PRIYA CANDIDATE

Priya Dutt Roncon, born 28th August 1966 is an Indian politician. She was first time elected to the 14th Lok Sabha from Mumbai North West constituency in Maharashtra on 22 November 2005, representing the Indian National Congress party. She is currently representing Mumbai North Central constituency in the 15th Lok Sabha since 2009. Priya is the daughter of the late Bollywood actor and politician Sunil Dutt, and actress and politician Nargis. She received her B.A. degree in sociology from Sophia College, Mumbai University. She is also a Post Graduate Diploma in TV Production from Center for Media Arts, New York City, U.S.A. During a tense political period in 1992-1993, Priya worked with Muslim refugees in Mumbai. She reported receiving threatening telephone calls and public harassment. In 2005, despite a low voter turnout, she won her seat in the Lok Sabha by a margin of 172,043 votes over a rival candidate from the Shiv Sena. Dutt received considerable media attention for this victory, partially on account of her famous family and the fact that she had given birth to her first child a few days before the election. Since her election, Priya has been appointed secretary of the All-India Congress Committee. Priya also runs a charity, The Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust. Recently Priya spoke out her views on the sex workers at Kamathipura and asserted her pro-legalisation stance regarding prostitution. Priya is a Trustee of the Spastic Society of India. She is associated with Public Health Organisation to generate awareness on AIDS and drug abuse and to promote education. On 12th Aug 2013, she had written a letter to the Western Railway General Manager to provide direct trains from Bandra to Mangalore. Priya got married to Owen Roncon on November 27, 2003. The couple has two sons, Siddharth and Sumair. Priya has traveled widely across the world and her interests include travelling, reading and research. She also enjoys water sports like Scuba Diving. SPOKESPERSON

Mayank Gandhi, AAP Spokesperson’s take on the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls. In the last month, AAP leaders have said that BJP is the party's main rival. There is a lot of disgust in the public against all the sitting MPs in Mumbai. They have not done any work. Wherever we go, people are telling us that they have not seen their MP in the last five years. The huge anti-incumbency factor against the Congress and NCP will help us in a big way. Mumbai is also the stronghold of the Shiv Sena. But we will counter traditional Marathi voters? They have done nothing constructive. These political parties, ruling and opposition, are hand in glove in Maharashtra and are equally involved in corruption cases. Now, people are sick and tired of these political parties. We want to give an alternative to these established political parties, which is why many people are choosing AAP over them. We are taking up various issues which include slum housing, electricity tariff, housing and water. We are preparing policies on these issues and the research work is going on. Recently, we held a seminar on a few issues. We will expose how malpractices are taking place in these sectors, how the money is being looted and what our plan is to address these issues. Just now, we exposed an electricity scam. Similarly, we will soon take up other key issues. There are four ways to do extensive campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections. One is that we are making complete structures from Assembly coordinators, ward co-ordinators and polling booth-wise teams, consisting of 2-3 people. These people will do the door to door campaigning. Further, we are forging alliances with various groups such as social groups, religious groups, rickshawallahs, taxiwallahs and others. Third, we will hold Jan Sabhas, at least one every day. Fourth, we will be doing a "BUZZ" campaign. The buzz campaign is where youngsters take to streets. Other political parties underestimate us and we are happy being underestimated by them. We don't make tall claims like they do. It will be pre-mature to say how many seats we will win. But, we will do the best efforts that we can do. Recently, we have done an internal assessment for Mumbai North West constituency and it is very positive. A similar exercise will be done for other constituencies also and it will not be once but multiple times. The AAP contestant for the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls from Mumbai North Central will be announced soon.

POONAM CANDIDATE

Poonam Mahajan Rao, born 9th December 1980, in a Maharashtrian family is a politician of the BJP in India. She is the daughter of Mrs. Rekha Mahajan and the late Pramod Mahajan, who was one of the leaders in BJP. Her brother is Rahul Mahajan. She is married to Anand Rao Vejandla, an industrialist from Hyderabad. Following her father's murder in 2006, Poonam Mahajan joined the BJP as a normal member of the party, with the encouragement of her uncle GopinathMunde, himself an ex-Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra state. Now, she is the national secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party. In the run up to the Lok Sabha elections, she made efforts to register new and young voters in south Mumbai and subsequently expected to get the LS ticket from that area. However, due to internal differences within the party and with Shiv Sena, she was denied a ticket. She is one of the few young leaders present in the BJP fold and thus expected a ticket to be rewarded on youth appeal. Poonam lost the 2009 Maharashtra assembly elections against an MNS candidate from Ghatkopar West. A senior BJP leader told us, “Mahajan has worked hard for herself in the last few years. She is a changed person, not the same one who lost in the assembly polls (in 2009). She worked her way into the RSS, where many leaders in the last few years have struggled to get into. She is amongst the youngest to be the national secretary of the party.” Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha is the youth wing of the parent body and as per internal constitution it elects/selects a new team after every 3-5 years. On 13 August 2010, Poonam Mahajan was made National Vice President of BJP Yuva Morcha. She is contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha Polls from Mumbai North Central.

Women's Fiesta

A ' Women's Fiesta' was organised at Khar on Friday, 14th March, 2014. Cyrus M Gonda interviewed the organisers of this unique event. Who are the people behind 'Women's Fiesta?' Its the two of us, Neha Chandna (Ranglani), I'm a dietician cum nutritionist, and there's Anju Kishinchandani, a sex educationist. What is 'Women's Fiesta' all about? Its primarily a meaningful and a fun event. Its a platform where women can come together, learn things, enjoy, and most importantly, just be themselves. And of course, its a No-Man Zone. Right from the DJ, the photographer, the videographer, the entire event is successfully organised and executed by competent women. How many times has this event been held before? This is the first time its being held. In fact we conceived the event just 15 days ago. Its been ideated, organised and put in place in just a short span of 15 days. Congratulations. Its a great job. What gave you the idea to host it? Initially, we wanted to organise a talk for women on Women's Day on the topics of nutrition and sex education. From there, the idea grew into a complete event. So we started off with educating women on just two topics, and then expanded to add fun events, pole dancing, belly dancing, shopping and even a fabulous lunch. We also had talks by subject experts on hair, image management, jewelery, numerology, and of course both of us spoke on nutrition and sex education. Wow, that's quite a handful. How did you go about promoting it in such a short span of time? We did it almost completely through social media. FaceBook, Twitter, SMS, and then we put up a few posters at strategic locations in Khar. I can see a lot of women here and they're all enjoying themselves. Its a successful event. Who would you say is your target audience? We have women ranging from the ages of 13 to 80 here with us today. And most of them are from Lokhandwala, Juhu, Khar and Bandra. So when is the next 'Women's Fiesta' coming up? Hopefully soon. In a few month's time. We had a truly terrific response and we'd like to thank all the women who turned up and made it special. Any message for our women readers? Yes. Women - Don't forget to love yourselves and don't forget to have fun. Cyrus M Gonda

NCP Spokesperson Asif Bhamla organizes Huge Medical Camp at Bandra Reclamation Bandra Buzz recently met NCP Spokesperson Asif Bhamla at his office, off Perry Road. He passionately told us how a huge medical camp was organised by the NCP; on the occasion of the birthday of their leader, Hon. Sharad Pawarji. Asif elaborated how the Bandra Assembly segment, which comprises of sizeable slum pockets desperately needed health attention for dengue, diabetes, malaria, etc. Through the research team of the Bhamla Foundation, they understood that instead of wasting their efforts on publicity hoardings, posters, etc.; they would channelize their efforts on a more constructive & significant cause. He emphasised, What better than doing a medical camp in Bandra? Further, Asif added, We had the initial launch at the Bandra Reclamation in the presense of very esteemed NCP leaders, the Hon. M.P & the President of Mumbai NCP, Sanjay Patil, Hon. Minister Mr. Sachin Iyer, Hon. Minister Prasad Lad; along with a sizeable number of people who attended. Thousands benefited from this FREE medical camp. More info & pics can be viewed at www.bhamlafoundation.com Last fortnight, my party leader, Hon. Pawar Saheb thought that there should be much younger faces to represent the party views to the people of our state & the country. It was fortunate that I was chosen to put forth the views of the NCP which is why they appointed me as the NCP Spokesperson. As such, I would be representing the ideals & policy of the NCP - in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections, the stand of the party. I send my warm regards to the people of Bandra-Khar-SantaCruz. Bandra Buzz congratulated Mr. Asif Bhamla on being the new NCP Spokesperson. Joshua D’Mello

The heat is on. Out there, it is a war of words. Right now, Bandra seems to have an unholy calm. However, under currents of frenzy activity cannot go un-noticed. The numbers say it all. tronic ballot units the largest and lengthiest democratic exercise in the world. The country added more than 10 crore voters since the last election five years ago, and significantly, those in the age group of 18 to 19 years will constitute 2.88 per cent of the total number of voters as against a mere 0.75 per cent in that age group in 2009. In and around Bandra it is Priya Dutt vs AAP vs Poonam Mahajan. This time, women will fight it out in a bid to represent our neighbourhood in Parliament. The AAP candidate too could be a woman. Women power at its very best.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR SUPPORTING SHANE Mr. Shane Cardoz wishes to contest for the upcoming elections to the Lok Sabha on an AAP ticket (Aam Aadmi Party). We whole heartedly support his candidature, and wish him all success. We have known Mr. Cardoz for a number of years and he is an upright, honest man, and a lawyer to boot, a rare qualification in these days of utmost corruption and chicanery. We require men of his stature and standing to uphold the rights of the common man, and bring about a long overdue change in government. Greg & Shanaz Gomes

CARTER PROMENADE CARETAKER CONFUSION The KBS Foundation claims to be a nonprofit, non-political, non-sectarian, social and charitable organization, based on community participation and formed by 5 associations / ALMs of Khar, Bandra as permanent members. They further claim to be a group of committed and concerned citizens who have come together to voice common concerns of the citizens and to undertake projects across various localities of Khar, Bandra and Santacruz - to fulfill a common and passionate objective of cleaner, greener and beautiful surroundings for a better quality of life. Can somebody tell me who are theses concerned Citizens, and their links with politicians? Confusion prevails in my mind, as to who are the Caretakers of Carter Road Promenade. Is it: 1. Bandra (W) Residents Association or 2. KBS Foundation Are Bandra West Residents Association and KBS foundation two sides of the same coin? I was under the impression that a statue of late Roshan Dabhoiwalla was being installed, as she has done a lot for Carter Road Promenade. However, I was disappointed that a Big Bat was installed, As far as I know Sachin did not contribute a pie to the Carter Road Promenade, nor does he contribute anything to the poor and needy - and Bandra in particular.

I personally feel that the Bat should be removed and a statue of Roshan should be installed. Also, the marble flooring should be removed and non-skid tiles be fitted. Leslie Almeida

AAP - BOUQUETS & BRICKBATS There is an unholy nexus of corrupt political parties, Corrupt Business Groups, Corrupt Bureaucrats, Paid Media groups and corrupt elements in Judiciary prevailing in this country. Each of these takes the help of others, to pin down people who question their corruption. If one fails, then they employ another and together they have so far always succeeded in silencing the voice of the common people against corruption. These vested interest groups are now feeling threatened by AAP which has become the last hope of the common people. Therefore it is no wonder that these vested interest groups are now working 24x7 to malign AAP by misrepresenting facts. Paid litigations, Paid news, Paid commentators in media discussions, Paid internet articles, and Paid Trolls. They have launched a media campaign to confuse people by branding the sincere efforts of AAP to change the present corrupt systemas being Anarchist, Arrogant, Maoist, Gimmickry, Nautanki, Blackmail, Drama Baazi, Intolerant, Unable to Govern, running away from responsibility, undemocratic, unconstitutional etc. The excessive targeting, criticising and threatening of AAP will soon backfire and AAP will only grow stronger and stronger. Jayesh Anand Desperate are the Modi Baiters, so they support the comedian Kejriwal. No sensible person can ever even consider Kejriwal as a leader, that to - a Governance material? Elections are around the corner and I wonder how people will react after the moment of truth. Hari Ganatra

We in Bandra are fed up of both the Congress & BJP - and their scheming ways to get visibility on any pretext. Their past records are really bad, as once they come to power, it goes to their head and they only focus on filling their own pockets. The AAP seems to be the correct alternative, if they can deliver. Give them a fair chance. Corruption is the key issue of any country. If it is controlled and all authorities are made accountable, everything will fall into place. People need to understand that Arvind Kejriwal is fighting to save the people of India from people who have sold the country and its precious resources - by betraying the trust of millions of voters. This time, vote with your conscience - without the bait of money or linked favours. Vote of a better, brighter India. Or‌ be ready to let these goons grind us to the ground - for the next 5 years. The choice is yours. Hashim Khan Arvind Kejrival could not stay in office for even 2 months. How can we trust him to be the next PM ??? The Aam Admi Party definitely does not have administrative experience to run the country. So, I am sure it will not be voted to power. People are not all that dumb, to let a bunch of protesters rule them. You need people with long-term vision. Beena Shah AAP has evolved a lot since it was formed with passion. Passion to end corruption in India. That is why donations (from people, whose names are not hidden) are pouring in from all corners of the country. Surely, the righteous will win. Corrupt groups are joining hands to spoil the only chance to change the country and save it from sharks who are bleeding the people of India dry. These corrupt people co-operate with one another to perpetuate their illegal incomes. Please see through the false allegations of the Congress & BJP and read the real intentions of the AAP to save you & your future generations from doom. V. Paul

Kejriwal's Open Letter To Mukesh Ambani Dear Mr. Mukesh Ambani, You have recently sent a defamation notice to a number of TV channels. Their crime is that they aired the press conference held on the 31st October 2012 and 9th November 2012, by Prashant Bhushan and me, live. In our press conference, we presented before the country how you had illegally pressurized the government into increasing gas prices. We also told the country that your associates and your companies have accounts in Swiss banks where black money had been stashed away. Many TV channels aired our expose live. All these TV channels have now received defamation notices from you. I find it quite perplexing. If you feltthat you have been defamed by what Prashant Bhushan and I said, then we are the real culprits and, if you had to send a defamation notice, it should have been to us. The TV channels merely broadcastwhat we said. Despite this, instead of sending us the defamation notice, you have sent it to the TV channels. It is evident that your sole purpose of sending this notice was to steam roll the TV channels into subservience. THE PEOPLE OF INDIA WANT TO ASK YOU SOME STRAIGHT QUESTIONS: -Is it not true that the list of thosewho have accounts in Swiss Banks, as received by the Government of India, includes your name and the names of your relatives, your friends and your companies? -Is it not true that a balance of Rs. 100 crores is shown against your name in this list? -Is it not true that you have paid the tax on this amount after this list was received by the Government? -If the above is true, as we suspect it is, it

proves that you have admitted your guilt. As per the lawof the land, you should be tried and, if the charge of tax evasion isproved, you should be sent to jail. However, this would never happen. Why? Because the Government of India is intimidated by you. You have been reported as saying that the Congress Party has been bought by you it is your dukaan, to be precise. You are right. According to some media reports, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi sometimes travels by your personal aircraft. People believe that Mr. Jaipal Reddy’s ministry was also changed because of your influence. Why only the Congress? Even BJP and many other parties are in your pocket. Earlier, Mr. Advani used to make a lot of noise about Swiss Bank accounts, but since your accounts have been exposed, BJP has suddenly gone quiet. BJP has not mentioned a single word in the Parliament about your accounts. It appears that almost all parties are afraid of you. Most leaders are scared of you, too. However, the citizens of this country are not scared of you. All parties could be your dukaan, but India is not up for sale. India is ours, it belongs to the people of this country. You can purchase political parties and political leaders with your money but we will not let India be sold. You say that the TV channels have tainted your reputation by airing our press conference live. That’s wrong. I would urge you to answer this question honestly. Did Prashant Bhushan, myself and the TV Channels defame you or did you defame yourself through your own misdeeds? 1. In 2002, you gave 1 Crore shares with a market price of Rs. 55 per share to Mr.

Pramod Mahajan at just Rs. 1 per share. This was a straight bribe to get Full Mobility. When you were caught, you took back the shares. Presently, the matter is in court. Didn’t you defame yourself by doing this? 2. You have made your multi-storeyed residence on Wakfland. This land had been set aside for an orphanage. You have stolen the right of poor and orphaned Muslim children. Didn’t you defame yourself by doing this? 3. A few gas wells belonging to the country were allotted to you in 2000. You were supposed to extract gas and give it to the government. The gas belongs to us, the people of India. We are the owners of thisgas. You were only a contractor appointed to extract the gas. However, cleverly you became the owner of the gas. You started selling the gas to the government. Because the Congress is in yourpocket, it always bowed before your bullying. The Congress kept increasing the price of gas under your pressure and the nation kept wailing. Because of you, the prices of electricity, fertilizer and cookinggas kept rising. When it crossed all limits, Mr. Jaipal Reddy opposed you. He was the Minister for Oil and Gas at that time. You got Mr. Jaipal Reddy transferred. Because of you many things have become increasingly expensive in India and the people are groaning under the load of these high prices. Do these shenanigans suit you? Do such acts not defame you? The list of such illegal acts done by you is quite long. The majority of the traders, businessmen and industrialists want to do their work honestly. But the system forces them into wrong doings. But when a businessman like you brazenly-

subverts the system for his personal benefit, the entire industry and business world gets a bad name. You are on one side with immense wealth. On the other side are the people of this country. The people have now awakened. Fire is raging in their heart. History is witness that whenever there has been a clash between money and such rage, the rage has won. Kindly do not try to intimidate themedia of this country. There may be some media men who may have done wrong things themselves. Such mediapersons may succumb to your pressure. However, the majority of media persons keep the interest of the country at heart even today. They are not going to capitulate so easily. History witnessed that whenever the judiciary, bureaucracy and legislature crumbled, it is the honest fourth pillar, comprising such media-persons that keptdemocracy alive. You have invested in some mediahouses directly or indirectly. It is possible that these media houses do your bidding. However, the journalists working for such media houses will not barter their integrityso easily. -What is your dream? -Do you want to become the world’s richest person through dishonesty? -Suppose you became the owner of all the wealth in this country - would that make you happy? Happiness does not increase by accumulating more and more wealth. Happiness comes with sacrifice. If you stopped doing business dishonestly and contributed your wealth for the development of the nation, this country will remember you with pride forever. With Regards, Arvind Kejriwal

THE UNPLANNED PLAN!

tion for five minutes to see the renovations they had done.. What followed was..... ''Turned out to be a karaoke night inside and quite a busy one at that with the host Nash pulling every one by the ear and making them join. End result? Jo and I belted out two zappy numbers with the friendly crowd cheering us to go on. There we were, Jo and me, pretending to be Christina Perri and KC ! It was quite a sight, me in my rubber slippers and crumpled top and Jo head deep in the karaoke bible suggesting all kinds of new songs which I was outdated on.'' Staying till shut down and losing track of time, we headed home, giggling away at the surprise evening we just had. But the evening did not end there, we stopped on the way to give alms to a handicapped beggar, thankfully not getting out of the car. Almost hijacking us for half an hour with his endless talks and making it seem rude if we abandoned him, he explained to us about the internet, the time difference in the west and east, his grasp on the English language and a lecture on how the world works. All this in his Devanand cum Dilip Kumar accent! Finally we reached back to our respective homes, both of us realising that day, that to capture the essence of Bandra, ''You didn't have to go looking for it, you just had to let Bandra come to you...........'' Kainaz

They say that ''life is what happens to you when you busy making plans.'' And that's exactly what happened to my good friend Jo(who also happens to be Bandra Buzz in charge) and me, one Wednesday night when we were merely catching up for a short drive. For a while, I have been wanting to capture Bandra at night but not being much of a photographer and not owning a decent phone, has always stopped me from getting out there and clicking away. So now that I finally do own a decent cell phone. I suddenly texted Jo one night that we should be going

around Bandra like professional shooters and getting 'the feel of the night'. Jo always the one to encourage my crazy plans, jumped in the car with me and off we set into the night, like we were on some big adventure. Me taking it to another level, wearing my oldest jeans, run down t-shirt, home slippers, hair tied up, the struggling artist look which I like to give myself while working on anything creative (adds more zing to the project). As we drove around for almost an hour, we discovered Bandra by night wasn't half as interesting as we both imagined it would be. Balloon sellers in hoards hung everywhere and before we could click them, they were falling over the car to sell their stuff. Next stop 'chaiwalas of Carter road', we made them pose for us but one grumpy one scooted off in the middle of the shoot and that was that! Children in the park at 11 pm, not sure in which other country they would let kids play in a park at that hour! Good thing to write about but we were in no mood to click swings and see saws. Urchins sleeping on the road, groups of bikers having shawrmas, joggers burning midnight calories at the promenades, Jo and me were just not inspired enough! After an hour of roaming around aimlessly, Jo asked me if I wanted to step into the 'I Bar' at Bandra Reclama-

SKIN & HAIR CARE TIPS FOR HOLI Holi is a colorful festival celebrated every year. Colorful powders of green, red, blue, orange, etc. are put on every ones face & hair which is fun but it also has a lot of damaging effects on hair, skin, body & health. As a hairdresser and beauty expert I’ve always had many colour corrections every year without fail ... so to prevent and protect hair & skin here are some useful tips for before and after one plays Holi.

FOR SKIN 1) First of all make sure you play with good quality holi colours with no chemical damage to the skin. 2) Moisturize and apply oil to face and body which will act as a protective shield for the skin. 3) Try avoiding colour entering your eyes and mouth. 4) After playing Holi make sure you wash skin well with a good face wash and try to do it instantly so that colour doesn't stay on skin. 5) Try and also remove colour with a makeup remover ( Maybelline makeup remover) or a cleaning cream.

FOR HAIR 1) First of all try not to get a colour job done before Holi especially a blonde or light browns because any colorful powder will catch instantly on a lighter shade of hair. 2) Before playing Holi wash your hair well with a good shampoo and a conditioning masque, so that hair cuticles close and only to some extent prevents colour powder to catch. 3) Apply Coconut oil to your hair before playing Holi as it coats the hair shaft and protects it. 4) If you have lighter and long hair. Try and tie it up or put a head band or some hair gear to prevent complete exposure to Holi colour. 5) And finally lets assume damage is already done.. go to your friendly neighborhood hairdresser and get her to colour your hair in a dark shade like a dark brown or black. Use a lot of conditioning treatment or do hair spas from time to time. Your hair will bounce back within no time. Michelle Ribeiro

The high-caliber sleeping bags provide impeccable comfort even in temperatures below five-degree Celsius. Backpacks of the most robust order are imported from England & France & are judiciously priced between Rs 1,500 - 10,000. Another illuminating item is the solar lantern costing Rs 1,190 which charges automatically on exposure to light. Trust me it looks like a small plastic bag & its really impressive. Travellers must also check out the unique torch, which enlightens a remarkable distance of 89 meters. How about buying a pair of socks, which you don’t need to wash for 5 days? Yes we are talking about an antibacterial & anti-fungal pair of socks, which is a camper’s “must-have”. The emporium is also a biker’s galore. Outstanding helmets of world-class standards manufactured by 'Lazer' are priced between Rs 11,500 - 49,000. Jackets, gloves & other protective armours for bikers are of multifaceted variety. CIVIC ISSUE

The 220 Mystery - Solved

Opp. Bandra Railway Station Though the heading sounds every bit as thrilling as the Bermuda Triangle or the Loch Ness Mystery, its not as important to the world as these mysteries are. Yet, for Bandra residents, its vital that a solution be found. So, armed with data, figures and statistics, and feeling sufficiently safe with this protective statistical gear, I set off to meet the spokesperson of the B.E.S.T. to find some answers. Welcome, welcome, would you like some of our B.E.S.TEA? he offered. Thanks, maybe later, I said. But first if possible, I'd like some answers to questions that are troubling our bus-faring residents of Bandra, I said. Yes, yes, anything for the dear citizens of Bandra, he said. What questions do you have?

Well, I began, there is bus, route number 220, running from Bandra station, west, to Khar station, west, via Carter road, and back again from Khar station, west to Bandra station, west, again via Carter Road..... Yes, yes, its a very nice route, he said. Nice sea-view.... Tendulkar's big bat on promenade....very very nice view. Then the pleasant smell of drying fish at KharDanda... Right, I interrupted him, before he became unstoppable. That's the route I'm talking about. Its almost a lifeline for the people of Bandra, especially those who can’t afford the luxury of a rickshaw. Oh dear, he said, rickshaws have become very expensive. Many drivers refuse to ply. That's why I always suggest to people of Bandra to travel by our lovely route 220. Exactly, I said. People WANT to

travel by your lovely route 220. The problem is with the scheduling of your lovely route 220. Problem? What problem, he said, looking agitated. there is no problem. It’s a beautiful route.... I know, I know, I hastened to assure him. The problem is not with the route. The problem is with the frequency. One 220 comes after half an hour. Even though its overcrowded, especially at peak-time, people waiting at the bus-stops jump on board. They cant afford to wait another half an hour for the next 220. And THAT's when the real problem is witnessed. A minute after this packed 220 leaves the bus-stop, another 220, almost empty, arrives following the first one. And to top it all, a minute later, a THIRD 220 comes along, with no one on board except the driver and the conductor. This happens

very often. We can understand if such a thing happens on long-distance routes, where traffic jams may cause buses to bunch up en route. But your lovely 220 is a short route. Why cant you stagger the buses when they leave from Khar and Bandra station? Why do they almost always arrive in bunches of three? Oh, that's your problem, he said. well, the answer is very simple. Its not an accident. Its done deliberately. But why? I asked. Because our chief scheduler is a big cricket fan, he said. Whats that got to do with it? I asked, mystified. Smiling, he replied, haven't you ever heard of a hat-trick? Cyrus M Gonda Pic Courtesy: Nelvin John

Rizvi Springfield School celebrates Annual Day Rizvi Springfield School nurtures the talent of each & every child. In order to accomplish this objective a number of activities are hosted at the school throughout the year. The culmination of all activities is the Annual Day, which was held on 1st March, in the School Auditorium. Keeping in mind the centenary year of Indian cinema, the theme selected was ‘Bollywood’. As stated Ms. Shitala Prabhu, Principal of Rizvi Springfield School, “The Annual Day is always an important event in every child’s life.” Every child performed to the beats of Bollywood tunes. It was a journey from the Black & White era through the Golden age till the Modern Cinema. Tribute was paid to each & every Actor & Actress from 1913 to 2013. The students rocked their feet, beginning with the age old famous number ‘Mai Ban Ke Chidiya’; followed by Raj Kumar’s famous number in line with ‘Eenna Meena Dica’ & ‘Mera Name Chi Chin Chu’, along with the other hit song. It was beautifully depicted how Bollywood merged Marathi, Gujarati, Rajasthani, Punjabi & the South Tollywood song languages, under its arms. The programmes culminated with Salman Khan’s ‘Jai Ho’, spreading the message of peace & love, where students distributed roses to each & every parent. The parents too rocked the floor, seeing their children perform. Each & every child was given an opportunity to perform on songs as per their choice. The students had a great time performing on stage for their parents. As stated earlier by Ms. Shitala Prabhu, “The Annual Day is an im-
