You can also export to CSS LAYERS, which places the objects into layers (AP divs), rather than a table. You can always convert the table generated from Fireworks after you position the page elements in Dreamweaver. HTML: Export HTML file SLICES: Export slices This tells Fireworks to export each optimized slice as an individual graphic. 3. Enable the following check boxes in the export window: Current page only Include areas without slices Put images in the subfolder named images (the images folder is chosen by default). This is important so that your files are organized. Upon export, Fireworks will ask you where to place the new graphic files and the HTML file that supports them. Refer back to the folder structure you previously created. It is very important to put the files in the correct folders. 4. For the site you are constructing, use the following structure: a. Export all .html pages to the root folder: my_website (don’t export to the raw folder). b. Export all images to the images folder: my_website/images. c. Name the first page of the site (whether it is a splash page or a home page) index.htm. Always use all lowercase letters to name Web files, and never use spaces or nonalphanumeric characters (such as an asterisk, ampersand, bar, period, comma, or backslash) in their files names. Make sure you include the file extension for each file’s name (.jpg or .gif for images, .htm or .html for Web pages). 5. After export, save a native Fireworks file (.png) complete with slices, layers, and text. Go to FILE > SAVE and navigate to the raw folder. The file may be used for editing and exporting later on. You should also save the initial design file if you used Photoshop or Illustrator for the Web screen layout. You now have a Web page with a table containing the sliced graphics that can be opened and manipulated in Dreamweaver.
