“That was our goal [these past couple of weeks], not to blink, because we’re not going to be pushed around by something we can’t control. We controlled the things we could control in that sense, and that’s the real test. That’s the type of adversity great things are built on. That’s what I’m proud of these guys for, and the way they handled it. They kept getting hit with these gut punches, and they just kept coming to the next day, the next day, the next day. That’s really the success that really matters.” – Head Coach John Harbaugh on how the team has handled the recent weeks

M&T BANK GAME PREVIEW
QUOTH THE RAVEN “I just try to approach everything with the mentality that I’m going to do my job to the best of my abilities. I want to be somebody that this team – the players and coaches – can lean on. I just want to do my job the best that I can to make sure that I’m putting the offense and the team in the best position.” – T Orlando Brown Jr. on being a young leader on the team
The Baltimore Ravens (6-5) host the Dallas Cowboys (3-8) in a special primetime edition of “Tuesday Night Football.” This game, which was originally slated for Thurs., Dec. 3, was moved to Dec. 8 following adjustments to the Ravens’ schedule after the team’s COVID-19 outbreak leading up to its Week 12 game at Pittsburgh. (That game was postponed three times and eventually played on Dec. 2.) The Ravens, who have dropped threestraight games for the first time since 2018, look to rebound from a hard-fought 19-14 defeat at Heinz Field on Wednesday. With 17 players on the COVID-19 list, including nine starters, the Ravens were forced to activate 10 players from the practice squad. Baltimore produced a valiant effort, pulling within 5 points on a QB Trace McSorley-to-WR Marquise Brown 70-yard TD connection with 2:58 remaining. However, the Steelers twice converted on third down on their ensuing possession to seal the win. Filling in for QB Lamar Jackson, QB Robert Griffin III completed 7-of-12 passes for 33 yards and tossed 1 INT, which was returned for a first-quarter TD by CB Joe Haden. Griffin III rushed for a game-high 68 yards but was sidelined in the fourth quarter with a thigh injury, giving way for McSorley to connect on 2-of-6 attempts for 77 yards. On defense, the Ravens tallied 7 PD and 6 QBH, holding Pittsburgh to 6-of-14 on third down and 1-of-4 in goal-to-go situations.
NUMBERS TO RAVE ABOUT 2-0 – Baltimore’s record vs. the NFC East this season, securing victories over Washington in Week 4 and Philadelphia in Week 6. Under John Harbaugh, the Ravens are 8-6 overall against the NFC East, having won three-straight games. 3 – An NFL-high (tied, Pittsburgh & Indianapolis) defensive touchdowns by Baltimore this season. Dating back to 2018, the Ravens’ 12 D-TDs stand as the NFL’s most, with five teams in second with 9. 4 – Different Ravens to register at least 200 rushing yards this season, including QB Lamar Jackson (575), RB Gus Edwards (386), RB J.K. Dobbins (380) and RB Mark Ingram II (232). 157.6 – Rushing yards per game by the Ravens, ranking No. 3 in the NFL entering Week 13. .733 – The Ravens’ winning percentage at home under head coach John Harbaugh since 2008, which ranks as the NFL’s thirdbest mark. Baltimore is 74-27 under “Harbs” at home. The Ravens are 4-1 all time against the Cowboys, including a 3-0 mark in Baltimore. Under John Harbaugh, the Ravens are 2-1 when facing Dallas, last doing so in a 27-17 defeat at AT&T Stadium in 2016. 2020 BALTIMORE RAVENS GAMEDAY | 5

“I think we’re a very resilient, very persistent [and] mentally tough team – and only getting tougher, because of the things that we’re facing. That remains to be seen, whether we’ll get the job done or not. It’s really not what you talk about; it’s what you do. So, we have to go do it, and we have to start with the Cowboys. Our only focus is on Dallas right now. We just need to focus on getting our preparation right for the upcoming game and play our best football game of the season [tonight].”

BALTIMORE'S ORIGINAL SACK DUO BY VERNON DENNIS
The Ravens have been credited with building some great defenses throughout these last 25 seasons. The Pro Football Hall of Fame features two of Baltimore’s finest defenders to ever grace the gridiron in Ray Lewis and Ed Reed. However, there were two other Ravens who helped blaze the trail and establish a culture in the organization that’s been set in stone today. Before there were the Terrell Suggses and Adalius Thomases of the world, 1997 first featured a duo that lifted Baltimore into a formidable force on defense. Following their inception, the Ravens had the fourth-overall selections in both of their first two drafts. After Hall of Fame tackle Jonathan Ogden was taken in 1996, Peter Nicholas Boulware, a hybrid defensive end and linebacker from Florida State, was chosen No. 4 overall in 1997. The Columbia, S.C., native played eight seasons in Baltimore, collecting 502 tackles and 70 sacks. Boulware earned AP Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 1997, en route to two All-Pro and four Pro Bowl selections during his career. Ozzie Newsome once said, "Peter's biggest skill coming out of college was his ability to rush the passer. He never lost that." "I would definitely like people to remember me as a great pass rusher," Boulware stated. "That was my passion – to get after the
quarterback. But, more than anything else, my parents raised me to be a person of character and integrity. How are people going to remember you when you're not wearing the jersey?" The Ravens’ also found a gem when they signed defensive end Michael McCrary in free agency following the 1996 season. The Wake Forest product and original seventh-round draft choice by Seattle was a fixture along the front, recording 457 tackles and 51 sacks during his six years in Baltimore. McCrary’s dominant play earned him Sporting News first-team All-Pro honors (1998), and two Pro Bowl nods (1998-99). Baltimore’s original sack duo helped lead, arguably, the best defense in NFL history to a Super Bowl XXXV Championship in 2000. The perfect combination of talented, tough and
savvy pass rushers, Boulware and McCrary currently rank second and third, respectively, on the franchise’s all-time sacks list, and they are still the only two Ravens to ever record four sacks in a single game. "Off the field, [McCrary] was a loyal family man and a very devoted Christian and one of the nicest guys you could have in the building," added Newsome. "On the football field, it was totally opposite. It seemed like a switch just turned on.” Playing a total of six seasons together, including the Super Bowl XXXV campaign in 2000, and many games on the same record-setting defensive unit, both men were known for their grit, physicality and relentless pursuit to the football. Throughout their careers, each player exemplified character, passion and competitive spirit. There will always be a chemistry amongst the two – whether it be when they joined the Ravens, to the franchise’s Ring of Honor, to the Lombardi Trophy, or by the fact that each man’s career is so statistically similar to the other’s. Either way, Peter Boulware and Michael McCrary paved the way for many great Ravens defenders who’ve come along since. Baltimore’s original sack tandem will forever live on in the hearts and minds of The Ravens Flock. 2020 BALTIMORE RAVENS GAMEDAY | 11
