The 2020 Annual Meeting of Oklahoma Baptists, which marks the 114th annual meeting of Southern Baptists in Oklahoma, is set for the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Broken Arrow, First, 100 W. Albany Street. The program will feature times of preaching and essential business, including officer elections.

Clyde Cain, a well-known Oklahoma Baptist pastor and ministry leader, died on Oct. 6. Cain, 85, was reportedly struck by a motor vehicle in a parking lot following a morning event at Edmond, First, according to news TV reports. Cain, who served as a pastor, denominational leader and more, retired from Oklahoma Baptists’ state convention in 2002, having served 28 years with Oklahoma Baptists, including in the areas of evangelism and ministry leadership. /// SEE PAGE 7

How to bring joy to your pastor >> PHILIP JONES

“Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you” (Heb. 13:17). A pastor’s work is never finished. When he goes to bed Sunday evening, the last thoughts on his mind are the things that he will need to attend to the following week. Even on his days off, the pastor is never off. A simple trip to the hardware store usually leads to a ministry encounter or two. /// SEE PAGE 10
