Foo Foo Fest is always packed with great exhibits and shows, but I feel like this year they’ve outdone themselves! We’ve decided to devote most of our issue to Foo Foo related on goings this month, because just about everything we’re excited about in November now falls under the glorious cultural umbrella that is Foo Foo Fest. I can’t wait to watch artists gather in Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza to paint gigantic cubes as part of the installation, CUBED. Illustrators, painters, drawers and photographers will adorn a side of one of the massive structures with the public watching in live time. We’ve got all the details on CUBED on page 8. Another event I’ve heard so much excitement about is the Umbrella Sky Project and Busker’s Festival. The Umbrella Sky Project will consist of an installation of umbrellas over an entire city street, allowing those walking on the street below a magical and colorful view as they’re shaded by hundreds of floating umbrellas. Once the umbrella installation is complete, a Busker’s Festival will be held on the street below. Head over to page 12 to hear the rest.

In addition to the big events you’ve probably already heard mention of, we also highlighted some of our favorite smaller happenings—like STAMPED’s movie night, flash flower installations sponsored by Fiore, and a special writing workshop with humorist Craig Pittman. Once you’re Foo Foo’ed out, it’ll be time for that wonderful and carb filled holiday we know and love— Thanksgiving! It’s always nice to sit back and relax with family while shamelessly scooping second helpings onto your plate, but if you’re like me, you might get a little restless after the big dinner is over and you’ve reclined on the sofa for an hour or two. We put together a little list of bars you can escape to if the house gets too stuffy or the dinner table debate runs a little too long. It wouldn’t be a November issue without a little preview of the upcoming holiday favorite— Winterfest. Musical trolley tours take participants through a winter wonderland of festivities, from musical renditions of favorite movies, to meetings with Santa and the exciting chance to frolic in the snow. Cheers to you and all the amazing things our city has to offer this month!
