Good Afternoon

A warm welcome to Haywood way for the first home game under our exciting new management team.

We are also delighted to be a selected club for the stonewall rainbow laces campaign promoting equality, inclusion and support across the LGBTQ+ network.

So a new era has emerged at Dynamos over the past few weeks. New managers in the form of Jordan King and James Green, as well as their back room staff consisting of Ken, Will, Bianca, Matt and Thomas. Along with the new heads running the team we have introduced some exciting new talent into the squad.

One face that requires no introduction is Dan Lambeth, who joins us for a second spell at Haywood way. The standard of player coming into the setup, as well as the existing retained players, is testament to Jordan and James’s knowledge and relationships with the local talent.

We’ve had a glimpse at Leverstock Green and London Colney (away) of what this new look squad is capable of and it looks very exciting.

I’d like to thank the previous management team who worked night and day to propel us from where we were, and created some amazing cup memories this season that we will never forget.

This only leaves me to say we hope you enjoy the football these boys aim to bring as they settle into the roles and the squad begins to gel. Here’s to a great game.

Aylesbury Vale Dynamos is an amalgamation of Aylesbury FC and Bedgrove Dynamos, two local clubs with a rich history in local football. Aylesbury FC enjoyed a long history in senior and junior football dating back to the 1930’s under the previous names of Aylesbury Vale, Haywood United, Belgrave, Stocklake and Negretti and Zambra FC, which was founded in the 1930’s by workers at the Negretti and Zambra company then based in London’s King Cross district. The company moved to the Stocklake Industrial Estate, Aylesbury.

in 1949 and by the mid 50’s the premises had a bar, football, cricket and tennis facilities. The football club joined the Aylesbury District League in 1954. The social club changed its name to Stocklake when Negretti and Zambra sold the premises to the local council, who then leased the facilities; hence the different sections adopted the name Stocklake. Under the guidance of Chairman Mr Ernie Crotty, the club gained many honours including runners up in ADL’s top divisions, before gaining intermediate status in the Wycombe and District League first and senior divisions. Sadly Ernie was killed in a road accident just before the club moved premises to the present location at Haywood Way in 1987.

After gaining senior status and promotion to the Chiltern League in 1988, Stocklake enjoyed many further successes including Division One runners up in 1991, Premier Division and League Cup runners up the following season and Wycombe Senior Cup success in 1995. Cup success was also followed on in the following season, this time the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup being added to the trophy cabinet. Belgrave FC was formed in 1983 by Jim Sullivan who lived in nearby Belgrave Road. Jim had two sons who were passionate about football but were limited to where they could play, so formed a team himself with the help of neighbours Lynne and David Hatcher. By 1990, under the guidance of Danny Martone, Belgrave had grown to five youth teams providing football for over ninety boys from the Quarrendon and Haydon Hill areas of Aylesbury. 1996 saw the forming of two senior teams under the Belgrave FC name and by the turn of the millennium teams were represented at all levels from Under 8’s through to seniors,

At the start of the 2000/2001 season, the senior Belgrave FC team was renamed Haywood United following an amalgamation with Stocklake FC with Danny Martone voted in as chairman of the new club. Haywood United joined the Spartan South Midlands League and won promotion into Division One after two seasons. Notable achievements during the 2001/2002 season included league awards for the best kept and most improved ground; this included the erection of floodlights and perimeter fencing, which Danny and his hard working committee fought hard to establish. Season 2002/2003 saw a difficult start in Division One, but with the arrival of manager Jon Franklin and his assistant Keith Walker just after Christmas, the club eventually consolidated finishing in 9th place. Promotion was gained to the South Midlands Premier Division the following year after a campaign that saw 23 wins, 7 draws and only 4 losses. Haywood United proved themselves capable of staying in the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the 2004/2005 season in a campaign that only include one loss in the twenty matches after Christmas. The club also entered the FA Cup and Vase for the first time and won the Buckingham Charity Cup in 2006.

Season 2006/2007 began with Haywood United becoming Aylesbury Vale FC and saw Keith Walker and Steve Gleinster take over as joint managers and steadily build a squad. This was recognised in the 2008/2009 season, under the management of Mark Eaton, with a good cup run in the FA Cup and FA Vase, winning three rounds in the FA Cup losing to Level 4 side Gosport after a replay, and losing out in the 4th round of the FA Vase to Leiston Town. . After Christmas the side suffered due to long term injuries and finished mid table. May 2009 saw a major new development in a new semi professional side vote for a name change. Aylesbury Football Club was formed under the leadership of Chairman Roger Dance and assisted by Vice Chairman Danny Martone

@ValeDynamos @AVDFCOfficial @avdfcsocial @AVDFCSocial @aylesburyvaledynamos.co.uk

Former Chairman Bill Harrison was made President of the club. Great success on the field of play was to follow, with the team having a fantastic run in the F.A. Cup. We were the last 'level five' team in the country to remain in the competition and were rewarded with a visit to Haywood Way for the F.A. Cup trophy, allowing the team, supporters and local people to get their hands on this famous trophy and make the most of this memorable occasion. We were finally knocked out of the competition by Wealdstone in a close game. A brave and superb display was witnessed by a bumper crowd of 800 plus.

Meanwhile, away from the midst of F.A. Cup drama, our success continued, becoming 'Double Winners' Winning both the Spartan South Midland League and League Cup capping an extraordinary season and gaining promotion to the Southern League Division 1 Central. Steve Bateman took over in 2013/14, steered the club to safety in his first 6 months in charge. Then in 2014/15 with Bateman at the helm FC has their most successful season to date most successful to date. Playing at the highest level in the club’s history, the team finished third in the League, having been pushing for promotion all season and narrowly lost out in the semi final to Bedworth United having already beaten them twice in the league. the 2015/16 finished with a flourish as the club finished just outside the play off positions, but had the consolation of our first major Cup Final, beating Chesham United in the Berks & Bucks Cup at Windsor. Steve Bateman and his management team resigned at the end of the season and Danny Gordon & Gareth Risbridger took the helm , supported by Paul Bonham , Ryan Wiffin & Aaron Norman. Davis Haule took over from Gordon & Risbridger in December 2016, appointed brother Brian as his assistant and recruited former coaches Fraser McLachlan, Aaron Wiffin and added Ryan Collings to his back room staff for the 2017/18 season. In 2018/19 Scott Reynolds was appointed manager and when he resigned midway through the season it was left to Paul Bonham to take control but because of ground grading issues the Southern League made the decision to relegate the club and so after ten seasons in the Southern League. Phil Granville and Ben Gill were appointed midway through last season and will kick off the 2020/21 season again in the Spartan Premier Division. Steve Bateman was re appointed as manager in September 2021 and replaced summer 2022 by Michael East & Liam Dwyer

Bedgrove Dynamos

Alf Buckland, a resident of Finmere Crescent, formed Bedgrove Dynamos in 1968. It was created to fill a void in activities for boys within the Bedgrove area on the south side of Aylesbury. In 1980, Dave Bayliss became involved when he brought his Cub side to the Bedgrove Park. The teams amalgamated and Dave went on to be the chairman for 21 years, stepping down in the year 2000. Within two years and barely a full strip between them, they managed not only to win the Under 12's Aylesbury & District League (ADL), but went on to win the 13's & 14's league in consecutive years and, by which time, they now had four teams at various age groups.

Over the years the club has grown and has won many tournaments and trophies, especially at county level. Many teams have toured abroad and the club has also entertained boys from Europe and America. We can boost that we are the only boys club to have a club pennant on display in Barcelona's trophy room.

At the start of the season 2001/02 the club was the largest junior club in the Aylesbury area, running teams from under 8's through to under 18's. At the end of the season 2001/02 the club managed to win the coveted Berks and Bucks Cup at under 14's, the Mayor's Cup at under 12's, represented in two other cup finals, won 3 league titles, gained 6 promotions in total and all teams finished in the top 6 to the fairplay awards for their respective leagues. In the last 20 seasons across the age groups the club has won 25 divisional titles, and runners up 20 times.

In 2019 two became one when the sides amalgamated with the intention of allowing the youth of the town to progress through junior football to youth and then adult football and play at the highest possible level.

Jordan King – Joint Manager

FA Qualified Coach Jordan started his managerial career at Aylesbury Park Rangers in 2012, achieving three promotions in consecutive seasons and also led the side to the Tom Sparkes League Cup.

Then at Aston Clinton between 2015 and 2018 the side achieved back to back promotion finishes and in 2017/18 Aston were runners up in Spartan South Midlands League Div Two and the Division Two Cup Runners up. In 2020 he joined Aylesbury Vale Dynamos as assistant manager and oversaw a rebuild alongside Phil Granville gaining 19 points from the first 10 games before Covid curtailed the season.

Jordan became joint manager with James Green at Winslow United and the pair gave the club their joint highest finish.

James Green – Joint Manager

James joined Winslow United at Youth Level, taking a side through all of the age groups from u7 u18. Honours included multiple League/Cup titles, winning the Be & Bucks Cup, top 5 finishes in the Junior Premier League & reaching the FA Youth Cup 1st Round Proper for two consecutive seasons at u18 facing Charlton Athletic & Ipswich Town.

In 2021 James became joint First Team Manager with Jordan King at Winslow United and the pair gave the club their joint highest ever finish. Finishing 3rd place, with 80 points from 38 games, scoring 104 goals along the way.

James’ reputation has been built over many years, helping to develop top youth talent regionally as they successfully transition into senior football across the Non League levels. Some of whom we’d hope to see at Haywood Way.

Successful playing career playing at Oxford City, Witney Town and Kidlington. Vastly experienced having various management positions at Hale Leys United, Aston Clinton FC, Winslow United FC, Aylesbury United U18’s and Penn & Tyler’s Green FC.

London Colney 1 4 AVDFC

After the great result at Leverstock on Saturday, there was an air of expectation amongst the Dynamos fans as they travelled to London Colney on a wet and miserable Tuesday night. Dave Brown unavailable through injury, meant a slight shuffle. Max Rosner started and so did Fabian Garcia. Jacob Williamson was the first to get an shot away as he collected Max Rosner’s ball but his shot went wide. Less than 10 minutes gone and Dynamos got another chance. Curtis Brown closed down their player, won the ball and hit a lovely cross which just didn’t sit up for Williamson as he was about to shoot. London Colney then sprung into life forcing two fantastic saves from Archie. First with his fists, punching away, and then the rebound, tipping it over the bar for a corner. Attwell lept the highest to clear the corner.

12 minutes and Dynamos thought they had the lead…! Griffiths played a ball into Lambeth who swivelled and played a lovely through ball to Curtis Brown who easily outpaced the defence, beat the keeper and dinked it towards the open goal…hit the bar…and cleared. So unlucky. It wasn’t long before Dynamos created another chance. Ianelli played a lovely ball out wide where Curtis Brown was and he skipped past a challenge and fizzed in a decent cross where Fabian Garcia had lost his marker and slotted the ball home. Great goal. London Colney 0 1 AVDFC.

With barely enough time to Tweet the goal…Dynamos were 2 0 up. Williamson played a ball into Lambeth’s feet and he played another lovely through ball to Curtis Brown. This time he would not miss and he sidestepped the keeper and calmly rolled the ball into the net. London Colney 0 2 AVDFC. Less than half an hour…and it was 3…oh no it wasn’t. Rio Deall was provider this time as Dynamos carved the defence open again, this time Lambeth raced clear and beat the keeper, only to be called offside (probably was..!).

Ten minutes until the break and Garcia managed to win a corner. Williamson crossed the ball and Griffiths made contact at the near post, but wide of the goal. Moments later Ianelli won a tackle in the centre of the pitch, got up and played an inch perfect pass to Lambeth….surely this was his time to score…no…the keeper made a save at his second attempt. London Colney did manage another effort before half time but Archie was equal to it, with a decent save

Half time: London Colney 0-2 AVDFC

In the first minute of the second half, Rio Deall won a free kick 35 yards out. Williamson floated a ball into the box and Baldwin, on his 90th 1st team appearance, flicked the ball on, past the keeper and into the goal. London Colney 0-3 AVDFC. Game over (hopefully).

Team: Archie Davis; Jake Baldwin, Max Rosner, Charlie Attwell, Terry Griffiths; Antonio Ianelli, Jacob Williamson, Curtis Brown, Rio Deall, Fabian Garcia; Dan Lambeth Subs: Jack Empson, Sam Wood, Charlie Jackson, Jet Dyer, Evans Lamboh

Jordan and James decided to make a couple of changes on 57 minutes. Williamson and Garcia came off and Sam Wood and Evans Lamboh (on for his debut) came on. Sam Wood was straight in the action on the left flank and he skilfully beat his man and found Lambeth with space, he controlled the ball and hit his shot over the keeper…and over the bar. London Colney decided to ruin the fun a little by getting through and scoring a goal past Archie making it London Colney 1-3 AVDFC.

They then had a period of 10 minutes where they took control of the game forcing Archie into a couple of saves and also Attwell and Griffiths needed to be on their game to clear their lines. Dynamos put the game beyond doubt on 70 minutes as Max Rosner raced out of defence and curled his pass round the last defender and into Lambeth…was this his moment…YES IT WAS, he beat the keeper with ease and slotted it home. London Colney 1 4 AVDFC.

Max Rosner and Curtis Brown were then replaced by Jack Empson and Charlie Jackson. Baldwin has clearly got the taste for goal at the moment and he exchanged a 1 2 with Lamboh and hit a rasping effort which the keeper held onto. That was his last action as 76 minutes in he was subbed off in the final change for U18’s player, Jet Dyer. 82 minutes and Lamboh and Jackson worked the ball clear for Jackson to send in a cross which Lambeth controls but the defender got a toe in at the vital moment.

A few minutes later Jet Dyer had time on the ball and moved forward with purpose, beating 2 challenges and sending in a cross which made it through to Jackson but his shot was blocked. Almost on 90 minutes it should have been 5 as Lamboh, looking quality on his debut, sent a ball through to Sam Wood who beat his man, beat the keeper…but hit the post and went wide. There was still time for Rio Deall to dance his way past 4 challenges and send Lambeth through, the keeper took him out and got a yellow card, but the free kick came to nothing.

P.Letts.

S.Humphrey. Missing Max Mayer and Loui Bowman, on the usual

surface we managed to put on our worst display against a well

enthusiastic home team. For the 20 mins despite instructions to the contrary we were taking too many touches, not display enough quality in the passing and a failure to protect the back 4 resulted in a couple of chances repelled by keeping by Peter Letts and a couple of last-ditch tackles by Prince Will and Callum Bailey. We also missed a couple of good opportunities before a strike from the edge of the area on 27 mins by Tafara Dube gave us the lead. We looked a bit more comfortable till in the 44 th minute a defender fell asleep at a free kick which resulted in a not undeserved equaliser.

The second period was far better without really being too convincing but after some tidy play reassured in a neat finish from Kris Collier on 69 mins regained the lead and for the remains time we created a couple of decent chances and restricted Dunstable. The general impression was of a lacklustre team performance but importantly the result went our way.

2014 15 A difficult season ended with a highly successful celebration of the 40th anniversary of the FA Vase win with an international friendly against ASD Acquaviva at Lowfield on 19th April 2015. First Team avoided relegation despite many setbacks through the season, finishing nineteenth, and the Reserves ended up in tenth place having also suffered setbacks during the season.

2015 16 Unquestionably the Club’s most successful season since the Vase win in 1975. Third in the SSMFL, the best League campaign since 1970/71, top of the table for 8 weeks, a Club record breaking run of four tie wins and seven games in the FA Cup in reaching the 3rd Qualifying Round for only the second time, (four wins, two draws and a replay defeat) and winners of the SSMFL Premier Division Cup. A rebuilt side acquitted itself well with a final placing of seventh, a Club record of 93 goals in SSMFL Premier Division football, and retention of the SSMFL Premier Division Cup with a 1 0 win against Wembley at Oxhey Jets. Reserves made a fourth appearance in five seasons in the Challenge Trophy but were beaten 3 0 by a strong Hertford side. Tom Cowell equalled a modern day Club League scoring record with five of the seven goals scored against St. Margaretsbury. All the ground infrastructure work was finally completed during the course of the season. Bill Moye, Manager of the Vase winning side passed away in March 2017. 2017 18 Manager Paul Halsey walked out in January 2017, and after a short spell of interim management, Simon Riddle took over and was appointed for 2018/19. A final place of twelfth in the table was a relief after much player turbulence over 2 or 3 months. After the season ended, the Club learned it had been moved laterally to the Essex Senior League, thus ending a 34 year association with the (Spartan) South Midlands League. A full appeal hearing at the FA failed to have the decision reversed. The Reserves ended the season 3rd in the Development Division table, but after much consideration, an application was made for the Reserves to join the Herts. Senior County League for 2018/19. A very successful Under 18 squad formed the backbone of the First Team for the final few games of the season. Former Club Treasurer and stalwart supporter, Bob Parker, passed away at the age of 93 in May 2018.

2018 19 An historic season for the Club as the First Team took its place in the 20 club Essex Senior League, and the Reserves once again joined the Herts. Senior County League, this time in an 18 club Division One. Ninth place for the First Team and fourth for the Reserves reflected what was considered to be a satisfactory season for both teams. Having reached the semi finals of the Peter Butcher Memorial Trophy the First Team lost 2 1 to a very strong Barkingside Reserves side, but the Final was not played due to issues that occurred in the other semi final. Stalwart of the successful side of the 80s and early 90s with 300 appearances, John Walton, passed away at the age of 64.

2019 20 Thanks to Covid 19 the season was declared null and void in late March, with the Lilywhites in seventh place in the table, and the Reserves fifth at Step 7. One of the FA Vase Final stars, Les Picking, passed away in March 2020. The First Team also lost out on a chance to make the Challenge Trophy semi finals when their thrice postponed quarter final tie became a victim of the pandemic.

2020 21 Another season affected by Covid 19 with two lockdowns. Only thirteen League and eight cup games played, four of those in the Len Cordell Memorial Cup/Plate, the Lilywhites winning the latter 3 0 in the Final against Woodford Town. New, young Reserves side did well in what was a very short season for them. A new pitch rail was constructed around three sides of the pitch to upgrade the ground even further. Former Assistant Manager and general manager Jimmy Briggs passed away in early 2021 2021 22 Roger Merton stepped down as Chairman after 26 years in the role, and he was replaced by Stuart Varney. After a poor Covid 19 affected start to the season, the First Team picked up in the second half and finished in 15th place. Having reached the semi finals of the Errington Challenge Trophy they were beaten 3 0 by a very good Enfield side. A young Reserves squad also acquitted themselves well in the second half of the season and ended the campaign in 13th place. A sad season for the Lilywhites as former Club stalwart Richard Lorimer and former First Team Manager Tommy Barnett both passed away. Following the season end the Club was informed it was being moved back to the Spartan South Midlands League for the 2022/23 campaign following two full and two truncated seasons in the Essex
