Born in Parma in 1987, from the young age he had become passionate about photography thanks to an old Soviet reflex camera found in his grandmother’s cellar. Self-taught, he is especially into filmstrips, even though he does not disdain DSLRs. After gaining some experience in NY and Paris, he currently lives in Milan and works for magazines such as Espresso and Conde Nast as well as for several Italian and foreign fashion brands.
Born in Krasnodon, Ukraine, she studied at the Lugansk Cultural and Art Academy. She has conquered the fashion world since her young age thanks to her extraordinary beauty and professionalism. Testimonial of important brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Massimo Mantovani and Lavazza, Nastya currently lives in Kiev and is represented in Italy by agency Fashion Model Management in Milan.

LE STREGHE – FALL 2017 COLLECTION
The new collection by Le Streghe brand speaks a contemporary, bold language, which is aimed at characterizing a secure and determined woman who walks with confidence amid a crowded metropolis. Inspiration comes from the charm of all those contemporary heroines who, in their chaotic life, can find a pinch of fun in fashion. As a matter of fact, the collection is targeted to the dynamic woman who loves her career, and the sports, as well as shopping and seduction. One of the brand main features is its capability of combining a sports style (made in fabric s that are garment-dyed by using special washings) with silk and viscose decorated according to refined fantasy patterns: a casual and elegant mix making each collection unique. The Fall/Winter 2017-18 collection is based on street style, and it develops through a combination of masculine and ultra feminine lines, creating a play of different fantasy matches. The true main elements within this collection are the coats and jackets in eco fur, either in an emerald green version or with leopard prints. The collection plays on contrasts and strong chromatic matches in a combination of fantasies and nuances.
FAST FASHION ON VENICE FILM FESTIVAL RED CARPET
The true main character at the 74th edition of the Venice Film Festival is Fast Fashion. In addition to the ever-present creations of ‘haute couture’ and ‘prêt-à-porter’ fashion by Giorgio Armani, Versace, Alberta Ferretti, and Gucci, dresses and accessories designed by mass-maket brands are also parading on this year’s red carpet by proposing refined collections for these brands’ new top positioning. This trend has commenced with top model Bianca Balti, who has shown off a frock by Ovs limited edition, which is exclusively on sale through the brand’s E-commerce platform starting from September 20.

The brand created by Italian textile entrepreneur Gennaro Dargenio is now launching its new FW 2017 collection. The true main characters are common people rather than the models. A vintage store owner, a dentist in his new office, a young graphic designer absorbed by his work, and a university teacher with his art collecting wife are all the main characters in the new collection by Circolo 1901, marking a new way of living fashion. Graduated at the University of Bologna - with a specialization in Contract Law for Show Business and Music. He has been part of Marianna Morandi’s agency based in Bologna (Italy), where he has created projects for the interaction of music with brands. After a short leave from work, he has later decided to become part of the fashion industry. He has started in Paris, working as a dishwasher, and then he has returned to Bologna

He has entered LuisaViaRoma company for the first time thanks to a curricular traineeship included in his higher education studies, and later he has remained in the company with the role of Special Project Manager and Celebrities PR Manager. We have met him in his flat in Florence, where he has told us about his career. An true example of “you are what you do”. When has your collaboration with LuisaViaRoma store begun? My collaboration with LuisaViaRoma has started in 2014. At the beginnings, my activity has mainly focused on the start up of the Sound of Style (SoS) segment: the original idea has been that of strengthening the link between fashion and music. We wanted to realise contents (photos, videos, interviews) with musical artists who talked about their style and with designers who, on the contrary, made reference

All’inizio la mia attività si è focalizzata sull’avvio della sezione Sound of Style (SoS): l’idea alla base era quella di rafforzare ancora di più il legame tra moda e musica realizzando dei contenuti (foto, video, interviste) con Artisti musicali che parlavano del loro stile e con i Designer che, al contrario, si riferivano alla colonna sonora che spesso è la stessa che li accompagna durante il processo creativo di elaborazione della collezione. Da quando è stata

I have always had the fortune of choosing to do what I liked and LuisaViaRoma has offered me the opportunity of closing the circle by combining Music, Fashion and social events. The pros and cons of an activity like this is that it does not seem you are working, even if you have a working schedule and other requirements to meet. However, at the end of each project, satisfaction offsets the commitment and the sleepless nights (and you got many of them) spent in so far. Luisa Via Roma, is it a store or a new media? LuisaViaRoma is a media in all respects. We can boast about 5 million accesses per month to our Web Portal. The audience of our social networks is stratospheric, with about 5 million followers. Our strength resides in the union of two different realities: on the one hand, the long-consolidated business where the brands

Ho sempre avuto il lusso e la fortuna di poter scegliere di fare ciò che mi piace e LuisaViaRoma mi ha dato la possibilità di chiudere il cerchio unendo la Musica, la Moda e gli eventi. Il bello e il brutto di un’attività come questa è che, da un lato non sembra di lavorare, ma dall’altro non ci sono orari o limiti. La soddisfazione però, alla fine di ogni progetto, ricambia dell’impegno e delle notti insonni (e ce ne sono parecchie). Luisa Via Roma, è una boutique o un nuovo media? LuisaViaRoma è un media a tutti gli effetti. Abbiamo circa 5 milioni di accessi al mese nel nostro portale. L’audience dei nostri social è stratosferica, circa 5 milioni di followers. La forza risiede proprio nell’unione di due mondi diversi: la parte storica dove la selezione dei brand consolida l’heritage dell’azienda e l’altra parte che guarda verso il futuro e l’evoluzione del mondo digitale. We often receive requests from fashion brands - even the most prestigious ones which want a new reinterpretation according to the contemporary vision of LuisaViaRoma in line with their brand identity. What about the next season’s initiatives? The most important initiatives will include events and a new course we are going to give to our collaborations, with the creation of the LVR Editions line: they are special releases which are exclusive to LuisaViaRoma, and which are launched on a 2-week basis.

You have been the first company in presenting Kenzo’s collection in Europe in 1968. Is this desire of searching for innovative designers still intact today? The search for innovation and what is cool is part of LuisaViaRoma’s DNA. Our accurate selection is undoubtedly one of our distinctive features, and one of the factors which have made our company a reference in the fashion system at an international level. In your showrooms there are so many brands! Among the top emerging and more commercial brands, it is possible to find out a very interesting brand mix. How do you select your partner brands? Which are the brand features you mostly appreciate and evaluate? Initially, the selection of the brands and looks is carried out by our buying team, but, behind

La scelta dei brand e dei look avviene in un primo momento ad opera del buying team ma dietro la decisione finale c’è sempre la decisione del nostro CEO Andrea Panconesi e di Annagreta Panconesi (sua figlia e 4° generazione della famiglia ad essere alla guida dell’A zienda) che dall’inizio di quest’anno coordina la parte relativa all’immagine aziendale permettendo all’azienda di avvicinarsi al mondo dei Millenials di cui lei fa parte a pieno titolo.

In 1999, Luisa Via Roma has launched an E-commerce platform, positioning as a true pioneer in the online market. How has the sales system changed from the Sixties to present day in the digital era? The most evident innovation comes from the “See now, buy now” approach, which has literally reset the previous fashion system. In the past, the fashion market was articulated according to the 6 typical months with the presentation of the main collection and the subsequent waiting period, until the clothing articles seen on the catwalk became available in the shop. Today, on the basis of the new Internet logic and of a “Live the moment” approach, the products seen on the catwalk become available from the day after (LuisaViaRoma had already adopted this strategy in less suspicious times, thanks to its innovative Pre-Order option). But the speed characterizing this way of doing business is also having a negative effect: that is to say, the risk of flattening, in some cases, the creativity, the impact of the collection on the audience, that sense of excitement which let the fashion

operators ask themselves what are the novelties, or the new course for the brand, on the very day before every fashion show. Let’s say that all this has gone a little lost. What is the secret for LuisaViaRoma success? Our CEO, Andrea Panconesi! He is LuisaViaRoma. He belongs to the third generation; his grandmother had founded the store in Florence during the 1930s. He has introduced Kenzo in Europe for the first time, marking a new strategy of scouting for LuisaViaRoma. His capacity of identifying new trends is at the basis of this company’s success. What is your target customer type, gender and nationality? Our target customer is absolutely crosswise, both in terms of gender and of nationality. We have a light difference in the genre distribution of our buyers: 55% are women, while 45% are men. Our typical customer is a fashionist who knows what he/she wants to buy, and who knowns that he/she can find his/her desired article at our store. Our top market is represented by the United States, followed by Asia and, Europe. How would you see LuisaViaRoma in 2030? In 2030, I think that LuisaViaRoma will be already oriented towards 2050.

Has your professional training as an architect somehow influenced over your design aesthetics? Creativity, artistic inspiration - which I prefer to call as the designer’s vision - exists regardless of one’s education. In my career, architecture was the second best solution for me: in 1989, when I was 17 years old, I decided to live by myself; there were no publicised training courses in Italy for designers and, as I was born and living in the city outskirts, I did not realise that I could study in London, for example; that’s why I finally chose to study architecture.

La tua formazione professionale di architetto ha in qualche modo influenzato l’estetica dei suoi disegni? La creatività, l’ispirazione, quella che io preferisco chiamare visione, esiste a prescindere dall’educazione scolastica. Architettura per me è stato un ripiego: nel 1989, quando a 17 anni ho deciso di andare a vivere da sola, non c’erano corsi in Italia per stilisti così pubblicizzati e io, che sono nata e cresciuta in provincia, non ho pensato che sarei potuta andare a studiare a Londra, per esempio, quindi ho scelto architettura.
Come inizi a fare parte del mondo della moda? Un personaggio molto conosciuto nella moda, diciamo un opinion leader, ha notato il mio stile e mi ha stimolato a creare una mia collezione (Jo No Fui), poi mio marito, Alessandro Squarzi, mi ha convinto definitivamente, lui lavorava già nella moda. Dopo una lunga esperienza come fondatrice e art director dei brand Jo No Fui e Mr & Mrs Furs decidi di creare una nuova azienda, quando è nato il desiderio di iniziare un nuovo capitolo?

at Jonofui and Mr & Mrs Furs brands, you have decided to create your own company; when was your wish of starting up a new enterprise born? I have designed, produced and distributed my brands for 12 years, then, in 2013, I have decided to give up everything. This is my way of living. Every 10 years, I need to radically change my life, changing my work, the city where I live, and the interpersonal relations. This makes me feel alive. After the brands disposal in 2013, I definitively moved to Milan with my daughter. I had been working there for 12 years, and, after that, an important commercial director

Sono fatta così, ogni 10 anni ho bisogno di radere al suolo la mia vita e ricominciare tutto da capo, cambiare lavoro, città, frequentazioni, mi fa sentire viva. Dopo la vendita nel 2013 mi sono trasferita definitivamente a Milano con mia figlia, ci lavoravo già da 12 anni, sono stata 8 mesi a riposo, poi un importante direttore commerciale mi ha offerto un contratto di consulenza per un brand molto famoso, quotato in borsa, e da lì è ricominciato tutto. Oggi ho un ufficio di consulenze creative, con 5 persone, ma non solo, io

As a matter of fact, a group of entrepreneurs has persuaded me to take this further step, especially my business associate and friend, Jacopo Tonelli. He is an imaginative fashion businessman like me, and he is the owner of Jato spa company, which is a leading company in Italy in the production of luxury articles, and partner for prestigious international brands such as Attico (a brand of Gilda Ambrosio, the famous blogger) and Amen. My new collection has been recently launched into the market, and my style-loyal buyers have soon followed me. Showroom 247 - based in Milan and Paris - is responsible for the distribution of my works, and it is very selective by applying a distribution policy which focuses on a few exclusive sales points in the world. You are starting up with a new FW 2017-2018 collection: can you tell us where you got inspiration from? I am not inspired by anything; everything is a quotation of something else. I own a huge vintage archive, including clothing articles I have been collecting since I was 15 years old; I can still remember when my friends in Rimini (Italy) believed I was crazy because I was used to buy secondhand clothes and to wear them. Today all that is fashion. At every season, I travel to Los Angeles and Tokyo, and I visit flea markets and trade fairs; I explore special archives and stores dedicated to the purchasing of new clothes, which I like to modify and process according to my own style, my sensitivity... I don’t know how to explain all that. It is a sort of mental trip. I first imagine the entire collection in my mind before drawing it, like in a sort of movie. I can see it all: perfect shots before me, in silhouette, with full details and colours.

La mia collezione ha appena debuttato, ma subito i buyer affezionati al mio stile mi hanno seguito. Lo showroom 247 di Milano e Parigi, che si occupa della distribuzione è molto selettivo e sta attuando una strategia distributiva che verte a fare pochissimi punti vendita molto selezionati ed esclusivi nel mondo. Esordici con la collezione FW 2017-2018, ce la racconti e ci dici da dove nasce la tua ispirazione? Non mi ispiro a nulla, tutto è citazione, ho un archivio vintage immenso, capi che colleziono da quando avevo 15 anni, ricordo che le mie amiche di Rimini mi credevano pazza perché compravo abiti usati e li indossavo, oggi è una moda. Ogni stagione faccio viaggi a Los Angeles e Tokyo nei mercatini e negli archivi dedicati all’acquisto di nuovi capi, che poi rielaboro attraverso il mio stile, la mia sensibilità... non so spiegare, è una specie di viaggio mentale, io visualizzo tutta la collezione nella mia testa ancor prima di disegnarla, come una specie di film, vedo

What is the ‘true must’ of your new collection? The must clothing article for the Fall-Winter 2017/18 collection is certainly represented by the embroidered kimono - a fundamental article in my wardrobe. In the collection, it is realised in black, in the 1920s fashion, an embroidery work on the back, and it includes contrasting lining that is visible when you are in motion only. Another important element is the customised Ballantyne sweater: I have completed a co-branding work with this famous man’s cashmere brand to create a series of burnt, cut, and overdyed over sweaters. The collection offers a Dark allure: are these feelings part of your being, or do they represent one of your creative phases? My collection is absolutely Dark as my soul; I am generally used to wear black clothing, except when I go on holidays in Saint Tropez, at my home, where I enjoy myself in experimenting a more hippy style. The current collection is the fruits of my own creativity, which derives from my black soul directly. My creativity needs alternating emotions and, among them, there is always a sense of sorrow as well. It is not a negative sense of sorrow: it is simply an introspective insight into a part that we all have, but that only a few people love to explore.

Il capo must della collezione autunno inverno 17/18 è sicuramente il kimono ricamato, un capo fondamentale del mio guardaroba, in collezione è nero con un disegno anni 20 ricamato nella schiena e fodere a contrasto che si intravvedono quando ti muovi. E poi il Ballantyne customizzato, ho fatto una co-branding con il famoso brand di cashmere da uomo, e ho creato maglioni over, tagliati bruciati, bucati, sovratinti. La collezione ha un’allure dark, queste emozioni fanno parte del tuo essere o è solo fase estetica? La collezione è molto Dark come la mia anima, mi vesto prevalentemente di nero salvo quando vado in vacanza a Saint Tropez a casa mia, dove mi diverto a sperimentare lo stile hippy. La mia collezione attuale è il frutto della creatività che attinge proprio a quella parte nera dentro di me. La mia creatività ha bisogno di un’altalena di emozioni e tra queste c’è anche il dolore, ma non è un dolore negativo è semplicemente un viaggio dentro una parte di noi che tutti abbiamo, ma che molte persone non amano esplorare.

CAPRICE AND REASON. THE ELEGANCE IN EIGHTEENTH CENTURY’S EUROPE GABRIELLA SABA The allure of this extraordinarily innovative period is revived within the halls of the Museo del Tessuto (the Textile Production Museum) in Prato (Italy), thanks to a temporary exhibition from 14th of May 2017 to 29th April 2018. The exhibition is sponsored by the Museum Foundation in collaboration with the Costume and Fashion Museum of Uffizi Gallery (Florence), and in cooperation with the Stibbert Museum based in Florence, as well as the “Museo Studio del Tessuto”, property of the “Antonio Ratti” Foundation in Como. Set up within the Museum halls dedicated to antique textiles, the exhibition recalls the splendours of the European Royal Courts during the Eighteenth century. Among the hall cross vaults, sections of Tiepolo’s frescoes are designed to recreate the charm of the period’s painted ceilings. In addition, large mirrored surfaces contribute to create a particular game of effects that expands the exhibition space by exalting the exhibited items. This exhibition’s excursus is based on the study of the Eighteenth century’s development of style and artistic culture, and it is divided into three essential sections. The first section of the Eighteenth century tells the textile

L’allure di un periodo straordinariamente innovativo rinasce nelle sale del Museo del Tessuto di Prato grazie alla a mostra inaugurata il 14 maggio 2017 e attiva fino al 29 aprile 2018 organizzata dalla fondazione del Museo del Tessuto di Prato in collaborazione con con il Museo della moda e del Costume delle Galleria degli Uffizi, con il Museo Stibbert di Firenze e con il Museo Studio del Tessuto della fondazione Antonio Ratti di Como. Allestita nella sala dei tessili antichi del museo, la mostra richiama i fasti delle corte europee del XVIII secolo. Tra le volte a crociera sono progettate tratti degli affreschi del Tiepolo che ricreano quel fascino tipico dei soffitti dipinti dell’epoca. Ma non solo, grandi superfici specchiate creano un particolare gioco di effetti che ampliano l’ambiente espositivo esaltando gli oggetti dell’esibizione. L’excursus della mostra, basato sullo studio dello sviluppo dello stile e della cultura artistica del XVIII è diviso nei tre momenti essenziali del secolo. La prima parte del Settecento racconta, tessuti dal gusto prevalentemente francese. Il Rococò ereditato dal secolo scorso accosta soggetti della natura ad elementi esotici dando vita allo stile eccentrico Bizarre, il naturalistico Revel ed il lezioso Dentelles. Preziosi e suggestivi i tessuti provenienti dalla Fondazione Antonio Ratti operati in seta e filati metallici d’oro ed argento. Alla riscoperta del gusto classico è dedicata la parte centrale della mostra. La corrente neoclassica è nata come reazione alla fastosità del Barocco e del Roccocò

production in a predominantly French taste. Inherited from the previous century, Rococo combines natural subjects with exotic elements, giving birth to the eccentric Bizarre, the naturalistic Revel, and the coy Dentelles styles. The fabrics and textiles coming from the “Antonio Ratti” Foundation, made in silk and metallic gold/silver threads, are particularly precious and suggestive. The exhibition’s central section is dedicated to the rediscovery of Classical style. Neoclassicism was indeed born from a reaction to the Baroque’s and Rococo’s eccentric sumptuousness, and thanks to the period’s archaeological excavations in Pompeii and Herculaneum. Through a dialogue between Piranesi’s drawings and the cameo buttons produced by the British ceramic brand, Wedgwood, as well as the marvellous embroidery works on the men’s waistcoat from the late 1770s (coming from the Stibbert Museum), the “ancient Ruins” theme is developed to offer strong emotional suggestions. The final section of the exhibition covers the latest years of Eighteenth century, characterized by lighter decorations. New colours emerge here among different textiles: white, pale pink, green water, azure, clear yellow in veiled tones. Fashion from this period is characterized by a change in the taste, getting closer and closer to the Neoclassical aesthetics. The exhibition includes over 100 items among textiles, women clothing, shoes, porcelain, all telling the aesthetic development of the Eighteenth century, which was fundamental for the birth of the Modern Age. As a whole, the exhibition is focused on two antithetical concepts: the Caprice and the Reason. Both concepts cross and go through the entire century to define one of the most important design moments in the history of costume and fashion.

Attraverso un dialogo tra i disegni di Piranesi e i bottoni cameo prodotti dalla manifattura inglese Wedgwood e gli splendidi ricami del gilet maschile fine anni settanta del Settecento, dell’archivio del Museo Stibber, si articola il tema “Rovine”, carico di suggestioni emotive. L’ultima parte della mostra arriva alla fine del secolo con un alleggerimento delle decorazioni. Nuovi colori si fanno strada tra i tessuti: bianco, rosa pallido, verde acqua, celeste, giallo chiaro in toni velati. Anche la moda del tempo è caratterizzata da questo cambiamento di gusto più vicino all’estetica neoclassica. Oltre 100 reperti tra tessuti, capi d’abbigliamento femminile, scarpe e porcellane che raccontano la storia estetica di un secolo fondamentale per la nascita dell’età moderna. Tutto focalizzato in due concetti contrapposti, il capriccio e la ragione che viaggiano durante questo secolo per definire uno dei momenti estetici più importanti della storia del costume e della moda.

MEN AND FASHION TODAY. THE AWAKENING OF A REVOLUTION NICOLA BRAJATO
The boundaries of what is possible in male fashion are, as a good cliché, limited and limiting. The pinstripe, as a metaphorical cage, and the suit as a uniform, represent what we can define a grade zero of menswear, which with traditionalist attitude, become the guardian of a classic, static and untouchable masculinity. But in the last seasons, male fashion shows tried to tell us something. Sometimes they do not declare it directly, but they tell it symbolically through jackets, buttons and trousers. Male fashion is awakening. It is dilating the limits of possible, permitting a reflection on the contemporary man. What is important to know is that it is only the awakening of a revolution. Male fashion during its history had some moments of extravagance and other of boring conformism. Let’s think to Louis XIV’s court, the Sun King, who embodied the absolute virility of the time between wigs, face powders and crochets. An aesthetic manifestation of masculinity that was put aside in the XIXth century with what psychologist John Carl Flügel defines as the Great Male Renunciation: no more excesses and ostentations, but sober colors and functional clothes in order to represent the modern democratic values. But the Renunciation agrees to a compromise with the birth of the ready-to-wear and the consequent multiplication of styles. A phenomena that during the 80s saw the fashion industry focused on the male body with the so called New Man. Starting from the second part of the XXth century, men begin to reconsider their relationship with fashion, a journey that led to a wide diffusion of events and brands exclusively dedicated to menswear. Today male fashion shows are ironic about the cultural definition of masculinity, offering aesthetic solutions that are far from the imposition of a single and unique way of being ‘man’. While the idea of classicality silently remains in the background, adjectives such as destructured, subversive and genderless, become increasingly important and present in the last collections. An outstanding deconstructive approach emerges from the Georgian Demna Gvasalia, creative director of Vetements and Balenciaga. He mockingly redefines the concept of silhouette, matching ephebic bodies with over-sized structures and lines, creating a sarcastic revisiting of shapes. The consideration on masculinity is

They both consider the contemporary man in a queer way, laying the foundations for a real aesthetic denunciation. So do not panic if we see boys modeling wearing a suit and a pair of platform shoes or in high heels. The rethinking of gender continues with the genderless trend, which considers between its main protagonists

the Korean Juun J, JW Anderson and Alessandro Michele for Gucci. A decisive cut with the past which marks the beginning of an ‘almost’ new male fashion. If we consider fashion as a ‘textile mirror’ which reflects the historical socio-cultural changes, we must affirm that something is happening to the contemporary representation of masculinity. Afters decades of suits and ties, men are (perhaps) finally accepting a plural evolution of their identity, claiming the possibility to freely appear, outside the cultural box.

merletti incarnava la virilità assoluta dell’epoca, una manifestazione del maschile messa poi da parte nel XIX secolo da quella che lo psicologo John Carl Flügel definisce come Grande Rinuncia Borghese: basta eccessi, basta ostentazione, ma soltanto tinte sobrie e abiti funzionali per onorare i nuovi valori democratici. Ma la Rinuncia scende poi a compromessi con la nascita del prêt-à-porter e la moltiplicazione degli stili. Fenomeno che negli anni ’80 vede la moda concentrata sul corpo maschile con quello che viene definito il New Man. A partire dunque della seconda metà del Novecento, l’uomo ha iniziato a riconsiderare il proprio rapporto con la moda, un percorso che ha portato ad un’estrema diffusione di eventi e brand concentrati esclusivamente sul menswear. Oggi le passerelle maschili ironizzano sulla definizione culturale di mascolinità, proponendo soluzioni estetiche che si allontanano in modo netto dall’imposizione di un solo e unico modo di “sembrare” uomini. Mentre la classicità rimane silenziosa al suo posto, destrutturato, sovversivo e ‘genderless’, iniziano a diventare aggettivi sempre più importanti e presenti nelle ultime collezioni. Un notevole approccio decostruttivo arriva dal georgiano Demna Gvasalia, direttore creativo di Vetements e Balenciaga. Con fare beffardo il designer ridefinisce il concetto di silhouette, accostando efebici corpi maschili con linee e strutture over, creando una sarcastica rivisitazione delle forme. La riflessione sul maschile viene spinta oltre dall’emergente Charles Jeffrey e dall’americano Thom Browne. Entrambi approcciano l’uomo contemporaneo in modo queer, mettendo le basi per una vera e propria denuncia estetica. Non meravigliamoci dunque se vediamo sfilare modelli in completo con platform shoes o addirittura tacco 12. Il ripensamento del ‘genere’ viene poi portato avanti dal quella corrente definita genderless, che vede come esponenti il coreano Juun J, JW Anderson e Alessandro Michele per Gucci. Un taglio decisivo con il passato che segna l’inizio di una quasi’ nuova moda maschile. Se consideriamo la moda uno ‘specchio’ tessile che riflette i cambiamenti socioculturali nella storia, non possiamo che affermare che qualcosa sta succedendo alla contemporanea rappresentazione del maschile. Dopo anni di completi e cravatte, l’uomo sta (forse) finalmente accettando un’evoluzione plurale della propria identità, rivendicando la possibilità di apparire liberamente al di fuori degli schemi culturali.

Among the 30 participating brands, Babylon - a company based in Bologna (Italy) - has distinguished itself for a collection based on three different lines, being created and designed by its three stylists. Founded in 1984, the brand operates in the made-in-Italy fast fashion market segment, and it has succeeded in consolidating its business in the course of the years, becoming a leading company in the production of extremely feminine and sleek collections. Monica Rossi - born in Bologna and designer for the Babylon line - has always had a deep love for fashion since her childhood, thanks to the influence by her grandmother, who was a professional tailor. She made her first steps in the fashion industry in the city of London, where she found her stylistic identity. The continuous search for innovative forms and not so obvious details have always characterised her style. The objective is that of “making women understand that elegance and refinement stand in simplicity”, Monica Rossi Born in 1965 in the city of Hamburg (Germany), Keddy Frahm entered in contact with fashion thanks to her father, a fashion sales representative. In 1996, after moving to Italy, together with her business partner Luca Morreale, she founded the fast fashion line denominated Eureka. Anna Paula Macedo Rocha, born in Brazil, liked to play with dolls when she was a child, creating their dresses personally. In 1992, she moved to Italy trying to pursue her dream of working in the fashion industry. And this dream came true thanks to Babylon, which in 2010 allowed them to design - together with Sara Morreale - the line denominated “W Les Femmes”, representing her expression of femininity. “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”, these are the words by Confucius used by designer Anna Paula Macedo Rocha to better express herself.

Evita’s help, Argentinian women obtained the right to vote, without mentioning all her charity initiatives and foundations in support of the poorest and orphan children. But, when the government of Juan Domingo Peròn fell, all what she had realised was destroyed at the hands of the dictatorial government of Edelmiro Julián Farrell. One would think that the Argentinian first lady was of noble origins. But actually she came from a humble family. Since her childhood, her life was marked by suffering as she became the victim of rumours in her home town, being considered as an illegitimate daughter. For this reason, she started to work with her mother very soon in order to live on. Driven by the desire of becoming a cinema actress, after her failure in finding a wealthy partner, she decided to move to Buenos Aires when she was only 15 years old. Once in the Argentinian capital city, she found herself alone in coping with the entertainment and cinema industry challenges: low value actresses, careerist showgirls

Eco fur stoles in pastel colours are decorated with jewellery applications or showy flakes; shoes with a very high platform are realised in velvet, suede and satin. The collection plays on contrasts and strong chromatic matches in a combination of fantasies and nuances. The main colours are delicate oat white, vanilla, antique pink and jade, matched with a mysterious and sensual black, with some touch of smoky blue. During the catwalk, Franchi has also introduced three clothing articles from “La mia bambina” line, a small-size version of the dresses worn by top models.
Lo sguardo è celato da cappelli eleganti; guanti e gioielli dal sapore retrò rappresentano il leitmotiv della stagione. We have recently met Alessia Auriemma, creative director at Alef brand, which has been proposing marvellous made-in-Tuscany collections for 3 years. Iconic bags with classical forms are reinterpreted in a more contemporary fashion. Through a brief interview, we have found out some secrets of this company, an undisputed leader of Italian artisan’s manufacturing.

These two entities have met and have unanimously decided to realise a business project by creating a new line of women’s accessories which is fresh, smart and capable of combining the pleasure for fashion with the practicality of everyday life. The models are created in a team work which starts from the definition of the collection concept, it passes through model designing, the materials and finishings selection, and, finally, the true realization. Considered as one of most skilled men in this industry, Tiziano Colasante is capable of combining creativity with high manual skills, and he is able to create complex-structure accessories. Having an in-depth knowledge of leather materials and details, he personally manages the prototypes building up and, in many cases, he creates the samples in his own, while dealing with the feasibility study and the bag building up and development. Many models by ALEF derive from style research and the studying of fashion trends, including the team’s sensitivity in creating new models and in selecting new material matches and colours. The company can boast an entirely made-in-Italy production, being able to mix the traditional Tuscan leather craftsmanship with the industrialization of some processing phases through the usage of cutting edge machinery.

Abbiamo anche un e-commerce e stiamo iniziando collaborazioni con altri portali online per potenziare la vendita retail.

We can certainly affirm that the made-in-Italy production is your added value. Can you briefly describe your company’s production cycle? Of course, the made-in-Italy feature is one of our strengths. Each single phase of production and creation is carried out internally. The materials are selected from Italian suppliers who can guarantee high quality standards. Leather materials are all certified as to have a minimum impact on people’s health and on the environment during the production phase, the recycling and disposal phases and in the usage of raw materials obtained/ produced in a sustainable manner. The projecting phase gives birth to the first prototypes which are tested and controlled by our two designers, while the sampling procedure is started up after it. Most of the processing phases are carried out manually, providing a touch of craftsmanship to each single ALEF product. Only a few phases of product preparation are carried out with the usage of cutting edge machinery in order to speed up the realization times. Our products are a mix of creativity and artisan’s tradition, and they fully meet the concept of premium made-in-Italy manufacturing. At which trade fairs or fashion events are you going to participate into the next future? Our agenda includes some select trade fairs and fashion events such as Tranoï - The International Fashion Trade Shows in Paris, the White Show in Milan and the Montecarlo Fashion Week.

Possiamo affermare che il made in Italy è un vostro valore aggiunto, potreste descriverci brevemente come avviene il ciclo produttivo? Certamente, il made in Italy è uno dei nostri punti di forza. Ogni singola fase di produzione e creazione avviene internamente all’azienda. I materiali che usiamo sono selezionati da fornitori italiani che ci garantiscono la qualità del prodotto. I pellami sono tutti certificati per il minimo impatto sulla salute e sull’ambiente durante la fase di produzione così come in quella di riciclaggio e smaltimento e per l’utilizzo di materie prime prodotte in modo sostenibile. La fase di ideazione dà origine ai primi prototipi che vengono testati e controllati dai due designer e successivamente viene avviata la campionatura. La maggior parte delle fasi di lavorazione avviene manualmente e questo dona un tocco di artigianalità a ogni singolo prodotto ALEF. Solo alcune fasi di preparazione del prodotto vengono svolte con l’ausilio di macchinari all’avanguardia per velocizzare i tempi di realizzazione. The “Quadrilatero della Moda” or “Via Montenapoleone fashion district” is a high-class shopping district in the city centre of Milan, characterised by the presence of numerous boutiques and retail outlets representing most of the world’s major fashion houses.
CTM was born in 1984 thanks the initiative of about thirty textile operators which have been working in the “heart” of Milan for many years. Today “Centro Tessile Milano” gathers over 190 associates offering a wide range of textile products, from clothes to underwear, from leather fashion to linen, from costume-jewelery to fabrics, from footwear to haberdashery.

Florence is regarded by some as the birthplace and earliest centre of the modern (post World War Two) fashion industry in Italy. The Florentine “soirées” of the early 1950s organized by Giovanni Battista Giorgini were events where several now-famous Italian designers participated in group shows and first garnered international attention. Florence has served as the home of the Italian fashion company Salvatore Ferragamo since 1928. Gianfranco Lotti, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Ermanno Scervino, Stefano Ricci, Patrizia Pepe, Enrico Coveri and Emilio Pucci were also founded and most of them are still headquartered in Florence. Other major players in the fashion industry such as Prada and Chanel have large offices and stores in Florence or its outskirts. Florence’s main upscale shopping street is Via de’ Tornabuoni, where major luxury fashion houses and jewelry labels, such as Armani and Bulgari, have their elegant boutiques.

Most of the high fashion boutiques and showrooms in Florence city centre are located around Piazza della Signoria and Via dei Calzaiuoli.
The town of Prato counts 3,500 workshops in the garment industry and ready-to-wear, most of them are located in an industrial park named “Macrolotto di Iolo”. The city of Padua hosts a prestigious and ancient university, an advanced fashion school and boasts artistic and cultural memories of a glorious past that make it the favourite destination for many tourists from all over the world. Nowadays it is one of the most efficient and largest business centres of Northern Italy. The industrial area of Padua was created in the eastern part of the city in 1946; it is now one of the biggest industrial zones in Europe, having an area of 11 million sqm. The main offices of 1,300 industries are based here, employing 50,000 people. Goods arrive in Padua from every part of Europe to be sent all over the world, especially to Asia. In the industrial zone there are two railway stations, one fluvial port, three truck terminals, two highway exits and a lot of connected services, such as hotels, post offices and directional centres.

The industrial textile-clothing district of Carpi is one of the most important in Italy and one of the few effective throughout Europe. Bologna is an important railway and motorway hub in Italy and home to the Guglielmo Marconi International Airport, the seventh busiest Italian airport for passenger traffic. The economy of Bologna is characterized by a flourishing industrial sector, traditionally based on the transformation of agricultural and zootechnical products. ANCONA, MARCHE DISTRICT
Ancona is one of the main ports on the Adriatic Sea, especially for passenger traffic, and is the main economic and demographic centre of Marche region. Since the 1980s the economy of the district has been radically transformed, without however repudiating its rural past. Many of the small craft workshops scattered throughout the rural settlements have modernised and become small businesses, some of which have become major renowned brands (Indesit, Tod’s, Guzzini, Teuco). This evolution led to the emergence of ‘specialised’ industrial areas, which are still profitable: footwear and leather goods in a large area straddling the provinces of Macerata and Fermo; furniture in the Pesaro area in particular; household appliances and textile industry in the province of Ancona, in which the main engineering companies are also to be found.

Naples is Italy’s fourth-largest economy after Milan, Rome and Turin, a major cargo terminal and its port is one of the Mediterranean’s largest and busiest.
