The Rock Hotel, Gibraltar’s premier hotel since 1932 is
majestically situated on the foothill of Gibraltar’s famous rock with panoramic vistas of the Bay and Straits of Gibraltar as well as the Spanish mainland. It has hosted numerous internationally renowned celebrities and a number of celebrity weddings. Bernard Montgomery and Dwight D. Eisenhower stayed at the hotel while they were planning the invasion of North Africa, and Winston Churchill and Errol Flynn also stayed here. Also in 1962, Sean Connery and Diane Cilento stayed at The Rock Hotel after a marriage ceremony in Gibraltar. On 20 March 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono exchanged their marriage vows in a room at the Rock Hotel where they were staying. The various brochures here from different eras show how the Rock Hotel has evolved over the years, to the recent refurbishment in 2015.
