The Artist

These paintings are ones I have worked back and forth on my 70th year. I have never been a linear painter who works on a painting start to finish. As I worked sometimes a solution or inspiration revealed itself on another painting in the group. As they rotate on and off my easel or pastel table, sometimes one will come to a good, if torturous conclusion. The focus of my art has always been the landscape, especially the hill country and South Texas. I’ve always loved it. But I’ve moved past the tyranny of depiction of realism in most of these paintings and pastels. I tried to use pure color to explore the relationships between form, shape and line. I use my emotions as I paint, and hope that reveals itself to the viewer. Terry Allen Jones
