreams to life during this week of camp and talk about real animals that have similar traits. Dress up on Wednesday to cavort and frolic with your classmates. July 9 - 13: Ahoy, Mateys! - Join the crew of Captain Crystal Blackheart as she sets sail on the high seas. All buccaneers welcome. Shanties shall be sung, treasure discovered, and eye patches adorned. Show off your finery on dress-up day and walk the plank on splash day. Never has such a crew sailed into port at MMS. July 16 - 20: No Beginners Camp
Preschool & Kindergarten | Ages 3 - Rising Kindergarten Ms. Elizabeth Falls *Students must be potty trained and no longer require a nap. The Preschool/Kindergarten summer camp’s focus is to engage the children in theme-related activities utilizing the Montessori hands-on curriculum. They will experience fun educational activities including music and songs, arts and crafts, cooking, and indoor/outdoor games to continue their love of learning through the summer. Splash Day is each Friday. June 11 - 15: Wild, Wild West - Yeehaw! Grab your cowboy boots and hat as we explore the wild, wild west! Some activities planned include panning for gold; learn to Do-Si-Do; play western games such as Pass the Rattlesnake and Pin the Tail on the Donkey; create some western arts and crafts and bake Cactus Cookies! June 18 - 22: Hawaiian Hullabaloo - Join us for some oceanside fun! We will take a peek under the waves to learn about ocean life. We will create ocean arts and crafts! June 25 - 29: Animal Planet - Join us as we learn interesting facts about some unique animals that live on our planet! Activities planned include a visit from students from the Zoo Animal Technology Program at Santa Fe College; playing zoo keeper for the day (stuffed petting zoo); learning the Chicken Dance; playing animal charades and creating animal food art snacks to eat. Arts and
Craft activities like animal sock puppets and making a birdfeeder for our feathered friends are also planned. July 2 - 6: Science World! (No Camp Wednesday, July 4th) - Science activities are an important part of a child’s learning experience. Come join us as we encourage children to wonder about the science around them. We will do fun science activities/experiments to inspire science inquiry and to stimulate their learning of science! July 9 - 13: Artful Antics - Come and experience the joy and fun that art can bring! We will be using various forms of media to create unique art pieces. July 16 - 20: Ahoy! Pirate Week - Arrgh! Set sail with us as we go on a Pirate Adventure! We will take a voyage into fun-filled art projects (i.e., creating treasure maps and Caribbean-themed painting) going on a Treasure Hunt and baking Monkey Bread!
Elementary Enrichment | Rising 1st - 3rd Grade Ms. Joanne McFarland & Ms. Widline Senecharles June 11 - 15: Little Sprouts - Join us while the weather is still relatively moderate to learn all about plants! We will hoe, plant, sprout, water, and beautify a garden plot at MMS, and also grow potted plants to take home and nurture. Each day will include a craft, working outside (weather permitting), and a lesson about the life cycle of plants. We’ll be digging, hoeing, and weeding, so wear clothes that can withstand some dirt! June 18 - 22: Culinary Kids *Additional fee for this week - Let’s get cookin’! Rising 1st through 3rd graders will learn how to make and cook a variety of dishes. Some will be cooked in the oven or on the stove, and some will be a no bake recipe. Then comes the fun part - we get to taste our creations! We will also make a craft in this camp, too.

June 25 - 29: Future Scientists - Engage your mind and stretch your horizons through hands-on, lab-based science activities. We will use inquiry-based learning techniques, constructed by true scientists, to discover the world around us. But don’t worry, parents, it will be safe for the little ones!
July 9 - 13: Around the World - We will “visit” a different country every day in this camp for rising 1st through rising 3rd graders. Each day we will learn about the culture from different countries, and make a craft, have a snack, and play a game from that country. Join us for a trip Around the World in Five Days!
July 2 - 6: Junior Builders *Additional fee for this week. (No Camp Wednesday, July 4th) - In Junior Builders camp, we’ll be using age appropriate materials to build sculptures, cities, birdhouses, and more! We’ll learn all about how to build things - out of cardboard,
July 16 - 20: Water Week - Let’s get wet! This week will be about playing water games and splashing around! Wear your bathing suits, bring a towel, sunscreen, and a change of clothes and let’s soak up the sun and water!
Elementary & Middle School Enrichment | Rising 5th - 8th Grade Ms. Susan Hansen
June 11 - 15: Amazing Race G’Ville *Additional fee for this week. Roadblocks, detours, pitstops - teams will complete a variety of challenges along the way in the spirit of the popular reality TV show. Geocaching and Archery challenges, as well as an old fashioned obstacle course await. We will challenge the mind as well with strategic board games, escape room games, and racing board games. Who will be the Amazing Race G’Ville champion? June 18 - 22: Hexagometry *Additional fee for this week. This week we will explore that cool place where art overlaps with math. We will explore string art, hexaflexagons, look at geometry with an artistic eye, and even take a field trip to the art museum to examine geometric influences there. We will go to the Cade Museum to explore Fibonacci! We will also play some hexagon based games like Settlers of Catan, Hive, and Takenoko. June 25 - 29: Brain Games *Additional fee for this week. - This is a week to flex your brain! Play strategic board games, learn how to solve a Rubik’s cube, Explore trompe l’oeil and learn how to draw an impossible cube. Take a field trip to the Cade to explore 3D printing and explore makerspace activities while building a hydraulic claw. Learn how to trick your brain and how your brain tricks you! July 2 - 6: No Camp July 9 - 13: Board Game Designers - This week we will delve deep into board game design. Students will first learn by doing as we

play with a variety of different game mechanics: worker placement, card drafting, deck building, etc. Then students will chose a theme and apply these mechanics while developing a game of their own. We will even take a field trip for lunch at our friendly local game store. At the end of the week, campers will host a game day with one of the other camps as we play our new games. July 16 - 20: Ages 11 - 15 Babysitting Training - Campers will learn the basic skills needed to babysit. In addition to getting first aid and CPR certifications, the campers will complete the online modules of the Red Cross Babysitter Certification course. We will also make a few crafts to help aid future baby sitters such as a quiet book, an activity kit, and a tote to hold all of the babysitting supplies. We will end the week with a celebratory field trip for lunch where certificates will be awarded. *Certification fee for this camp.

Elementary & Middle School Enrichment | Rising 2nd - 8th Grade** Mr. Richard Aslanian & Ms. Sherilyn Farris Field trip camps must be reserved no later than Thursday at noon the week prior to the camp start date. June 11 - 15: Let It Fly This week is all about exploring things that fly through the air. Our campers will design and build different kinds of catapults, kites, rockets and more. We will learn about the science of aerodynamics, the history of flight, and the future of space exploration. Join us for a week of science, flight, and fun! June 18 - 22: The Great Outdoors *Additional fee for this week based on the price quoted when the number of campers has been finalized. Our goal is to put the SUMMER back in summer camp. This week will get our campers back outside to the roots of nature, literally. Campers will learn about aquifer systems before jumping into a refreshing Florida spring, how to bait a hook before reeling in a big one, and maybe even see a bald eagle or a white-tailed deer while hiking a nature trail. As we explore our local community, campers will gain a better understanding of the Florida aquifer system, the geology of our area, and the importance of local wildlife conservation. June 25 - 29: Construction Junction Additional fee for this week. Strap on your tool belt and get ready to build! Our campers will be guided through hands-on projects that have them crafting, building and decorating their works made of wood, PVC, and more! Our builders will learn about simple and complex machines, use mathematics to measure pieces, as well as the materials and tools used to create their masterpieces. Fun games will round out the activities. Join us for a great week of building!
July 2 - 6: Science of Summer (No Camp Wednesday, July 4th) Additional fee for this week based on the price quoted when the number of campers has been finalized. Staying active in the Florida heat isn’t always easy. This week will keep our campers in motion in places where we can stay fit in air conditioning or in the water. We’ll work out our upper body and core with bowling, get a great all over cardio burn at Bouncin Big, then put our swimming skills to the test at Hart Springs. Add in learning about the science and physics behind all the activities and our camper will have a blast! July 9 - 13: Full STEAM Ahead! What do straws, modeling clay, spaghetti noodles and glue sticks have in common? Why STEAM projects, of course!! STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics and this week our campers will use all of those skills and a variety of materials to design and build robots, solar cars, and hydraulic bridges. Then the campers will use their artistic skills to give their constructions a personal touch! Come and enjoy a fun week of thinking, creating and experimenting! **Week 5 only available to 4th through 8th graders. July 16 - 20: H2OMG Additional fee for this week based on the price quoted when the number of campers has been finalized. The last week of MMS summer camp needs to be a memorable one, so grab your bathing suit and towel for this week of nothing but aquatic activity. Our campers venture off site to get wet and play in the Florida sun, highlighted by a trip to Aquatica in Orlando. We will have one splashtastic day on site with water based activities all day. Let’s sunscreen up and go have some H2OMG FUN! **Week 6 only available to 3rd through 8th graders.
Technology | Rising 3rd - 8th Grade, Drama | Rising 5th - 8th Grade Ms. Sylvia Aslanian June 25 - 29: Technology Camp This week beginning coders will explore programming languages by learning the basics with Tynker, Kodable, Coderz and Code.org. More advanced coders will continue building on their knowledge. All coders will be guided through step by step lessons at their own pace. Available to Rising 3rd through 8th grade. July 9 - 13: The Greatest Show There is an additional $20.00 supply fee for this camp. *Parents are to provide transportation during the two theater days. Ms. Liz Bublitz will be joining Ms. Sylvia Aslanian to co-direct! Back by popular demand, The Greatest Show is the third installment of the Broadway Now camps. In this musical theater camp students will hone their auditioning, acting, singing and dancing skills. They will learn about some of Broadway’s and movies’ most popular shows and learn what it takes to be a “triple threat performer.” At the end of the week the cast will present a show at Abundant Grace Community Church. All students must attend camp all week from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Camp is held
on MMS property Monday - Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and at Abundant Grace on Thursday and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The performance will be on Friday at 1:30 p.m. All students must have black shoes, black t-shirts, black long jeans for the performance. July 2 - July 6: Music Madness! (No Camp Wednesday, July 4th) Welcome to music madness! Do you love music but performing makes you nervous? Do you love performing and are interested in performing YOUR OWN music? This week is all about learning the ins and outs of making music, not just performing it. Music theory is the practice and possibilities of music and that’s exactly what this week is all about! Learn music theory through fun Montessori games, move from station to station to test your music knowledge, learn to read music, learn how to play the recorder and boomwhackers, write your own song that will be performed at the end of the week! And don’t think Ms. Liz forgot about songs and dances! Lots of new games and dances to learn as well! Come and enjoy music like you never have before at MUSIC MADNESS!

After Camp Studios Afternoon Academics Individual Lessons with Ms. Elizabeth Falls | $55.00/session, plus after camp program fee of $6.00/hour Ms. Elizabeth Falls will be teaching private lessons from 3:30 - 5:15 p.m. each afternoon. Lessons will focus on math and language (PreReading/Reading and Handwriting) lessons are open to all Preschool through elementary students. Lessons are filled on a first come first serve basis and will be offered every afternoon in 45 minute increments (3:30 - 4:15 p.m. & 4:30 - 5:15 p.m.). In order to keep the lessons individualized, please note there is a two student maximum per session. Allergies & Food/Diet Restrictions
MMS incorporates food preparation in the Montessori curriculum area of Practical Life **MMS does not have a nurse on staff. The teachers and assistant teachers are all certified in first aid and CPR. MMS can give medication orally or assist with an Epi-Pen if the parent has filled out the appropriate form for the dispensing of medicine. **If a child is allergic to an ingested substance (such as red food coloring or chocolate) and is old enough to monitor himself or herself, there should not be any difficulty in the MMS environment. It is the parent’s responsibility to have alternate food available for birthday parties or the child can be proactive and abstain from special snacks. Junior Counselor | Rising 9th - 12th Grade | MMS High School Alumni June 11 - July 20, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Not all Camps are available each week. No camp fee charged.
Become a member of the MMS Summer Camp Crew! Requirements: Applicant must be a rising 9th through 12th grade student and prior attendance at MMS summer camp is desirable. Must have an interest in leadership skills, willingness to learn, a positive attitude and understand organizational skills and group dynamics. Must have an ability for and an interest in assisting with a variety of activities including all camps being offered at MMS. Must have a genuine interest in working with people. Jr. Counselors will be required to sign a policy manual form. All Junior Counselors are expected to set an example by following the school’s dress code.
Junior Counselor’s roles are to: • Participate under supervision of Camp Directors and implement activities in safest manner possible • Actively interact with the children to promote and encourage their personal growth • Assist in creating online camp newsletter and/or social media posts
Personal Development: • Develop skills in planning and implementing activities with children • Be prepared to receive feedback and support from anyone at camp • Maintain a positive and open outlook • Learn to serve in a role under the guidance of a camp director • Be a positive role model for the children. Encourage good behavior with attention and appropriate affection
The Junior Counselor program is sponsored through the MMS PTO, a not for profit organization. Junior Counselors will receive volunteer credit hours which are needed for high school graduation and are often helpful in scholarship and grant applications.
