AFTA hosts numerous events and activities across the UK through its BAFTA Kids strand (see previous page), with our dedicated BAFTA Kids website providing a key focal point. The site offers unrivalled content, fun information and unique experiences to engage children and young people. Over the past 12 months, the site has run competitions with such high-profile media partners as Disney and Cartoon Network, and showcased some incredible children’s media talent through our BAFTA Kids & Teens YouTube channel. We have seen a significant growth in views for our content over the past year, with support from the industry allowing us to go behind the scenes on some of the most exciting children’s media productions and projects. We also had an incredible competition recently, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a young talent to be the face of a backstage report at this year’s Children’s Awards. We received more than 100 entries from children from all across the UK, all of an incredibly high standard. The finished report will be published on our YouTube channel soon.

The website is also the home of the BAFTA Kids’ Vote, which lets 7 to 14-year-olds select their choice of the best films, television and games of the past year. With tens of thousands of votes cast, the BAFTA Kids’ Vote is one of the most enlightening of categories at the Children’s Awards; they are the only awards voted for by the public, and we know how insightful and candid children can be. The polls opened on 18 October, with a shortlist in each category to choose from (detailed above), and closed a month later. Congratulations to all the nominees and good luck! ¥
