I refer to Mrs Baileys letter in last months issue of the Barnsley Eye regarding poor digital TV reception in Hemingfield, Wombwell and Hoyland. All of these areas can have bad aerial reception and could easily have inadequate aerials fitted to receive all the digital Freeview channels available. It is like buying a new car and trying to run it on leaded petrol - it will work but not very well. These problems can also occur with faulty equipment. Considering how much we pay for our TV license and new TV’s, a new digital wideband aerial is a cheap investment considering that they usually last in excess of 15 years.

BNP on the Rise in the Local Elections What a shame it was to see our town on the news last month for all the wrong reasons. (yet again) The BNP are on the rise...and the folk interviewed by “Calendar” seemed to be proud of the fact. I found this very sad especially as I am of mixed race and born in Barnsley. The majority of town folk I meet are always full of humour and good cheer and not fuelled by hatred as are the BNP. via email, name withheld.
The Barnsley Rat Pack? While we were out and about last month we spotted these 8 dapper geezers rolling out of a stretch hummer - where they footballers? A group of Actors? We’re still not sure... although we will say this .... they were the coolest thing we’ve seen in town since the winter of ‘94. Are you one of these super cool dudes....? Let us know.

You Can Tell It’s Summer with the Smells Filling the Air...... What is the point in complaining about BFC ....they are absolute rubbish anyway. They always have been and always will be. Fair enough ...they had a decent team in the early 80’s with Glavin, Mills, Aylott and McArthy but thats about it.....Sheffield United are the best team in S. Yorkshire and everyone knows that - so it’s pointless complaining!
