BQ Chain Bags are rectangular bags utilised by many of the most famous electric chain hoists used in the entertainment industry, such as Classic and New Lodestar, Chain Master, Liftket, GIS type and RWM chain hoist for upright or inverted hoist use. Available in 5 sizes, the bags are held by two high resistance polyester straps which take the weight of the chain and distribute it over the upper metal frame. The two straps criss-cross at the bottom to increase the loading capacity and prevent the bottom from falling through even in the case of very long chains. Available in 3 sizes, the bags are held by one high resistance polyester strap which takes the weight of the chain and distributes it over the upper metal frame. BQ Stagemaker chain bag SPECIFICATIONS

BQ Stagemaker line of chain bags are designed for the SR line of Stagemaker chain hoists and are suitable for motor up (lifting, upright) mode and motor down (self-lifting, inverted) mode. They are made of 840 denier woven polyester with two coats of resin to protect the chain hoist from the elements. The bags are held by two high resistance polyester straps which take the weight of the chain and distribute it over the upper metal frame. Identification HEAT PRESSED BRAND LABEL

Oscar Wilde once said, â&#x20AC;?Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.â&#x20AC;? During the last ten years, the BQ Chain Bag design has become very popular and nowadays the market provides many bags with similar size and dimensions to BQs original models. Although shapes can be identical, materials and manufacturing techniques are not. We therefore have a duty to make sure that users can identify our bags, and their outstanding quality of production, without confusion. Thus from 2016, BQ has manufactured all its chain bags with a heat pressed BQ logo, pressed into the supporting belts. DOUBLE CROSS SEWING

A full chain bag can weigh up to a quintal. The majority of this weight is held by the supporting belts that cross the bottom of the chain bag and end with an upper loop where the snap hook is connected. The fabric itself also supports a substantial part of the chain load weight; it is distributed around the metal upper ring, which in turn is connected to the supporting belt. The weakest point of any chain bag is the stitching strength and design. BiQuadro uses sophisticated manufacturing technique to ensure the quality of the sewing is supremely robust giving strength throughout the life time of each bag. A distinctive technique is the double cross stitching where the outer and inner belt overlap.

CAPACITY LABEL

Inside each BQ chain bag there is a label with Part number, SWL, Safety Factor and References for four of the most commonly used load chains. Other measurements can be found in Bi Quadro sales and product literature.

Capacity Test DEFINITIONS Spilling point: During normal operation, point in which the chain could start spilling outside the chain bag. 100% capacity: The maximum amount of load chain a bag can contain. Safe working capacity: The safe amount of load chain a bag should contain to prevent the spilling point condition. SPILLING POINT - TEST CONDITION 1. Chain bag hanged, attached to a chain hoist. 2. Load chain partially lubricated/dry (worst case scenario). 3. Chain bag filled up in fall-free mode (chain hoist was filling the chain bag). 4. Chain bag not shaken during tests. 5. Chain hoist speed: 8m/min and 4m/min.

We measured 6 sizes of chain bags with two types of chain: 7.9 x 21.7 and 7 x 22 load chain. During the test we identified a common pattern which helped us to reach the conclusions weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ll state below. COMMENTS Within each spilling point test, we noticed that the length of chain necessary to reach a dangerous condition (a chain link above the upper edge of the chain bag opening), varies a lot. We recorded the worst case value of the 3 tests we perform for each chain bag. In some circumstances a 75% capacity would just guarantee a safe working capacity, in other cases 75% was not enough. CONCLUSIONS The test confirmed that a chain bag average safe working capacity might correspond to 50% of the chain bag capacity, although in certain circumstances 75% of capacity could be considered safe. The 50% capacity parameter is also in line with the technical requirements as listed in some European Code of Practices concerning the use of electric chain hoists in the Entertainment Industry. BiQuadroâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s chain bags capacity data will remain untouched. As a general guidance, Biquadro reccomends to use 50% of chain bag capacity as safe working capacity. BiQuadro will add this safety warning in all its chain bags inner labels.
