QUEENSLAND'S FIRST ZERO WASTE RESORT
TACKLING THE WAR ON WASTE IS ONE OF THE MANY WAYS THAT BADDERAM WILL REDUCE CARBON EMISSIONS
At Badderam all materials are seen as a resource and consumption remains a choice. Humans are rarely motivated by guilt and almost always motivated by pleasure. Through subtle education, indulgence and reward, guests and staff will be inspired to participate in Badderam's zero waste approach.
Our resource management plan of zero waste will be achieved by implementing the following initiatives:
• Education programs that inspire resort guests, staff, suppliers and the local community to collaborate in Badderam's zero waste strategy, making this adventure pleasurable and fun – for everyone
• All recyclable material collected through a co-mingled recycling system
• Careful purchasing decisions to minimise resource extraction – if materials cannot be reused, recycled or composted they will not be allowed into the resort
• All organic waste composted using an onsite high-tech, automatic, aerobic, odourless and silent composting unit, known as an OSCA. The OSCA is made locally on the Sunshine Coast and exported around the world. This extraordinary industrial composter is capable of processing around 2 tonnes of waste material per week. The unit processes waste streams including food waste, agricultural waste, compostable packaging, paper and cardboard, manure and green waste – ideal for the resort's extensive gardens
