WELCOME Welcome to the British Academy Television Craft Awards. Tonight’s BAFTA ceremony is a celebration of outstanding talent who work behind the scenes in the pursuit of excellence on screen. Each of our nominees has been critical to the success of some of 2015’s most memorable programmes, and we are delighted to recognise their contributions tonight.
Over the past year, BAFTA has been working hard to continue supporting the next generation of talent. We want to ensure a diverse range of voices are nurtured, and that opportunities are forthcoming regardless of people’s backgrounds, through scholarships, networking, masterclass programmes and much more. Activity continues next weekend at our Guru Live festival, where attendees will hear from experts across a range of crafts in television, film and games. One role in television craft which deserves special recognition is that of the casting director, whose involvement at the heart of a production can define its subsequent success. Nina Gold is one of the country’s leading practitioners in the field, with an enviable career spanning film and television and a long list of award-winning productions to her name. Nina’s hard work, skill, collaboration and sheer determination are an inspiration to anyone working, or seeking to work, in the industry today. Tonight, we recognise her with the Special Award.
