This 2014 Banovich catalog collection is inspired by E.O. Wilson’s quote; each item is a masterpiece, assembled and carefully curated with much thought, precision and care. The team at Banovich Art, as well as our creative partners, are dedicated to the idea of a perfect union between functionality and fine art, and we strive for this in everything that we produce. We hope you feel the quality evident in each limited edition canvas, each hand crafted leather pillow and marble coaster and every beautiful piece of hand engraved crystal. Our creative teams work with overwhelming enthusiasm, transforming my original ideas from oil paintings to functional fine art that becomes a portal to the beautiful and dramatic places of our dreams. I also want to share with you the exciting announcement that we are opening our new showroom this coming January. Located just minutes from the stunning Yellowstone River in Montana's Paradise Valley, the showroom sits just north of Yellowstone Park and is set among the glorious backdrop of the Absaroka Mountains. After visiting five countries in four weeks, I have just returned to my studio after a month long journey to my beloved Africa. Personal up close encounters were the agenda, filling each day with many adventures…and Africa delivered. The wise words of E.O. Wilson remind me how feeble the artistic pursuit, as it attempts to capture each species through paint and canvas. Each is an exquisite result of millions of years of perfected evolution, witnessed in a moment’s look within the eyes of an animal.

JOHN BANOVICH (b.1964) is an American oil painter known internationally for his large, dramatic portrayals of iconic wildlife. Today, Banovich’s work can be found in museum, corporate and private collections. While Banovich is most closely associated with African species, namely elephants, lions, leopards, cape buffalo and rhinoceros—he’s been to Africa three dozen times on research trips—he has also won accolades for his realistic interpretations of Siberian tigers, Chinese pandas, and North American megafauna (such as grizzly and polar bears, bison, and puma). Born in Butte, Montana, Banovich emerged as a talent to watch two decades ago when his paintings were selected “Best of Show” two consecutive years at the Pacific Rim Art Expo, then the premier showcase for wildlife art in the world. Since then, Banovich’s work has appeared in many prestigious venues, including the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum’s Birds in Art show, the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum, traveling exhibitions sponsored by the Society of Animal Artists and showcases hosted by Safari Club International and Dallas Safari Club. Further, a selection of his finest pieces were recently featured in an elegant coffee-table picture book, “Beast: The Collected Work of John Banovich.” Besides achieving uncommon popularity among collectors seeking originals and giclée canvas reproductions offered in limited edition, Banovich has tried to be a wildlife art innovator in using his paintings to raise awareness about imperiled species. He attracted global attention for his unprecedented 10 x 10-foot square, life-sized painting of an African elephant, titled , “Once Upon A Time,” completed to help draw attention to the growing plague of ivory poaching. Under the umbrella of the Banovich Wildscapes Foundation, money generated through artwork sales has been channeled back to support grassroots conservation efforts that promote habitat protection, science-based wildlife management and sustainable tourism. Over the years, the foundation and its partners have raised millions of dollars.

| LIMITED EDITIONS Giclée is an elegant, state-of-the-art method of reproduction which provides a vibrant color rendition of an original painting. Resulting from the marriage of art and modern technology, giclée canvases faithfully reflect the vibrant color, rich detail and texture of the original oil painting. “Giclée,” a French printmaker’s term for “fine spray,” was adopted to distinguish the technique from ordinary offset printing. Giclée canvases have a 50 year warranty. Banovich giclées are offered in three sizes. Each canvas is numbered, hand-signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity as well as care instructions.

Queen Lace Crystal is distinguished by its practice of the Renaissance technique of copperwheel engraving. Copper-wheel engraving is considered by many to be one of the rarest, most demanding and most difficult of art forms. The image is carved by hand into the crystal with tiny copper grinding wheels. The scale is small but delight is found in the wealth of details. Every piece of heirloom crystal is hand-held to one of fifty flying copper-wheels as each stroke of the design is engraved by the hand of a master craftsman into the crystal. The few dedicated artists who are qualified to do copper-wheel engraving combine their talent, expertise and discipline of drawing and sculpting to produce some of the most exquisite crystal available in the world.
