Women robbed on Linwood, East, Eastern avenues; barbershop robbed ROBBERY

E. Baltimore St., 1100 block, Nov. 9, 12:25 p.m. A suspect wearing a black mask reportedly entered the barbershop, pointed a silver handgun at an employee, and said, “Kick it out.” The victim handed over his property to the suspect, as did another barber and two customers. The suspect left. Pulaski Hwy., 3400 block, Nov. 10, 1:30 p.m. The victim said that he was putting food into his car in the Popeye’s parking lot when a suspect placed a gun to his head and said,

“Kick that s—t out.” The victim handed over the change from his food order; the suspects fled. N. Clinton St., 100 block, Nov. 10, 11:13 p.m. Officers working in plain clothes observed an altercation on the corner, which turned out to be an attempted robbery in progress. Three male suspects were arrested for trying to rob another man. S. Linwood Ave., 400 block, Nov. 11, 8:30 p.m. A woman said that she was walking when four juveniles came up behind her.

Before she could turn around, one of them, a female, hit her in the back of the head and knocked her to the ground. The suspects took her property and fled. S. East Ave., unit block, Nov. 13, 8:19 p.m. A woman told police that she had gone out to eat with two family members. She was walking a few steps ahead when a suspect ran up, stated “nobody move,” and grabbed her purse. The victim was knocked to the ground during the struggle, in which she held on to her purse. Her mother then came up and started hitting the suspect with her own purse. The suspect let go, backed up, and produced what the victims thought was a handgun. The mother then maced the suspect. Eastern Ave., 3500 block Nov. 14, 11:25 a.m. The victim stated that he had just finished helping two people in the store when the suspect approached from behind, grabbed his arm, placed a gun to his back, and demanded he go to the back of the store. The suspect then had the victim sit in a chair, and he taped the victim’s arms to the chair. Another suspect then entered the store with some bags, which the two suspects filled with electronic items and cash before fleeing. E. Lombard St., 1000 block, Nov. 14,

She died at the Gilchrist Hospice Center; she had esophageal cancer and was 83 years old.

She retired from Maryland National Bank when she was 55 years old and spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. As the kids got older she turned her attention to Bingo and while she claims to have always lost, she built many great friendships. Doris seemed to be loved by everyone that came in contact with her. Doris was born to John and Katherine Wozny in Baltimore, MD.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Beverly and William Grady of Corpus Christi, TX; Thomas and Kathryn Smith of Dundalk, MD; and Larry and Deborah Smith of Dundalk, MD.

She had six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister Elizabeth Bounds. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Thomas George Smith and her sister Suzanne Taylor.

She has requested that her remains be donated to the Maryland Board of Anatomy.

N. Madeira St., unit block, Nov. 10, 1:45 p.m. The victim said that someone forced the rear door, gained entry and took property. Mt. Pleasant Ave., 3800 block, Nov. 11, 3:45 p.m. The victim said that someone kicked in the front door, causing damage, but did not gain entry. S. Castle St., unit block, Nov. 12, 12:45 p.m. A man said that he came home and found several electronics had gone missing. There were no signs of forced entry observed.

In Memoriam Doris spent her entire life in the Baltimore area and the last 8 years on Baybriar Road in Dundalk.

6:30 p.m. The victim said that the suspect entered, approached the counter, and asked for a pack of cigarettes. The victim turned around to get the pack; when he turned back around, the suspect was pointing a gun at him. The suspects grabbed the cigarettes and said, “Give me the money.” The victim handed him some money from the register; the suspect grabbed it and fled. Eastern Ave., 1500 block, Nov. 16, 9:40 p.m. The victim said that while she was walking in the block, the suspects approached her from behind, struck her in the back of the head, grabbed her purse off her shoulder, and fled.

Peaceful sleeping, resting at last. The world’s weary troubles and trials are past. In silence she suffered, in patience she bore Till God called her home to suffer no more.
