OPTION 1 CONCEPT DESIGN All have heard or dealt with the stock market at some point, it’s all over the news and net worldwide, providing information about which stock went up and others that didn’t. From it, we gained our concept; a symbolic arrow towards the sky indicates the financial strength of the establishment and its importance at both economic and business world. Emirates Islamic Bank represents that through its growth in the economic field and its strength and stability against many obstacles. Never the less, a touch of our Islamic heritage blended through the façade of the iconic tower, declaring a method and a base of the banking system used.

OPTION 1 EMIRATES ISLAMIC BANK HEADQUARTERS FACADE ANALYSIS In the facade, we combined modern with Islamic decorations to gain both future and past, representing the Emirates Islamic Bank routs and future. Islamic decoration makes great use of geometric patterns which have developed over the centuries. Many of these derived from various earlier cultures: Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Central Asian, and Persian. They are usually distinguished from the arabesque, the term for decoration in Islamic art based on curving and branching vegetal forms. But sometimes foliage and linear geometric patterns are combined in a SINGLE design, and some purely abstract linear patterns adopt designs that seem clearly derived from vegetal arabesque ones. The geometric designs have evolved into beautiful and highly complex patterns, still used in many modern day settings.

The square and rectangle play a significant role in Islamic architecture. Some of the reason for this is façades built from rectangular bricks. This ornamental brickwork casts shadows in the strong desert sunlight and creates a three-dimensional effect

Morphology, from the Greek and meaning “study of shape, also means research which is based on theories of two-dimensional and three-dimensional symmetries, and then uses these geometries for planning buildings and structures. The structural efficiency and the architectural appearance of building forms is becoming an increasingly important field of engineering, particularly because of the present wide-spread availability of computer facilities. The realization of complex shapes comes into reach, which would not have been impossible with the traditional means. In this contribution a technique is described, where structural forms are visualized starting from geometry based on that of regular or semiregularpolyhedral, as they form the basis of most of the building structures that are utilized nowadays. The architectural use of these forms and their influence on our man-made environment is of general importance. They can either define the overall shape of the building structure or its internal configuration. In our tower, the morphology appears with a unit that is separated with a zigzag line that moves upwards. The basic unit was chosen in a way to be harmonious and compatible with the existing tower on the same land. This approach provides a sense of unity between the two towers as well as a rhythmic relation that joins them together.

E L E VAT I O N D E S I G N S T U D Y An elevation, also known as a facade, is a view of a building seen from one side, a flat representation of one façade. This is the most common view used to describe the external appearance of a building. Each elevation is labelled in relation to the compass direction it faces. In architecture, the facade of a building is often the most important aspect from a design standpoint, as it sets the tone for the rest of the building. The building envelope remains one of the most important exterior elements for building functionality. While the façade is an elegant component that helps to define the unique architectural aesthetics of the building, it also has the critical role related to energy performance and interior function of a building. In Our own design mythodology for our project’s elevations. Our architect’s choice based on his instincts was to get to the maximum level of efficiency and aesthetics in his elevation design. Based on the project’s mass analysis, the main mass elevation which is mostly plain and is about 180 meters length, might seem heavy on the site and its surroundings. The architect’s choice was to avoid the extensive massivness of his project’s mass and aim for a more light and detailed design for the main elevation. The main concept was to add sun louvers on the translucent background of the main facade. Sun louvers were designed in a random way, on one side they’ll be frequent and after few meters they will fade and the translucent background will appear at the main cylindercal mass of the hotel. The small size of the sun louvers relative of the main elevation was meant to add details and attract the attention of the viewer. On a pedestrian level, the bottom of the elevation was designed with frequent stone frames designed with sun shades. Those elements are meant to attract the pedestrians and aim to make them feel more welcomed towards the building. The last step was to emphasize the two entrances of both, the hotel and the Shopping center. Each entrances was designed with a canopy to be a marking approach element for the users and the viewers of the building.
