1) Starting your swing on the right path is the first step in a successful outcome. Here is a drill that will help you do that. Using a mid-iron, set up with a golf ball directly behind the clubhead.

2) As you begin your backswing, focus on keeping the club low to the ground while moving the clubhead slowly away.

3) Focus on a smooth takeaway along the line so that the ball is pushed straight back away from you.

4) If your takeaway is too steep, the ball will not be pushed back and if your backswing is too far inside or outside, the ball will move back offline.

Practicing with this drill will help promote a more controlled and efficient takeaway leading to improved ball striking and more consistency in your swing.
