Month's End Brawl

MAY'S WINNERS

1st Place: Niaa

2nd Place: Azoth

3rd Place: Rahuk

My first opponent was Biscuits Biscuits is a long serving cook at the Wyvern’s Tail in Orgrimmar, perhaps less well remembered than his brother Gravy who can be found bartending at all hours. While Gravy bartended ever since the Cataclysm, Biscuits felt the calling to become a shaman, doing his bit to try and save the world before finally settling down in Orgrimmar with his brother

Fate itself caused us to face each other in battle. Biscuits won over the crowd early by throwing out cornmeal biscuits, before closing quickly with pneumatic battle fists While I was able to hold him off with a felguard for a time, Biscuits was incredibly nimble, dodging most of my demonic minions and finally defeating my felguard with a pneumatic blow to the kidneys.

Fights in the brawl go until three hits, establishing the standard for friendly spars throughout Azeroth In the MEB, blows to pets, whether wolves or demons alike count as a hit Biscuits, now calling himself the Demon Puncher was gracious in his victory.

Demon Puncher vs Bear Puncher

I followed Biscuits to the next round where he faced Hokani the Bear Puncher A skilled Tauren bounty hunter, she earned her name by punching bears to death with her bare hands, proudly wearing one such bear as a headdress Her general style for combat is to hit people until they stop moving. While she usually prefers dual wielding hammers at Biscuit's request, she agreed to use unarmed strikes only for this battle

Hokani started off strong with a solid headbutt knocking biscuits back He countered with a punch to the jaw, knocking out one of her teeth. She kept the pressure up with repeated gut punches. Biscuits tried to grab Hokani by the horns to gain more control over the battle at which point she struck him with a headbutt again knocking him out of the battle, and briefly out of consciousness

Biscuits received prompt medical attention.

Bear Puncher vs Shadowflame

Hokani’s next opponent was Azoth A blatant alias, Azoth is a shadowblade who has done questionable mercenary work across Kalimdor, operating out of Gadgetzan. As he arrived to the Dragon Isles, Azoth has started to incorporate Shadowflame into his arsenal, using knives coated in the volatile essence to maim and kill his enemies He felt no reason to refrain from using Shadowflame against Hokani

Hokani started off with her two hammers, slamming down into the ground and missing Azoth entirely as he shifted to his worgen form Azoth himself was swift, slipping by Hokani and lashing out with Shadowflame coated knives Hokani dropped her hammers, shifting back to fists, but still found Azoth too swift to lay a hand on, only managing to slow Azoth down with a thundering stomp against the temple flagstones Azoth managed to win the fight with a throwing knife

As the fight ended, I managed to draw the Shadowflame out of Hokani, however the procedure was not without its risks. Corta promptly banned the use of Shadowflame in the brawl and added it to the long list of rules

Shadowflameless vs Elementalist

Now restricted in his use of Shadowflame Azoth had to adapt to using speed and shadows alone. His opponent in the next round was Ruhuk Stormhoof a noted Highmountain elementalist and two time winner of the Month’s End Brawl If Ruhuk won tonight, he would be the second person ever to win three championships, matching only the ice priestess Raltaka’s record.

“Always remember that there is something to be hopeful for, and know that no matter how bleak things might seem, things will get better ” Ruhuk remarked to me, hoping to inspire the readers of the Times who were going through difficult times.

“My real name is Ansel Lochwood, and I’m available for hire,” was Azoth’s own official remark

Azoth opened up with a quick stab to Ruhuk’s back, only to get struck by the lightning swirling around Ruhuk The two of them exchanged knife blows and elemental strikes for a time, before finally Azoth slipped in, attacking from the left, before shadowstepping to Ruhuk’s right to deliver the final dagger strike for the victory.

Third Place: Solar Prelate vs Elementalist

Though defeated, Rahuk wasn’t out entirely, making it to the third place qualifier match against Dai-Yi Moutnainpaw. DaiYi is a Kun-Lai native, raised by farmers and serving in the militia against the Yaungol and Mantid before being summoned to Xuen’s temple Now serving as a prelate of Xuen she wields spear strikes with brilliant attacks of the Light

“This brawl is fantastic,” she remarked.

She started off by leaping over the Tauren before kicking him in the back For her effort, she was struck by charged pieces of stone dancing around Rahuk DaiYi lunged forward with her spear, blasting out a beam of light towards the shaman, who countered with a shield of earth. He took the earth shield and attempted to entrap her spear in stone While Dai-yi managed to break her spear free, she struggled to make any other attacks land on Rahuk, Rahuk finally winning by blasting her off course with air and stabbing her with his dagger for the victory and winning third place.

Final Battle: Peacock’s Fury vs Shadowflameless

For the final battle,Azoth faced against Nia Dawnshield. Nia is a warden of the Kaldorei Watchers with a focus on spirit magic, a traditional watcher art which she has intermixed with Pandaren chi-weaving techniques Nia herself has avian features but enjoys summoning additional wings of spirit, both out of vanity, but also to use her unusual magic to confuse and disorient her enemies

Last month she placed fourth, but had a renewed interest in victory this time, coming in with a new and properly fitted set of armor An accomplished chef, she practices a mixture of Kaldorei and Pandaren cooking techniques. She found the Pandaren training to remain calm contrasts well with Warden impulsiveness

Nia opened up, pointing her spear at Azoth and shooting out a brilliant beam of blue light... only to find that Azoth had already shadowstepped behind her. Azoth tried to kick her, but found his foot bouncing off of some invisible shield, only to get smacked by ephemeral wings from Nia’s back

The two of them kept trading blows, Azoth slipping in with his dagger while Nia tried to keep him at range with her spear and wings. FInally after cutting open Nia’s cheek Nia responded with a stunning display of magic, creating six floating wings which formed around a central eye, that very eye blasting Azoth with force and knocking him to the edge of the arena, scoring the victory for Nia Dawnshield.

Nia won first place, with Azoth getting second In addition to the hundred grand cash prize, Nia also won an artistic rendering by Yurimi
